I spend a lot of time in both Poland and Russia and I can assure you that the average standard of living in Poland is much higher than in Russia - although there are more very rich people in Russia.

I really like Poland, i'm from Italy but part of my relatives live there. I'd like so much to move there but i haven't done it yet because of the salaries. They are really low, even in the multinational companies. I'm graduate so... My question is: why, if the economy is growing so fastly, still many people are going to work abroad? :)

There is also the aspect of exchange rates. For example, one pound is 5 of our ZLOTY currency. This means, that if you earn 5000 pounds you have 25 000 zloty in Poland. The amount of money that you pay for a product ( in terms of numbers) is the same, but the currency value is different so people find it attractive to work abroad.

@alanheath Mate, I believe you should move to Poland for a while. I moved to the UK in 2007 to do my studies there. At that time I considered everything in Poland as cheap compared to what I was paying the the UK. However, throught these 4 years people became much wealthier and the prices have increased by far. Example: the rent for a small 2-bedroom flat in Warsaw is similar to the rent for a 3-bedroom house in London. Not mentioning a difference in average salaries.
@internexpl I reckon you ought to come back to Poland. I rent out my properties in the UK and I am very well aware of what prices are in Warsaw. Rents on private flats in Warsaw collapsed because of the speculation in 2004 - 7 with the result that prices are very subdued. A friend rented a place in Warsaw last week - a two bedroomed flat.
If you can find three bedroomed houses in London for rent at PLN1,500 then let me know as I would be very interested in going into business with you.

I live in Holland but I have Polish family and speak a bit polish, at least well enough that I can make my point... I have family living in Poland, hard workers to say the least but they rarely complain about how life is hard. I think that is something to be admired, not taking everything for granted. Also I think the atmosphere is different in Poland, over there people seem to be more connected towards each other. In a way a mutual respect towards each other. Don't lose that. Forza Poland.

I really like Poland, i'm from Italy but part of my relatives live there. I'd like so much to move there but i haven't done it yet because of the salaries. They are really low, even in the multinational companies. I'm graduate so... My question is: why, if the economy is growing so fastly, still many people are going to work abroad? :)

@Marcocero86 There always are people unemployed. People who are not educated quite often immigrate as it doesn't make a difference for them - but not always. There is also the aspect of exchange rates. For example, one pound is 5 of our ZLOTY currency. This means, that if you earn 5000 pounds you have 25 000 zloty in Poland. The amount of money that you pay for a product ( in terms of numbers) is the same, but the currency value is different so people find it attractive to work abroad.

It justifies itself pretty easily when you think how the crushing student debt can really hurt young people. The bigger the debt, the more money you spend on the interest instead of paying it off. It's a much better deal to pay taxes later when you are settled in a stable job. At worst if your income isn't very high, you got a free education!

@alanheath Mate, I believe you should move to Poland for a while. I moved to the UK in 2007 to do my studies there. At that time I considered everything in Poland as cheap compared to what I was paying the the UK. However, throught these 4 years people became much wealthier and the prices have increased by far. Example: the rent for a small 2-bedroom flat in Warsaw is similar to the rent for a 3-bedroom house in London. Not mentioning a difference in average salaries.

@internexpl I reckon you ought to come back to Poland. I rent out my properties in the UK and I am very well aware of what prices are in Warsaw. Rents on private flats in Warsaw collapsed because of the speculation in 2004 - 7 with the result that prices are very subdued. A friend rented a place in Warsaw last week - a two bedroomed flat.
If you can find three bedroomed houses in London for rent at PLN1,500 then let me know as I would be very interested in going into business with you.

@alanheath It makes no sense. 2 English girls moved to my town in the U.S. because of their parent's work.. after 3 years of high school they lost their accents completely. Someone from the U.S. could live in a foreign country for 50 years and their accent would barely change.

Notice that there is no melodramatic background music in this Journeyman video. They put it in when it suits their agenda. Poland looks really nice -seems they filmed always on sunny days. Krakow looks like fun place

Black levels are too high in this video, the image is washed out. Do not forget that computer levels are [0,255], while Rec. 601 levels are [16, 235]. You need to expand levels for watching on YouTube.

I live in Holland but I have Polish family and speak a bit polish, at least well enough that I can make my point... I have family living in Poland, hard workers to say the least but they rarely complain about how life is hard. I think that is something to be admired, not taking everything for granted. Also I think the atmosphere is different in Poland, over there people seem to be more connected towards each other. In a way a mutual respect towards each other. Don't lose that. Forza Poland.

Probably short lived success, like China did.
It is relying on loss of economy of other European countries(like US to China) now. After while the rest of EU will lose the consumption power (job loss)to feed Poland. Poland itself doesn't have (and won't have for a long time to come)over all consuming power to Poland itself but only from a few wealthy like the guy in the video.
When the rest of EU goes down, so will Poland.

The only virtue you do see is how many companies there is in a country and what influence they have - with that mentality USA will never understand what "Global market" is! Ok fair enough history is not a major that is "accepted" as something important in the states. Then heres my answer. You study the polish history and you will get your answer.

And to add a small thing to the debate is that there is one more nation besides arabs that understands economy as good as jews and thats poles. Cause poles were forced to handle both of them for 500 years not to mention the russians or cosacks! Learn what culture means and the power of mentality!
