I think they are doing "well", but some of the islands was destroyed totally. Some of they are rebuilt, some are destroyed forever!!! Maldives is one of the worlds poorest countries, but thanks for the tourism they can survive on that! If you never have been there. Take your next trip to this wonderful country.
That's easy, when the highest point of the all country is about 4 meters above sea level... I'been at Maldives a year after the tsunami... "Only" a few island were hit, because of it's location... India protect the north part of the Maldives, by refelctinf the wave, down south...
Nice to find someone from maldives. I'm planing to visit maldives in August 08. Would you advise to do so, couse i heard it gets realy rainy and stormy in there...

i went to a island called meeru in the maldives - its BEAUTIFUL!
UNBELIEVEABLE seriously - thay have got over the tsunami really well!

I AM from the Maldives, and believe me, more than just a few islands were hit. 3 islands were completely destroyed.
