In my view the whole of 'reality' is comprised of many layers of Awareness tier upon tier going up to infinity . This may be called Godhead. All matter/energy, space/time are but illusions , only a dream experienced from lower states of being/ lower levels of consiousness. All exists only to experience things and learn from these experiences. Direct experience is the only thing thats real everything else is a transcendental mirage. This is how the Universe experiences itself
One thing I would like to draw your attention to, ( although you may already be aware of it) is what Ken Wilber refers to as "Witnessing". He has a chapter on this excercise in his book The Essential Ken Wilber. You could also research Fritz Pearls's Awareness Continuum. It has been found that simply doing these kinds of practices will put a person into different states of consciousness without the use of drugs. Not to say that there is anything wrong with using drugs for self cultivation ...

For me the key is not just using drugs and experiencing what they have to offer, but to actually learn something from that experience.

@ibombismoke - 6-APB is getting some real good reports lately but I don't know the legality of it in the US but at present can be purchased in Europe with no issues, I guess it's just matter of time though before it gets the attention of the law.
It's very similar to good MDA so less euphoric than MDMA but longer lasting with amazing body & head rushes, having said that though everyone reacts different and 6-APB hasn't been around long enough for any dangers to appear.

@TITISIMO25 Im almost 18 i did mushrooms my first time on psychedelics and i have done mushies, LSD, DMT and MDMA. Although most people wouldnt suggest it, i would suggest doing DMT for a first timer just because of the time convenience and the intesity makes mushrooms a lot easier

McKenna spoke extensively on what to do with the knowledge gained from journeying through the vast sea of psychedelics. He was a cool dude. I wish there were more like him. This is not verbatim, but he said something like you have to bring back not a big fish, but a small fish and apply it to everyday life. Big fish/small fish meaning it doesn't have to be an earth shattering idea, but something small and manageable that can be applied, be it through art, music, poem, etc...

I agree with you 100%. You can't KNOW that the psychedelic experience is not just a drug induced illusion. But, I'll tell you if you experience a high level psychedelic you won't believe how amazing and real the experience feels. I still wonder to this day if my experiences are real.
Before trying these drugs I was a staunch atheist and naturalist and I would have never believed that the experiences are possible. But, after seeing them myself, I just don't know anymore...

@AL13NM You're not being a jerk, it's a perfectly valid question. I remember when I first discovered MDMA, I was truly evangelical about it (probably very annoying to non-users).
Over 10 years later I still believe I experience something deep when I trip (especially on LSD), but don't feel the need to spread the word anymore.
The psychedelic experience is worth investigating, tho'. I think Neurosoup generally just tries to inform and share enthusiasm, not quite the same as a church.

to get higher using shrooms:
1. dont eat a lot or anything so all thats in your stomach at first is the shrooms
2.smoke weed if you can before,during, and after your trip

everyone talks about modernity and similar rational concepts. everyone talks about tolerance and similar pluralistic concepts. you don't have to know it all, to talk integral (jargon or ideas). it's supposed to become the new culture. other than true vision logic, no requirements. everyone can participate. totally understand your hesitation though. it requires a slightly different voice. sure you will find it. good luck. & thanks

@TITISIMO25 Im almost 18 i did mushrooms my first time on psychedelics and i have done mushies, LSD, DMT and MDMA. Although most people wouldnt suggest it, i would suggest doing DMT for a first timer just because of the time convenience and the intesity makes mushrooms a lot easier

McKenna spoke extensively on what to do with the knowledge gained from journeying through the vast sea of psychedelics. He was a cool dude. I wish there were more like him. This is not verbatim, but he said something like you have to bring back not a big fish, but a small fish and apply it to everyday life. Big fish/small fish meaning it doesn't have to be an earth shattering idea, but something small and manageable that can be applied, be it through art, music, poem, etc...

I appreciate this but I think the focus is too much on Entheogens and too little on deeper forms of meditation. But maybe some needs Entheogens to get into altered states of consciousness to start off with?

And if ones viewpoint is that all is illusion how exactly do you know you are not trading one illusion for another more preferable?

I agree with you 100%. You can't KNOW that the psychedelic experience is not just a drug induced illusion. But, I'll tell you if you experience a high level psychedelic you won't believe how amazing and real the experience feels. I still wonder to this day if my experiences are real.
Before trying these drugs I was a staunch atheist and naturalist and I would have never believed that the experiences are possible. But, after seeing them myself, I just don't know anymore...

@AL13NM You're not being a jerk, it's a perfectly valid question. I remember when I first discovered MDMA, I was truly evangelical about it (probably very annoying to non-users).
Over 10 years later I still believe I experience something deep when I trip (especially on LSD), but don't feel the need to spread the word anymore.
The psychedelic experience is worth investigating, tho'. I think Neurosoup generally just tries to inform and share enthusiasm, not quite the same as a church.

I've had moments of absolute certainty. When not in the throes of these experiences, it is easy to wonder if it was just an illusion. To me it just resonates so well with traditional spiritual accounts, and really makes so much sense, it even resonates with science. I don't say with absolute certainty I know, but I have had moments of clarity, to borrow the phrase

For a minute I thought you were going to be working with Integral Institute, that would be awesome. You'd fit right in there I think. I'm glad you're starting this series though, this is a subject I've been very interested in for a very long time. I've actually put some thought into maybe developing a new philosophy or belief system around psychedelics and the realms that they bring you to. Or maybe just a new Alice in Wonderland-type story.

The most important thing is to be your true self cause it allows other people be more comfortable being who they truley are. We all live in a holographic dream world and we all create our own realitys. We've just be lied to for way to long and now alot of people are waking up and rising in vibration.
