yes, it's a great freestyle, i wonder if somebody has edited this song, i'm curious how the freestyle part sounds, without the beat...don't get me wrong, i like the beat, i like almost all of wu tang's beats...i was just curious
I love this scene. Real poignant, and one of RZA's best beats. Incredible movie. If you like rap, samurai culture, and gangster movies, there is nothing better than this.
@sarasin64 I was talking about haitains who speak haitian creole which is not entirely french. Alot of their words are derived from african and amerindian languages....This is indeed a fact.

@CAZPERsayz i think they just use that to show how Ghost Dog had respect from both sides, also whats that got to do with RZA he just made the soundtrack he didn't write the plot, or maybe he had some influence I dunno
@Googlystube googly i dont think the character was lonely , he was living a samurai lifestyle , he did not care if he was lonely or not , he only cared for his master , (u gotta study bushido "way of the samurai" ) ,, Even if he was lonely he wouldn't take it seriously because he was selfless , meaning he only lived for his master . who wears white gloves, follows the hagakure, and wears and all black garb living in the slums of japan. this movie is so deep. its hard to find all the symbolism.
its crazy. i read rashomon and hagakure, this movie has the plot of rashomon because the story is told from multiple angels such as the scene with louie and he tells mr vargo how they meet and ghost dog shows it differently. rohsomon is just like that. along with all the symbolism of the ice cream man who is his friend, the little girl. another intersting tid bit is there is an old samurai movie from the legendary samurai war movie director kurosawa, where there is a rogue assaing samurai,
damn yo i cant believe i use to think timbo was dreddy freestylin' this will always be the beat of my dreams,i could invision me driftin in my own mind as i float through outerspace off this melody. deep thoughts, irecorded this shit and put it on a cd
also, if you have read rashomon, the stray female dog in Japanese culture is the omen of death, and when he runs into the dog again before assassinating MR. varggo, and he meets the dog eye to eye and walks off and looks at the moon, as it pans across the street, this is him learning the essence of the moment and that there is nothing left for him to see. thus, he knows because of his decision to wipe out the mafia he will die.
You probably totally have a point. I know that the bigger part of the movie was filmed in Jersey City but I could swear there are some spots that remind me of Brooklyn (Fort Green or Canarcy). The scene with the dude who's building his boat and what not ... Plus, BK is packed with Italian cats that raise messenger pigeons. But maybe I'm wrong. Respect :-)
Unfortunately, it's not on the soundtrack, at least the one that I have. I think Rae-Kwon has also his own version of "Ice Cream". The lyrics must be different though. Fuck, this is one the greatest movies of all time ! Hip-Hop, Brooklyn, Jarmusch, word !
