Brain beets brawn here. Anakin had more power with the Force and was the stronger lightsaber duelist, but Obi-wan kept on giving ground and avoiding fighting head-on, and eventually reached a point where he couldn't lose.

honestly people are so misinformed about why kenobi let himself loose on the death star, he let himself be defeated because he was trying to let luke escape and he wanted luke to be the one to save the galaxy, i know when i read this i looked it up, and that is why he let vader kill him... it realy was a bad decision but it was the one he made, plus alec ginuess wanted his charracter killed off so he didnt have to play such an important role in episodes 5 and 6

@jediguardian10 That's actually not too far off the mark. Attack of the clones took place 3 almost 4 years before luke's birth, luke is what, 22? at the beginning of episode 4, and episode 5 is three more years after that...so you end up with about thirty-one or so years before hoth.

for what it's worth this is a good duel. the first couple of minutes were great but then it just kind of trails off. and the high ground thing? go look at episode 1. obi-wan himself attacked the high ground.

I agree that the plot of the new trilogy was kinda bad. And the scenes between Anakin and Padmé were horrible. But the fights were epic and there really were some great chars plus the rest of the acting was quite good. I think the prequel films aren't THAT bad, but indeed pale in comparison to the original trilogy. And the original trilogy ROCKED.

the fights stunk. take this one for example: why didn't they use force-push when balancing on the tiny floating platforms? why does it freakin matter if one person has the high ground? like that ever made a difference before. why dont the jedi ever use their powers in a kewl way, like distance-sword fighting, using a thrust, choking, tripping, blinding, deafening, more then one lightsaber....be a little creative is all im sayin.

Well, most of the things you mentioned exist. Darth Vader actually used force choke during this fight. There actually was a sith lord who used three lightsabers telekinetically. Many jedi and sith used more then one saber. (Although twin sabers have also a disadvantage) All of the things you are talking about are in the expanded universe. Also, if they pushed, we would have the same situation as earlier in the duel, which would kill em both. But in the end, you're kinda right.

I don't think either of them wanted to use force push. As seen at 0:59, both of them probably would have done it at the same time on the platforms and that means both of them woul die. That, and Anakin was too pissed at Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan was too busy blocking Anakin's lightsaber.
