@khulanic Yes, but in the long run, the media comes and goes. In other words, no one give a shit about the interviewer. And Queen's music will live on basically forever and no one with a brain cares what the media say or do. The media means nothing. I didn't buy my first Queen album because of what Weezle Duchendorf said about Queen. I bought my first Queen album because I had heard a great song by Queen, that's it, period. It's all about the music and nothing about the interviewers/media.

Thank you for your honesty (granted that you did say it a year ago) I seem to be the only one who thought the hate campaign between Queen and the media was a two-way thing and however badly the media treaty treated Queen they ought to have risen above them and not been so childish when it came to things like bad reviews.

Why everybody always say that Queen was formed in 1971. John Deacon joined them in 1971, but the band was formed in 1970 (with Mike Grose on bass). It is like saying that Pink Floyd formed in 1968 because that's when David Gilmour joined them.

Not really because prior to '68 Pink Floyd had established themselves as recording artists. Queen were forming around about 1970. Plus all (four) members came to consider themselves a proper group in 1971 when John joined and not before them, it's not a stupid idiosyncrasy thought up by musos and Queen fans alike.

Yeah definitely, I most critics actually say they have been together since 1972, although the band corrects them often by saying 1971.

@musicsnobtobe Plus, it was in 1971 that they had their first tour (in Cornwall) and recorded for the first time in a professional studio. That may be why this year there were no official celebrations for their 40th anniversary, but next year there probably will be.
