You do realize that income tax doesn't include savings... it depends on yearly income. If you save up 250 thousand dollars, it won't be taxed.

You will only be taxed if you're making 250 dollars per year..

You concentrate on income in the same way the tax system does. Taxable income is not the amount you keep. Make 250k in a year - have 223k of expenses that are not considered business write offs, and get TAXED on 250k. Whatever interest you make on savings gets taxed at a higher % rate than the interest rate. That is why saving alone without additional investment is not a retirement plan...

If you have 223K expensive, that wouldn't be considered under Obama's tax plan. I believe that would be the gross revenue.. not the profit (the part the owner actually keeps).

No - LIVING EXPENSES!!! Living expenses are not written off. You make 250 - get taxed on 250 - but during the same year, you spent 200 on living expenses that are not tax write offs...The government doesn't pay your mortgage. You might be able to claim the interest, but that's all. You want your son or daughter to take piano lessons or not? You can't have the government pay for that, and on and on...

first off... no one spends 200K on living expenses.. I was in the context of business expenses... If you do spend 200K on living, you matter well be buying a home every year while you're at it.

Second, I never said it would be written off.. However, if you reinvest in you business, that money won't be taxed... you would get a tax cut..

The context of taxation falls under "Obama's tax plan".. If you're not going to stay in that frame, any discussion would be pointless.

No, you're not taking into account the total tax amount. And you are ignoring the fact that the extra grand is already spoken for in additional expenses that mean you don't actually keep the entire grand. Unless you choose to deny yourself the additional luxuries that money could have bought, or trade off expanding your business by spending some or all that extra grand. See? That's at the heart of the argument. It is the question as to whether you hold in regard most of your fellow citizens..
