  • They should make the first 2 games into movies. I think they'd be great

  • End of Irenicus is one of the greatest scenes in the history of video game RPGs. May all well-organised, disciplined sadistic, cynical, sarcastic, evil wizards ends like Irenicus.

  • WTF IS SKYRIM

  • Slayer's rock ! xD

  • So... who were those guys in the hoods? The shadow council in Amn?

  • @MrUncreated I'd wager it was The Five, maybe, perhaps.

  • @Valkod23 The who? Well whoever they were, they can kiss my ass for talking smack about me.

  • @MrUncreated The Five.. from Throne of Bhaal. Even though there's six, it's probably that half-dragon doorguard as well, considering how powerful he was.

  • @Valkod23 maybe you're right but i would bet the sixth would be Melisan as she was the baddest bitch in the game. Her HP was so ridiculous. anyways, she was pretty much the leader of the Five so i figure that she would be there too.

  • fail..... into the lava u go.

  • @maigemichael

It took at least 5-10 of the most powerful being in BG to take him down. He killed one and didn't go down without a fight. Definitely earns my respect :)

    Irenicus ftw!

  • Commander Shepard at 1:32. Awesome.

  • Irenicus shoulda rolled a monk :P

  • " To end like THIS?"

    Gotta love Irenicus

  • @lebennin17 Yeah he nails it. One of my favorite lines of his. It just drips contempt and frustration

  • For me it looked like he's been punished in a very personal way. His magic was denied from him and he was overwhelmed by slayer like chirping demons - mocking his ambitions about using the bhaal powers.

The chit-chat with the cowled guys is rather weak tough. They are clones and some of them has poorly modulated voice like the pal telling "But can we be so sure?".

  • The one situation in which everyone would wish they had chosen the monk class.

  • With this style of animation, they could of easily made Baldur's Gate II into a movie

  • lol all the devils jumped in after him even though he got tackled off

  • @Rindingal immunity to fire, so... who cares!

  • Merry devils !

  • Hey there interwebs!

I recently just started up my Let's Play channel with some Let's Plays of various games, including Baldur's Gate 2.

So if your looking for something similar go ahead and check out my channel.

If you're willing to check it out, here's a selection of playlist of my Let's Plays :

    /watch?v=U4tdFMh6gfc

  • Am I the only one who felt that Irenicus was taken out in a similar vein to Scar in The Lion King? Perhaps it's just me...

  • 1:32 - Mark Meer - aka Commander Shepard, lol!

  • 0:56 Shows that this guy has some skills! xD

  • And now we've got "Oh so the Champion disappeared just like the Grey Warden, I hope people will pay for some DLC!"

How far the mighty have fallen...

  • one of the best game ever

  • I want a Baldur's Gate III :(

  • what a beautiful job on the ending! i loved it.

  • arent these guys members of the twisted rune?

  • Why oh why is that not David Warner...

  • I was like "bro, give me back my soul. this isn't cool" and he totally did not listen to me.

  • I always wondered whats the name of the demons that attacked Irenicus, or were they just created for the cinematic?

  • and they all took a little tumble off the cliff

  • @woodslore I bet they all didnt land very soft after that, but in hell you cant die, but you can be eaten, so I think Irenicus is stuck with giving blow jobs to all those demons or they will eat him.

  • just finished the game. great game bg2!

but i thought the ending was ridiculous. for a god-like magician that jon irenicus is to end like this... plunged into a sea of fire by some random moronic demon minions... they could have thought of something more epic in my opinion.

  • @trappedsoul7 I think the ending is awesome and it makes perfect sense. Jon Irenicus stole the soul of a Bhaalspawn, thanks to which a battle between you and Jon took place be cause even your soul was stolen by him, you still had a connection to it be cause you are the Bhaalspawn, so you had to fight for it. Once you reclaimed what was yours the taint of Bhaal condemned Irenicus to this hellish place. Such is the price to pay when dealing with the taint of Bhall. hehehe

  • Comment removed

  • @trappedsoul7 Who knows, maybe one day Irenicus will return more hellish than ever, armed with new knowledge, and ready to cause more trouble. hehehe By the way I think the whole game is epic.

  • @trappedsoul7 But for now he will have to receive special treatment as a guest in hell, and give a blow job to every single of those demons that jumped on him, until he finds a way out of there, and that is a very very long time. hehehe

  • @trappedsoul7 You got to remember for all the power he's got, the fear, terror, sorrow and insanity he inflicted on others and the fact he lost all emotions as he claimed, I knew he still had one FEAR, as he put you through all that #$%^ just so he could steal your soul in order to save himself from his deserved death and try again to become a god, Sadly for him the one he looked down on (you) not only ruined everything for him but assured he was condemned to a hell fitting for him LOL.

  • i wonder if Joneleth Irenicus survived...

  • @emurikaw Devils are immune to fire. Unfortunately for Irenicus, he isn't.

  • take note out there devs

3d does not a good game make.

  • Infinite Engine FTW!! Today's RPGs are way too cluttered with useless shit going on @ your screen, developers are focusing on graphics rather than gameplay & story telling and they end up with a mess of stupid dialogs, shitty game mechanics and great explosions. The BG series is still the best single player RPG (or even computer game, for some) ever created because of its EPIC storyline, addictive gameplay & amazing detail. Not to mention the insane replay-ability..ever tried solo wild mage? doh!

  • @mixas6678 Solo wild mage? Whooh. Time to dig up my old CDs again...

  • Irenicus is 2nd on my 2-man list of badass mages. Magus from Chrono Trigger is obviously first :P

  • @kfijatass

Having his nipples on display de-badassifies him. Ever since I saw this for the first time, I havent been able to take Irenicus seriously. Knowing that the man giving me a Hannibal Lecture is doing so with his man-boobs hanging out throws him into "comedy relief" territory.

Even Minsc has enough sense to wear a proper shirt.

  • Ha ha ha Irenicus without spells: oh yeah :)

  • mine shown a dark priest kneeling before a great sarcoughagus and it was a divine king

  • & there, Baldurs Gate 2 is between Metal Gear Solid at nr#20 & Gears of War at nr#18.

  • Jon Irenicus: "to end like this?

    "RAWR!"

Jon Irenicus: "me and my big mouth" -.-

  • i completed this game a while back and while i LOVED it i didn't quite get the ending who are the guys talking at the end, why did Irenicus have to die again to get sent to that hellish place only to get killed again by some lemmings, i loved the game im just a little confused by the ending can someone fill in my questions :S?

  • @elfmann243 the guys at the end are the other children of bhaal. They got aware of your moves now that you defeated irenicus and are planning to destroy you before you become too strong. They appear at the third game and are really strong.

About irenicus, when you defeat him the first time, you go to hell because he stole part of your soul..then,when you're dragged to hell with him,you must beat him once for all to recover this part.In the end, irenicus loses all power and becomes a weakling.

  • @Saturnwalker ah ty so the guys at the end are the ppl from throne of bhall. I understand you and Irenicus go to hell ect, but why do those little goblin things have to throw him into the lava lol, he died twice already why did he have to die again?

  • @elfmann243 who said he dies again?rs..irenicus is already dead when the demons push him from the cliff...so he'll just agonize if he falls into the lava pool.

  • @Saturnwalker Thats his soul and he cant cast magic in hell because its dead magic zone like in baldurs gate 2 throne of bhaal watchers keep dungeon

  • @SuperJonirenicus i known. But you known what happens to the souls of people like irenicus in forgotten realms..generally when someone dies in amn he is sent to the fugue plane(gray zone)to be judged, but irenicus was sent directly to hell, because the gods don't have simpathy for anyone that tries to stole divine power.People like him receive a "special treatment' ,being pursued and tortured by lemures through hell until become completely mad..then they turn into eternal slaves of the demon lords.

  • @Saturnwalker if you played the game though you know those weren't lemures, lemures are basically blob people really ugly and melted, those were Slayers' a state of mind and body that can take over any Bhaal spawn. Slayers are a specific type of demon from Bhaals hell. In the game Irenicus pushs your chracter to the point of nearly becomeing one, but you change back. Here it showd him getting gang raped by some of the other Bhaal spawn sent to hell.

  • @TheBlackAshTree Ahn..i guess you don't known that this game is based on forgotten realms, do you? If you read the f.realms rpg book, you'll see that the lemures are demons sent by the greater demons to pursue souls like the ones of irenicus. There are demons and devils,by the way:the baatezu and tannari.Lemures are lesser baatezu.

So these creatures here aren't slayers, since they're aren't dead bhaalspaws. Baldur's Gate had few bhaalspaws:beside you, imoen and sarevok, there were only more six.

  • @Saturnwalker Yes, they are. I play DnD 2.0-3.0 and have meddled in ODnD, ive read every entry on Lemures in all the handbooks I have and I have nearly ALL of the forgotten realms books either in hard back or paperback from Drizzt and Artemis to Cadderly the Priest. SO I do have a fairly good idea of what im talking about. ALSO in Throne of Bhaal after BG: 2 you find that there were TONS of Bhaal spawn most were killed by other bhaal spawn, however there were a handful of very powerful ones.

  • @SuperJonirenicus I think he cannot cast spells, coz normally Mystra has the power to "shut that door" to arcane casters.

Also, its not the plane of toril, rather a small room from Bhaals plane, thus there might not be Weave in that plane of existence. Tho after using magic for personal gains so many times at the cost of so many lives I wud say it might still be Mystras hand in it.

  • @elegemvan1 Mystra can't deny spells in others planes than Toril. He is in hell so is spells can't be denied... It's more likelly it didnt work cause he is dead

  • @elegemvan1 The god of death, Bane can help Irenicus. Who is bane? U can find battle of 3 gods from Umar, there is a book. Bane vs Mystra vs Bhaa. And the on top of the 3 Gods, there is another God called Ao, the creator of all, yet he is too old and has lost interest on ruling the world, so he gave power to those 3 and they started to fighting each other.

  • @elfmann243 It's just like Saturnwalker said about the people at the end, they are the most powerful of Bhaal's children that sort of formed a cabal together for the third game Throne of Bhaal.

But as for Irenicus, I thought it was like the old saying "Hell is repetition" and that he is indeed in Hell and as one of the Condemned, he'd face an eternity of being 'killed' over and over and over, without his powers so he can 'die' weak and powerless as punishment for the grave sins he committed.

  • @KaraStarbuckNY Ah thanks mate, the explination of hell was what i was looking for xD

  • @elfmann243 No problem, and that might not be the case, I just know that's what 'I' thought it probably was.

  • Jon Irenicus is evil best game pool of radiance temple of elemental evil arcanum neverwinter nights etc

  • best game ever.

all these people yapping around dragon age and stuff should spend some of the 200+ hrs of the solo campaign on it.

  • Damn those are some crazy ass demon to just jump in that hot lava like that. If i was one of those demons i would be like,"fuck that guys, i ain't jumping into that lava pit are you fucking nuts?"

  • @Dopeamiine

Makes sense when you play the game since you discover towards the end of Irenicus that you're the reincarnation of Bhaal.

  • @Dopeamiine they have high fire resistance..and they're savage,rs..they just want to bite and slash irenicus at any cost..a ftting end to someone that thought to be untouchable.

  • @Saturnwalker Plus magic resistance about 50 like viconia the drow pristness

  • Commander shephard: There is no reason for concern; the fate of this fool has been sealed.

(yes, its Mark Meer, the VO of Commander shepherd.

  • David Warner was awesome in this

  • Poor Jon

  • the best dark game character

  • Jon Irenicus > EVERYTHING ELSE

  • ID JUST LOVE TO SEE MY KENSAI JUMP DOWN ONTO TEH TABLE AND SLAUGHTER THEM ALL

  • I love the demon that dives at the end :D

Lol it's like they're having a pool party in hell XD

But damn this game was epic :D

I hope they never make a movie of this game; sorry but how many game movies are actually good? The difference between a game and a film is a game can have so much more going on and if the side things were taken out in a movie adaption it just wouldn't be Baldurs Gate would it? Best Game ever :D

  • @Damocles178 BG is one of the few games that for years and yet feel compelled to play it again..the story leaves a mark on the player,ya known. You simply feel as if that epic story was part of your own too...and when you look back and remember of the motherfucker irenicus getting what he deserves at the end of the game, a nostalgic smile appears in your face. The feeling of triumph after overcoming all the obstacles...the perfect happy ending that we all search to our lives,rs.

  • @Saturnwalker Amen :) To this day R.P.G's are still the best when it comes to story telling. Most of the other categories have declined in quality. I loved NWN 2's story too but the camera angles being awkward kinda ruined the game for me. Icewind Dale, Baldurs Gate and Never Winter Nights are epic :) The music is epic too :D

  • @Damocles178 ah aha ah. You forgot Final Fantasy 7.

  • the voice is excellent

  • The same actor plays a role in the Horatio Hornblower movies...

  • @Progreen7

No, the voice actor for Irenicus is David Warner. Not Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot in the shitty movie 'king arthur').

  • I never said it was Ioan Gruffud... I said it was a role in the horatio hornblower movies. David Warner plays Captain James Sawyer in the hornblower movies...

  • @Progreen7

    My mistake, gotcha!

  • Waaaaiiit that guy who starts with "There is no need to be concerned" is apparently Mark Meer (Cmdr. Shepard) as he mentioned in his interview :P

  • @WolfhoundMercenary

I was looking for that line too!

  • Baldur's Gate saga cries for a well made and cared for movie

  • last demon Dammage= INFINATE

  • zergling rush kekekeke

  • great game and story, but remember bioware took inspiration from SSI gold boxes games, takin them to a new level

  • All those demons look like Doom 3 vulgars.

  • One of the BEST and most underrated villains EVER! The character is so realistic and believable in his mad desire for power... they just don't make them today like they did back then.

  • @Selageth Seriously, one of the best villians ever in gaming history. Always wish to be him when I grew-up, L:!

  • I wish they made Baldurs Gate 3. On the other hand let the classics rest and be rememberd for their greatness.

  • I just beat Shadows of Amn and started screaming like a 3 year old when Irenicus died for the final time.

  • I always had very mixed feelings regarding Irenicus. A times i wanted to kill him for the words he spoke about how weak i was and so on. But still i couldn´t forget that i was just like him, wanting to seek the greatest powers possible. I always hoped at some point in the game that i could be his student or something. Great game, great story line, so many possibilities. Definetly one of the best games i have played ever in my life. and that says alot.

  • wtf!! they left it open for a 3rd one! why the heck didn't they make one??

  • well, thats what happens when youre evil and decide to mess with one of Baahls kids!

  • Why did his spell fizzle?

  • This is one of the best stories ever. I can not believe you think this is overrated, if anything it is underrated.

  • sorry, but in story, planescape torment wins. ;)

  • easily one of the best games ever made

  • am i wrong in assuming that this ending set the stage for a concluding game where these guys were prosecuting you?

what was really released was a slimmed down expansion and all that. i know the story why that happened... but i'm seriously curious about the role of the council of six in the planned story.

  • I thought they were gonna walk up and say o0o0o0o0o0o0 SHINIES!

  • 1:34 is Mark Meer! :D Commander Shepard!

  • You heard that from UncleGamer's podcast, didn't you? :P

  • Indeed!

  • but can you be so sure?

    :P

  • Solo this game with a Fighter/Mage/Thief with the lvl cap remover and you wont think that anymore. I did the very same thing and nothing in the game proved a challenge once you have to right items and spells.

Carry over your character to TOB and even that is fairly easy. Some tough fights but nothing too taxing

  • This is what Jon gets for killing Khalid.

  • irenicus was a very eccentric villian, seeing those dreams and cutscenes in the game you have of him keept me on toes espically the one where he takes over the magic prison place, i was like great, i get to fight hime soon

  • Irenicus was such a crazy villain.

  • @Mikeanglo you are Jon Irenicus only villain because when he was young his slo got stolen!! so he wants it back!! From tree of life

  • @SuperJonirenicus and dont ask why my name is superjonirenicus

  • lol wtf? xD

I take it he was the bad guy then?

I played the first one for a while

but watchign these ending videos makes no fucking sense! lol

  • That's kind of a point. You really need to track entire storyline to really understand the ending videos. You probably didn't understand the first part of saga either.

  • @SmokyCerberus Well excuse me Smoky! I don't know what u mean by I probably didn't understand the first part of sage either, but I loved BG 1 and Just today and recently I have really wanted to find it so I could play it, I don't really like the storyline very much that you have to fight that guy to get revenge and stuff, but I really look forward to playing it again, so don't be such a jerk I was just saying that it was strange seeing the video so don't get angry.

  • @AceTheSly2 LOL, I didn't get angry. I just stated that you didn't understand the storyline. Revenge is not the only motive for kicking Sarevok's but. It's the fact that he wants you dead that is pushing your character to that kind of confrontation.

BTW, U should try reading the book Baldur's Gate, it's much better than merely playing the game which allows you much deeper characterization of PC.

  • Lemmings in Hell.

  • @Luciferus200581 Jipphii

  • Irenicus was voiced by David Warner, a well known actor. His voicing was perfect, Irenicus was a fantastic villain.

  • Was this one instance really played by Warner, though?

  • yeah, totally. David Warner provided Irenicus' voice :)

  • well i disagree a bit

his motivations were fairly ordinary, the game set him up as far more sophisticated as a mad scientist/wizard

the buildup for irenicus was great, he was a different kind of asshole from Sarevok

but as far as fucking up his plans it was more satisfying with sarevok

  • Ordinary? He had his elven heart replaced with a human heart. That is anything but ordinary!

  • Man, This is the end for someone who is evil...!

  • Sarevok could have survived xD

  • Yeah... but he couldnt have survived the 3xAbi Zadirs Horiid wilting that my contingency gave irenicus before the battle had even started.

  • Helloooo Sarevok is Spell Immune, at least in the original non-Sword Coast version.

  • Nobody can say "To end like this!" like he can :) There's just something about the way he says it and it makes it a classic.

  • Comment removed

  • He got what he deserved.

And the emotion you feel with what is happening to him is indeed horrible x-)

  • Great game. Nowadays all PC games are just console ports :(

  • Love it..

Bye bye Jon, we'll miss you (not really xD)

  • Well, I will; for real. Not many VG villains are as well-executed and well-voiced as Jon Irenicus.

In fact, none are as well-executed and well-voiced as Jon Irenicus.

  • hahaha el "not really" was ironic.

Jon is one of the best villains i ever seen on a game

  • lmao =) the demons all jumped right in the lava with him

  • I don't understand why his magic didn't work. Only in Outlands magic cannot work.

  • "Only in Outlands magic cannot work."

What, is that a new rule in 4th Edition or something?

'Cause magic works just fine when exploring the Outlands in Planescape: Torment.

  • It depends on where you are in the Outlands, the closer you get to Sigil, the more spells are impeded. (except on Sigil). It's in all D&D rules.

  • Interesting. Is there a reason as to why spells are impeded? Lady of Pain involved?

In PS:T, only the outskirts of the Outlands are explored; specifically, Curst, a gate town that borders Carceri. So that could be why I didn't suffer (or detect) any limitations on spellcasting.

  • Don't know for sure but it's a sort of "no-man's land" for all deities and powers. In fact even their powers start to be impeded the more they get close to the centre of "The Great Wheel", the centre of the Multiverse (at least for the Greyhawk campaign)

  • As far as I know, all D&D-based video games have used the Forgotten Realms campaign, but I don't see why it'd be any different from Greyhawk with regards to Sigil.

The reason must be the Lady of Pain. She alone rules Sigil and doesn't take kindly to other deities invading her territory. It's also said that she dislikes worshippers of any kind, including those of herself.

Yeah... I think I'll read up on it some more, but anyway, thanks for the info. =)

  • Irenicus not died. He is alive. For ever...

  • The best game of all time.

  • @Saturnwalker

yes, but 1 baldurs gate is nice too :)

  • @Saturnwalker No,it's acutally nr#19.Check out Empire Top 100 Greatest Games.

  • @ningeaBLADEclanuBECA

i raise my middle finger to empire...who cares about it's ranking?Whoever played bg2 until the end will always prefer it over any fucking game.

  • ive already played baldur's gate 1, 2, and icewindale 1 and 2. does anyone know where to get tales of the sword cost or throne of bhaal!? i cant find them anywhere.

  • gamestop

  • Ebay

  • @jchazzmo Faggot

  • @TheJakan All he was doing was answering Diablo254's question. Doesn't it make YOU a cunt if you spam him and try to get him to reply with flames towards you? By the way, next time you try and insult somebody, try the following: Complete sentences make it clearer, spell out your "You's" and think before you spam insults.

  • does anyone know where i can still buy this game.... especially tales of the sword coast

  • Ebay

  • @jchazzmo u CUNT!

  • @jchazzmo u CUNT!

  • Does anybody know if there's a mod that gives you more GORE?

  • They all looked liked Slayer Forms xD If thats the case he was pwnedz from the begining!

    Muwhahah

  • They aren't slayers. They're just some random demons. The slayer was an avatar of Bhaal.

  • I hate those silly cowardly wizards sitting around the table.I killed all of them in game and some of those bastards must survive of course!

  • i have heard that the people around the table at the end are the council of six, it would be an interesting plot twist if this was true

  • He is in the Nine Hells of Baator, land of Devils (Baatezu), not Demons (Tana'Ri) and that Devils are Hamatulas.

Also, Irenicus is a 30 Elf Mage! Even without spell, the Hamatulas are no match against him. I wonder the Bhaalspawn really weakened him, XD.

After al, BURN IN HELL, IRENICUS!

  • Wrong. The critters are neither Baatezu or Tana'ri but Yugoloths or Mezzoloths to be exact. Irenicus is Neutral Evil so he ends up somewhere in Gehenna .

  • Actually, Irenicus is Chaotic Evil. You can use Shadowkeeper to view him, and it shows his alignment. I believe Chaotic Evil people end up in the Abyss.

  • @MarcusTrinnias Irenicus was indeed Neutral Evil.

  • The part at the end with all the people around the table is the same video at the end of BG1.
