@jrahm001 it gets to 90 really quick, a little slower to 100 but can still go in the fast lane, open throttle and overtake. Above that it is very slow to get to 110-120. Or so I've heard, I would never break the 70 speed limit :P

Word of advice to any new rider. If a car insists on staying right next to you like in this video, switch lanes and get as far away as possible. These are the drivers that cause crashes...

btw, I would like to add that the rider should not have accelerated. One thing they teach you in MSF, or training for the written test, is that speeding up to get away from a tailgater only results in you moving at a faster speed, and the person still tailgating you.
Furthermore, I think every person who gets a class D license should also be required to take the MSF course. That way the motorists will have a sense of what it means to ride a motorcycle, and hopefully be more respectfull.

It has similar looks, riding position (yes more upright, but still similar), and maneuverability. Its a perfect match for progression to a higher powered sportbike.
@chaunster Crusiers have very different ergonomics, you have to put your feet forward, something very different than riding a street bike. Street bikes are more like bicycles and can feel more familliar to beginners, plus the light weight of the Ninja 250 is also good for beginners in case it gets dropped.

I will be the first to say I guess. I drove the 250 after having 600s and higher for 4 years, and it's a bummer to pull the throttle and get a doggy response.. Still Being safer is way worth it to me now. Ive seen alot of little mistakes turn bad.. Watched a friend death wobble right into a semi BOOM Done.. Its a good bike :)

Racing? If you look at the turn signal in the video, the beemer comes from behind the bike, signals to go from the center to the left lane. The guy on the bike is paying attn. to where he is on the road. Looks like to me that the guy on the bike doesn't want to get hit by a Яetard with a camera not looking where he is going..... so, YEAH I'd speed up. This video should be called "Retard with cams". I know, it's cheesy.... DEAL WITH IT..... : )

@rgaufman i didnt say anything about 0-60 ninja 250 goes to what 100ish mph, and im pretty sure passed 75 it takes quite a while for it to get to 90ish (dont know havent been able to get passed 75 on my ninja yet not allowed on the freeways =3)

@jrahm001 it gets to 90 really quick, a little slower to 100 but can still go in the fast lane, open throttle and overtake. Above that it is very slow to get to 110-120. Or so I've heard, I would never break the 70 speed limit :P

What this video really demonstrates is that many people say that the 250R is under powered and really slow..
This video proves them wrong, it accelerated up and past the BMW at around 80/85mph. That is not slow or underpowered at all.

btw, I would like to add that the rider should not have accelerated. One thing they teach you in MSF, or training for the written test, is that speeding up to get away from a tailgater only results in you moving at a faster speed, and the person still tailgating you.
Furthermore, I think every person who gets a class D license should also be required to take the MSF course. That way the motorists will have a sense of what it means to ride a motorcycle, and hopefully be more respectfull.

@izmail1215 I have no problem at all with beginners learning to ride motorcycles. it is when they ride a poser bike and think they are hard ass bullit bikers is when it bothers me. i think a better starter bike would be a simple cruiser, 400cc and less. not a fake crotch rocket. @chaunster "Fake" crotch rocket? Your an idiot, if a rider intends on getting a 600cc+ sportbike, a ninja250 is a perfect way to start. It has similar looks, riding position (yes more upright, but still similar), and maneuverability. Its a perfect match for progression to a higher powered sportbike.

@chaunster Crusiers have very different ergonomics, you have to put your feet forward, something very different than riding a street bike. Street bikes are more like bicycles and can feel more familliar to beginners, plus the light weight of the Ninja 250 is also good for beginners in case it gets dropped.

I will be the first to say I guess. I drove the 250 after having 600s and higher for 4 years, and it's a bummer to pull the throttle and get a doggy response.. Still Being safer is way worth it to me now. Ive seen alot of little mistakes turn bad.. Watched a friend death wobble right into a semi BOOM Done.. Its a good bike :)

I see people posted about how car/truck drivers have no respect for Bikes.. while that may hold true for very few auto drivers... its not really the case as much as it seems. Also its a two way street. A SMART and experience Motorcycle driver will know the danger spots while driving.. Accidents happen sure.. but there are a lot of stupid motorcycle drivers out there... Im borderline one of them lol. I'm trying to improve my stupidness before its too late!
