The funny thing is you can install Windows in your MacBook and start playing games and by the time you need to continue your work you can just switch back to Mac OS X.
But for Windows, well you can't switch between these two awesome operating system.
Well this is what i think people should do baisically if you want a computer for gaming a mac is not whatyou are looking for but if you want video editing or any other sort of media a mac is perfect

@eclipsemoon98 So you're planning to game on a mac..... *facepalm* NO! The graphics on macs aren't as efficient as they are on windows, but still more efficient then they are on most distributions of linux. Unless you plan to buy a macbook pro only to install windows on it, then I suggest you put your money back into your pocket, personally, and get some other computer, like an Alienware, Lotus, Dell, HP, or if you're planning to buy an overpriced computer, a VAIO.
@GlupoiDoesTech I wasnt planning to game on it... I just needed the details to see if I should just go on ahead and buy a Alienware M17x (I dont want that M18x...doesnt seem worth it...)
@eclipsemoon98 Well, the AMD GPU found inside the 2012 macbook pro is only a mid level graphics card, which means it will run fine for games like Minecraft, and games that are a few years old. However, since chances are that you won't be playing just rift, and might try more intensive games, I'd go ahead and get something with a high end graphics card. It will suit your needs for gaming.
@GlupoiDoesTech Make up info as you go? I've played new games on the highest settings at both 1680 and 1920 wide just fine. I'm not saying it's a "gamers machine" but it performs better than you're trying to make it out to.
@eclipsemoon98 For the love of God don't get an Alienware. They're flashy looking yes, but they're overpriced and underpowered for what is supposed to be a "gaming" laptop. Not as blatantly overpriced as a Mac, but still overpriced. Plus Dell customer support is absolutely fucking terrible.
Look into ASUS or MSI instead. The ASUS G74SX is still one of the better ones out and it's fairly cheap. You can get them as low as $1300 for the lowest model, which is still very powerful.
I love how the ONLY comment about Windows machines is "DURR TEH GAYMING!" ... Yeah, because no one else does anything else on computers. Stick to playing games on your cheap machines. No one cares.
@dversusd Apple devices aren't really used professionally for much more than sound and video editing, the latter being ironic due to the fact that the graphics hardware on apple computers aren't very "High end", meaning longer render times, and poorer performance overall, with an operating system that isn't very efficient when it comes to graphics in the first place, and an operating system that already places a lot of load on graphics processes with wobbly windows, genie effect, and such tricks
@GlupoiDoesTech I should rephrase. Video, Photoshop, 3D rendering doesn't use GPU ... it uses the CPU. While editing video, it uses the GPU for realtime effects - if possible. "Realtime" ... so where is that slow when it's realtime? Whether I'm rendering in After Effects, Maya, or Final Cut ... all final and preview rendering is in CPU power ... not GPU.
@GlupoiDoesTech And just on a side note, using Flash (one of the worst Adobe programs on the Mac) , I had to edit hundreds of frames from an animation. Windows Flash would get an out of memory Error ... the Mac Flash would keep trucking and do what I needed to do to keep going. Oops, but I couldn't play Skyrim - sorry, I make money with my computer, not waste time with it.
If you love Apple, and you don't need CD rom or a video editor, Macbook Air is the way to go. It's also slanted for the keyboard so it's much easier to type. Has the backlit keyboard now so it's a great product.
I think for the price of the MacBooks, it's worth it! Because you're getting a lot of power with a long lasting battery, possibly an SSD, more RAM than most laptops out there and the Mac OS X!
@420cackaroach Yup, twice the specs, plus better specs. Apple products are very well built, but at the same time they feel a bit cheap. Like built on purpose to last exactly a year.
@420cackaroach sorry, no one has yet been able to show me. You can prove your own bullshit, I don't need to waste my time trying to debunk false claims, when clearly the people making these claims can't back them up.
@NACHOOMANN You're obviously not a spacial relations type guy either. Are you comparing a Macbook Air to a Macbook Pro? Is that your comment? For one, they didn't "go back" - MBPs have always been around. Bulky? yeah, less than 1inch is crazy bulky like those Dell bricks. Anyhow, I'll educate you on what makes them "bulky": Optical drive, SD card drive (or ExpressCard), more IO ports, video card, space for a non-SSD, a fan, probably a larger power supply and I'm sure some other things.
@Starkiller1036 FINALLY, it's about time someone other than me exposes this stupid shit stain....I remembered that stupid prick from MTV when MTV used to play music videos. He and Blair whateverhislastname is weren't like this when they were both VJ's at MTV. All of a sudden when they go on this show, G4TV, they suddenly act silly as if they (Chris and Blair) had anything to do with the success of AOTS. They both try way too hard (Chris mostly) and it comes off tacky as hell
@TheVeefazz I have it. It's pretty good, and the customization factor of the stick resistance is nice, and the two programmable buttons can be handy, but can be difficult to reach at times. Also the triggers are a little "funky" to deal with. There are also complaints of it not being the best of quality and breaking within a few months. For some reason, my friends in the party heard a strange buzzing noise when I shot, but not with the standard controller.
omg chris
