Hmmm. Video was not a response to "Casting Call" -- don't know where YouTube or whomever came up with that. My husband and I made that video of our Merle Dane in 2006. Now it's 2012... and he'll still do that! He has girl companion Danes, Ghoulie (blind) and Ghost (deaf). We love them lots. :o)

my friends little black lab puppy used to do this with pillows! she was a bitey little girl and whenever shed get too crazy you just held up one of the couch pillows and she would immediately stop and back away. it was so cute, it was like a Kiwi shield lol then when one of us wasnt holding the pillow, she would sniff at it and prod it to see if it was alive lol

Everything is an adventure with a Dane. Their personality is the greatest part of them. Mine have become very agile compared to the clumsy puppies they once were - as agile as a 140 lb dog can be anyway.

I have 2 great danes and the only thing you have to watch out for is when you get them hyper like in this video as they will unintentionally hurt you by stepping on you, or jumping around and knocking you over (you have to remember they weigh upwards of 100 pounds - mine both weigh around 150 pounds- so it's like a full size person running around). I have had many small kids around them, and other than a face smacked by their tails, we've had no problems.

They are an awesome pet around babies. They don't snap or bite. However you have to be around as they can easily step or knock over a baby. And if you ever had a full grown Dane step on your foot, believe me it hurts.

If a baby comes around my Danes their persona changes dramatically. They tend to walk slower and closer to the ground and usually lay next to the baby. Very protective which is a great thing.
