  • Such a beautiful song that sings to the colors of life. Even if one doesn't understand Italian, the emotions are universally understood.

  • It only means there's no boundaries when it comes to music for it is a universal gift.

  • why Italian ?

  • why not? it´s a beautiful language...and a beautiful voice singing a beautiful language that´s just a perfect match ^^

meaning 7 years or so ago.

Mommy use to listen to him..

    :]

  • i agree

  • bellissimo!

  • Though this comes from a serious metalhead, this truly rocks. Sumbitch.

  • Awesome Performance!

    Awesome Song!

    Awesome Duet!

    Awesome Josh ^^

  • I've been listening to this song (with the lyrics next to me) every night for the last 5 weeks. My previous comments are poor compared to what I feel each time. How can there be such wonder in something that SOUNDS so SIMPLE ? That's beyond me. If you ANALYSE that song, you'll realize how COMPLEX it is.

The eery celtic bagpipe + the violin solo + the drums that changes the rhythm + Josh's opera style + the pop-bit + the mixture of English and Italian, and what do you get ? SOMETHING UNIQUE !

  • I agree with everything shangginli said, thank you, pippinmerry, for putting up the complete song! I love everything Josh sang in this concert (when he was just a wee lad!), but Canto was one of the standouts...

Oh, and someone mentioned Josh's little smile, I love that, too! It reminded me of the nervous smile he gave Celine at the end of "The Prayer" when he was 17 and she stopped singing and he was still going! He's so adorable!

  • Thanks Kevin. I guess lots of us are "josh-addicts"... if I may say so.

  • Ahh, we are so fortunate to have 'grobanitis,' aren't we! Who wants a cure from something/someone so fabulous? (Of course, I've had to pull back from my enthusing in front of my husband, he's started giving me that 'stern' expression whenever I get a bit carried away!)

  • Dear Kevin, 'grobanitis' is the only disease that is a blessing to be affected with. I'll never want to be cured from it. Hope your husband catches it too.... Keep well

  • You are so right, shangginli, I'm sure not looking to get over it! As for my husband, well, I'll keep hoping. He was grudgingly impressed with Josh's drum solo on VH1 (who doesn't like a drummer?), but I think he'd become a fan if Josh went bald and got chubby!-) At the moment, there's too much adorableness going on...

  • A bit jealous he is then ? Just tell your husband you find Josh perfectly ugly and you only like the way he sings.....

  • Another stunning performance by Josh starting with an unexpected celtic bagpipe intro and a wonderful violin solo. The "pop" rythm and the bit in English blend in quite well, and even reinforce Josh's opera style by providing an harmonious contrast. Goes to show you can mix different musical styles and still obtain a wonderful result. I prefer this version to the other one

  • I agree. I loooove the Uilleann pipes...I just wish I knew who that player was..incase he has a cd out. I've never heard anything this beautiful...I actually have tears in my eyes...and for once it isn't just because of Josh.

  • To Vitweb in reply to your question (Which video precisely ?).

The one submittted by Bjsondak viewed 169,808 times. Mainly, I'm missing something in the lyrics in Part 4. What I've found on the Net up to now doesn't sound right

  • come fosse sabbia ...

  • To vitweb: I've made a translation (see the other video). I'd like your opinion and corrections. Grazie mille.

  • the exacts words are dedicato a chi la sente inaridita come sabbia asciutta tra le dita e la sente già finita.translation dedicated to whom that fell it( life)become parched likedry sand in his fingers and feel it already done. i'm italian from bologna ciao vit

  • Now I understand. Thanks! :) You're Italian so you hadn't any problems with this. ;] And my language is neither italian nor english. Unfortunately...

  • im adding this to favorites! :)

  • Can someone tell me what does mean this stanza:

Dedicato a chi l'ha sempre inaridita

Come impossessato, uscita fra le dita

    Era sempre gia finita

I saw english translation, but I don't know what does mean 'made it dry' and 'slipped through fingers' it must be idioms... because world for world translation is pointless.

  • I love that little smile while he's still singing...*heart attack*

  • He is very young here. When was this filmed? Just curious because he seems very very young here. I Love this song. but I'm so used to listening to it by himself.

  • it was filmed in 2002.

  • love the interlude from 4:06 to 4:16 especially, with the piano delicately balancing the emotional bowing of strings

  • Josh Groban's talent is undoubted, but what made this video for me was the violinist's (sorry forgot her name) preliminary cadenza from 0:34 to 1:02. And of course, she was equally brilliant after that.

  • The violinist is Lili Haydn.

  • Ah, thank you, that's the name!

  • i like andrea's voice...what a unique combination!especially when the chorus part,when she sings sounds lika alto :)

  • LINDO!!!

  • bravo josh

    bellissima andrea!

    grazie pippinmemerry

  • I absolutely loved it! I love The Coors, and I love Josh Groban, so seeing them perform together was incredible!

  • Great!
