I spent 4 years trying to get off this poison. Cold turkey switch to Paxil CR = full body hives and brain zaps 5x/minute. Switch method to Prozac or Celexa - both failed. Taper method down to 20mg, then forced up to 30mg when a refill wasn't correctly manufactured. Taper down to 15mg after 3 years... stayed there until couldn't afford it and back to 20 I went...
In a earlier depression I used prozac, which did a great job. 5 years later, I got the cheaper paxil which was way to harsh. Quit immediately after a week, and asked for prozac. Still on prozac 18 months later doing fine.
I've been told we all react different to AD's; some are a lifesaver for you, but a living hell for another.
@jtabor13 that's great, it helped me too 12yrs ago as a 15yo kid with anxiety. But try coming off of it and you will know how tough it is. I was at 40mg, then 30, 20, 10 and started 5mg today. Hope to God I can get off without any worse withdrawal symptoms. It is poison.
paxil contains fluorine, which is toxic to the brain, liver and other organs.Dont take this shit. This is not alarmist BS.Look it up.Paxil, prozac and many other drugs contain fluorine(fluoride)We get enough fluorine elsewhere,we dont need it from our anti-depressants.
ive taken paxil before and have never noticed a change in my moods or anything so i just quit after a few tries. but i took prozac for years and didnt have withdrawels other than mood swings. unlike oxycontin withdrawels where i was one sick dog for almost 7 to 11 days. and still had cravings for it over a month long. untill finally i took suboxone and got off it without the painfull withdrawels and then i quit the suboxone after a couple of weeks and i have been clean 8 weeks now.
Hi, shit this vid is really crazy. I vbeen using paxil for 5 months last year 20 mg/day I didnt had problem with withdrawal but 8 years 40 mg like addict u more like any other drug like heroin. peace
psychiatrists destroy lives, families, brains, minds and souls and the individual is tortured forever. there is no justice to hold psychiatrists accountable. they always win.
Lose someone you care about? Lose your job, your home, your wife, your child? Well good news, we have a pill for that. It'll numb you to the pain but the nightmares will steal your sleep. In a few years time we'll give you a dozen other pills just to treat the side effects. You'll have spells of extreme depression and suicidal tendencies on the pills, but you'll be an emotionless machine immune to touch most of the time so it'll balance out.
I hated the nightmares the worst, I was scared to dream at night, the dizziness I could handle, even the zaps and the anger and sadness, but the dreams were too much to handle!!
well the worst is over still get lightheaded an dizzy thats it after 10 yrs it will be 1 year in jan. i have gotten off those fuckin pills all i have to say is hang in there its really hard N FUCK SSRI'S
I was on 90 mg a day for 8 years, came off in 3 weeks, lost it. Put back on, the feelings of unreality went away but I felt self destructive again (was never suicidal before paxil) and then put on celexa, slived myself to ribbons because of invisible insects. 40 stitches. I decided then to go cold turkey off this shit. Been off since Oct 9, very anxious, feel constantly (have since going off paxil 18 months ago). My arm is permanently scarred, brain damaged and 10 years up in smoke.
day 5: coming down from 20mg-10mg,i am still nauseous and dizzy, the chills i have are never ending,i have thoughts of anger and everytime i move my eyes i hear a woooshing sound it is by far the most dangerous drug i have ever taken in my life i have had Diarrhea and puking my brains out,i cry uncontrollably and my nightmares are out of this world,i cant wait to rid of this pill of hell
this video is pretty accurate in describing paxil withdrawal. Day 5 for me cold turkey. Horrible terrifying withdrawals. Need to be free of this substance.
I cried when i saw this. it is me! I stopped cold turkey after 10 years basically because I ran out, couldn't see a Dr. for 3 days.
It's day 11 and the nightmares have stopped..Thank God! Still have the electric shocks tho...aren't those just F...ing amazing!!! I will not put that drug back into my body for any reason, I will die first. Good luck on this journey to hell, for that is what it is. You will get through this i am sure. i ahve to believe that since I know i'm still on the road too
Two weeks? OMG are you insane? Did you not see the rest of us in that video? You'll be sorrrryyyyy! I'm so sad for you. I also thought Paxil was saving my life when I started.
nice video im going through really bad withdrawls right now and its hell, but better get off them while I can. thanks doc for making my dreams a living hell:(
I was diagnosed with depression at the age of 12, and the doctor put me on paxil. I was on it for 12 years! This past July I made a decision...if I was going to have kids someday I would have to stop, I wanted to get it over with. I went cold turkey straight to Wellbutrin, The first two weeks were a living hell, and I didn't feel 100% like myself until about three months later. I feel alive for the first time since I can remember, paxil made me sleep all the time, gain weight and feel helpless.
Did the reinstating paxil stop your withdrawal?I stupidly cold turkeyed off this a YEAR ago I am thinking of throwing in the towel I have so many withdrawal symptoms it isnt even funny.I feel like I am slowly dying from a painful disease, the bad thing is is that my stupid doctor has had me on klonopin for 7 years on top of the paxil man I am damned if i do and damned if i dont but i have heard that the paxil may not work once you have been off of it.
do some research on quitting, the key is to SLOWLY quit. Now that you quite cold turkey, you will be needing a lot of suppliments and things to help repair your adrenyl glands and other things that were damaged. Dont go back no matter what, its a death sentence.
I was on it for 12 years and stopped cold turkey, tapering just prolonged the pain for me. It took three months to feel 100% free of withdrawal but it was worth every agonizing moment. I am now on wellbutrin and it works great.
You went off the drug and went back on another brain damaging chemical. You're not free, you're still on a brain damaging drug. You'll NEVER be able to get off. You're full of shit too.
This comment is over 6 months old...you don't know me, why would you say something like that to a person who suffers depression? I was really hurt until I realized you are NOBODY. NOTHING. A LOSER WHO HAS NO LIFE BUT TO COMMENT ON OLD POSTS. Also I have been off Wellbutrin for three months so FUCK YOU. You are a mean spirited person and I hope you can think of a time someone hurt you before you say fucked up things to people YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW!
I've been on klonopin since I was 18 (I am 27 and a half now) and was on 90 mg a day of paxil- I was also on about 8 different psychotropic drugs or things I didn't have at one point (jncluding lithium, even though I am not bipolar- my name here is a joke- but anyway they thought the lithium would help with my panic attacks. Have been on (all with no help or horrible side effects) klonopin, paxil, seroquel, lithium, and about 20 others (can't remember them all) Stay away from shrinks people!
I Understand. Attention all staff: we have a violent patient, I'm afraid a combination of Thorazine and shock therapy is in order. Please restrain the patient and administer the sedative now.
My life may be far from perfect today but I am happy because I am working on being healthy which includes staying clean and sober. For me that is the way to go. Some say they need these meds. that's for them to decide.
Yep, after almost ten years on this hideous substance I would have to say your withdrawal depiction is very, very accurate. Thank you for expressing yourself in this way, it takes courage to face all that horrifying crap and by doing so we can eventually let it go and free ourselves . Freedom is the last thing GSK wants any of us to have, so for every ssri addict that gets free, in goes another nail in the big-pharma coffin!!
Day 5 without paxil for me....I've been on 20mg daily for ...umm....7 months? I don't even know right now. This video pretty much explains the withdrawal symptoms. Feels like you're dreaming...all the time.. weird thoughts, horrible nightmares, hearing/sometimes seeing things, etc. BUT ...quitting is the best decision i've ever made. I just turned 21, dammit! I don't wanna be a effing zombie for the rest of my life.
I was put on zoloft to get off paxil.. It STILL TOOK A YEAR to get down to a speck of paxil weekly and a speck of zoloft before i lived with no more BRAIN,CHEST AND STOMACH ZAPS.
God, your stories sound so much like my Paxil torment four years ago. I suffered from withdrawal effects from this drug for nearly one year. Everything you mention I had at one point or another. I rarely now think about my experience with the SSRIs( I guess this shows how far I've healed since then), but what I can say to you is that you will survive this. Just keep on fighting and hope for that day when peace of mind returns. You're right, the doctors are often ignorant of paxil's effects.
The psychiatrists aren't ignorant of the drugs side effects and withdrawals. THEY KNOW what these drugs do to people's, minds, souls, bodies, nervous systems etc. They know EVERYTHING that these drugs tear apart families, cause violence, suicide, homicide etc. THEY WILL NEVER TELL YOU ITS THE DRUG AND BLAME IT ON YOUR SO CALLED INVENTED SO CALLED "MENTAL ILLNESS". PSYCHIATRISTS HAVE OVER 50+ YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCES THEY PRESCRIBE. THEY'LL NEVER TELL YOU THE DANGERS.
I agree marijuana may have made me paranoid but this FUCKEN PAXIL IS HELL!!! MARIJUANA DOSENT EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE HELL THAT PAXIL HAS CAUSED ME AND IVE BEEN ON 20 MG'S FOR 4 DAYS AND DROPPED TO 1/2 TAB TODAY 10MG AND I FUCKEN COLLAPSED WHILE MAKING A DRINK hell marijuana never made me collapse this drug is the worst i know datura didn't do this shit that paxil does ban the shit it is nasty!!!
i have been on it 4 days and i know about the hell fire flushes i thort i was in hell i couldn't walk without pain im glad im cutting down to be off the crap i hope il be ok this drug is hell!!!
i am taking 10mg paxil currently i have been on paxil for one month i will continue for 3 more months how do i withdrawal safely and if i withdrawal will i still have the side effects
3 weeks to a month is what they call the adjustment period.
Since you just started, you can just stop taking it NOW and have slight discomfort. 10mg is the testing faze, to see how you're body reacts. In this case you can just quit. The longer you take ssri's the longer it takes to get off. This goes for all ssri's my friend!
Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.
@fallasdf ask your doctor for another antidepressant to replace paxil and taper off with that such as prozac. You will not feel the withdrawal. Search google. You'll be surprised.
Withdrawing from paxil(11 years) it has been 2 1/2 weks..dr.took me off cold turkey was at work ended up in the emergency room the dr. gave me something for my nausea and for me to go back to my dr.he wants me on meds i said no but i cant go to work all the side effects the anger ..so many questions how long b 4 the withdrawls end and can we go to work ????
needless to say I am back on meds(serequel 100mg)and I do hate myself for it, after all the withdrawl symptoms it feels like i failed.I saw that my daughter was scared of me.I am all stressed out because of me not being able to go to work.
9 years on 60mg Paxil. I cold turkeyed June 2007. I'm still hanging on in there but last 14 months have been beyond description. Never ending horror movie. No end in sight.
the `freak out part` cannot be prevented i`m afraid..just make sure the people in your surroundings understand what your going through and constantly remind yourself what causes you to feel that way (withdrawal symphtoms)..or try to quit in parts (didn`t work for me,I just decided that enough was enough..(felt like crap for about6months)
I wanted to stay on it longer, actually, but my doc insisted. In the end I'm glad, because I'm on a new drug now that works almost as well, with almost no side effects at all.
I'll be going through Paxil withdrawal for the second time..I was cycled through medications the first time by a dumbass of a "doctor" who left me bedridden for a while a few years ago.
This time I'm trying to take it at an easy pace and not going on any other damn "psychiatric drugs". I've got an idea of what to expect and I will fight this until I'm over it or it kills me. First week cutting down to half my original dose right now..so far so good.
This bullshit is legal while they still deny decriminalization of marijuana, which isn't even 1% as harmful as any commercial anti-depressant and remedies depression 50x better. The FDA and the DEA are both pathetic in their lack of common sense...
search SSRI stories on the web. SHOCKING FACTS. i am a seroxat (paxil) user,it took me two and half years to withdraw 40mg to nil. dropping 1mg every six weeks or so, bad reaction at every drop, was off for four weeks, gone back on again 5mg, either that or suicide, hello world im still here, just.
Paxil sucks! The drug companies are killing people! I've been through the withdrawal myself. Withdrawal is much scarier than these graphics because it doesn't stop and its extremely intense. Many doctors and drug companies repeatedly deny withdrawal even exists! Then people wind up back on the poison because the withdrawal hurts too much.
Sorry, my bad. I forgot to clarify. I went through Paxil withdrawal. I will soon be going through Luvox withdrawal. I'm not expecting much of anything different though.
I'm 34 and have been on Paxil since I was 20. I've tried to get off of Paxil several times, but the side effects are hell.....

You can't just stop taking ssri's...Period! it can take 2 to 4 years to safely taper off of 60 mg.
send me a private message and I will do my best to help you!
tell me why you quit and "exactly" when you took your last dose.
Then I can give you an informative and appropriate response.
My response will more than likely scare you, but you need to know this is nothing to fuck with!
Withdrawal can ruin you're life.

YES..if they only knew the truth! they would run the other way.
The longer you take it, the longer it takes to get off.
No new prescriptions should be given to anyone...PERIOD! Not even lab mice.

My heart truly aches for all the victoms of this soul sucking toxin
that are fighting to save there sanity and lives while going through ssri withdrawal.
I failed in my year battle to get off, so I'm back on it again.
It was either that or self termination.
Just because you can't see or hear the pain of others, dosn't mean you're alone in the battle.
That's why I made this video!
I wish you well retrodolly!

You're not the only one, I'm back on it too!

i need help i cant get off every time i stop takin it i freak out if you have advice lemme know
graveplott47 3 years ago 4
the `freak out part` cannot be prevented i`m afraid..just make sure the people in your surroundings understand what your going through and constantly remind yourself what causes you to feel that way (withdrawal symphtoms)..or try to quit in parts (didn`t work for me,I just decided that enough was enough..(felt like crap for about6months)
I hope you come of it..take care.
augustina91 3 years ago
You got that right. It.s one of thee hardest SSRI's to get off of! Withdrawal will turn you're mind into you're worst enemy.

I was on 20 mg Paxil for about a month and quit with no withdrawal. The side effects were a bit too much, though (that's why I quit.)

Glad to hear you got off it so quick, before it had a chance to alter you're biological computations.
Smart decision becca!
crypticcarnage 3 years ago

SHOCKING FACTS. i am a seroxat (paxil) user,it took me two and half years to withdraw 40mg to nil. dropping 1mg every six weeks or so, bad reaction at every drop, was off for four weeks, gone back on again 5mg, either that or suicide, hello world im still here, just.
lorrietyre 3 years ago
If there way only one shocking and sad story about this hell drug it would be one too many.
I am shocked to hear you endured 2 ½ years of withdrawal. If I didn't go back on paxil I would not be here either.
It feels like failer to crawl back to the shit you tried for so long to get off of.
The state of being defeated and self shame won't last long at all, when the only choice is self termination.
Glad your still here! God speed lorrietyre!

Yes it does Paul!
It sucks the life out of people, creating a generation of zombies while on this shit.
Trying to get off of it is when your own mind becomes its worst enemy!

Thanks for the vid compliment...it was my first try.
I was put on it for simple anxiety and depression. Imagine a schizophrenic going through ssri withdrawal!
Holy shit! that would be hell inside of hell! :-(

Sorry, my bad. I forgot to clarify. I went through Paxil withdrawal. I will soon be going through Luvox withdrawal. I'm not expecting much of anything different though.

For those who go through bad withdrawal. it is truly hell!
Wish you the best Brad! Take it slow and easy!
crypticcarnage 3 years ago
Thanks!
I'm still going slowly, but I'm going to start cutting down to 1/4 of my original dose later this week.
