That last phase of the missile is the terrain hugging phase.
Any missile can be detected by ground radars, including the Babur. No American expert has commented on Babur's capabilities. A good guidance method doesn't mean that the missile can hit targets with accuracy. A whole lot more factors like reliability of propulsion system, tolerance of electronics to heat/electronic/radio waves, swiftness of control surfaces on missile, frequency of update of signal, signal strength, delay in electronics etc.

@Ahmad12791: This is a shameless missile..!! Can be detected by Infrared Imagers..!!! Nirbhay is going to have a much more advanced guidance system!! Babur when detected can be intercepted easily as it will take atleast 5 min to hit the target brahmos hardly 1 min and 35 secs

@Ahmad12791: Almost every modern day cruise missile have terrain hugging capabilities, that includes the Brahmos. But NO cruise missile follows a terrain hugging trajectory throughout. The missile first reaches a suitable altitude where atmosphere is rare, and picks up speed. When it gets close to the target, it slows down, and comes close to the ground. That last phase of the missile is the terrain hugging phase.

Any missile can be detected by ground radars, including the Babur. No American expert has commented on Babur's capabilities. A good guidance method doesn't mean that the missile can hit targets with accuracy. A whole lot more factors like reliability of propulsion system, tolerance of electronics to heat/electronic/radio waves, swiftness of control surfaces on missile, frequency of update of signal, signal strength, delay in electronics etc.

@TheARMAProductions If it is GPS, they could only use the civilian signal which isn't good enough for precision strike. It uses an INS most likely which is good enough to deliver a nuke which is what this missile is really for.
