in the canter i wouldnt see-saw her in the class or at all because that makes their front end flatter, instead lift with your hands and push her hip in giving her hind end more impulsion letting her lift her front. you have a very nice mare and shes a good mover.
@razrbladefaerie hey, i dont know if you want to, but if you could, could you please help me? i know you know exactly what you are talking about and you've given me small tips through comments on my videos. if you would like to, i need tips. okay, so i know that my horse(not the one in this video) is very hard on his front end. i need him to come up and raise his shoulders. i know whats wrong i just don't know exactly how to solve this problem. please help!
@zipgurl057 for sure i'll help you!! lol. to lift your horses shoulder you must always make sure that when you pull them in to bridle them that their chin comes up to their chest, not nessicarily back and definitley not down. a horse that is very heavy on their front end tend to carry their head too low and shuffle around, just lift with everything you do.
@zipgurl057 as you lift the horse each time, push them more forward and when they are soft and light, give them slack in the reins and stop pushing with your legs. don't quite push your legs off, but stop pushing the horse to go forward. when you let everything go, your horse should slow down right away, atleast that is the goal.
@zipgurl057 if the horse speeds up, push your feet forward and pull them until they back up making sure their front end is lifted in the backup, don't say whoa unless your horse is being good and consistent. whoa is a reward. if your horse stays the same speed, make a bigger move with your legs, the move that would say to back up. if your horse doesnt respond to this, pull them without saying whoa until they back up and spur them in the shoulder a couple times
@zipgurl057 . not mean but like a 'hey!'. haha. and if your horse does slow down, it is okay if they walk from the jog or lope, the first couple times you will let them take the gait slower and pet them all over. gradually you can start legging them back up into the gait you are riding. so say you are jogging along, bridling your horse and pushing him up into the bit, let him go and he slows down, almost to a walk, very very lightly fluff his sides with your calves
@zipgurl057 . this gets them wanting to go slow all the time and you having to push them and when you push them to go faster than they want to go, they have to lift their front end. provided you bridled them correctly. pulling their chin up is key and every time you bridle you must push the horse to go faster, not faster steps but a faster speed all together in the same gait because the horse has to have something to slow down to. i hope this makes sense and helps!!!
@razrbladefaerie thank you, thank you thank you! i appreciate this so much. i completely understand, dont worry. i also have already started to do this exercise so hearing this from someone else makes me feel a little bit better about myself. hahahaha. i wanted to make sure i was correcting him the right way.lol:) thank you so much:)
pretty mare! at the trot though i would reccomend slowing your post and not thrusting your pelvis out but rather lean forward a tiny bit without hunching your shoulders. when you go up in the post think more about pushing your heels down and straightening your leg and/or squeezing with your calf for a lengthened and slowed stride. if you need to lift her in the warmup i would suggest bumping lightly with your hands alternating sides.
great class! takes me back when i used to do hus at my apha regional shows, don't do that anymore lol. i'm getting more into the o/f classes and i would want to eventually do a rated hunters and jumpers. I really need to work on my elbows too lol
You said in the Numa vid that you've done some stupid stuff...I don't see how! The way you ride is quite impressive and the way you guide these magnificent animals is almost elegant. Quite impressive.
really that's cool! too bad that you didn't see my class,DARN! cuz we just did so dead gum good,NOT!
