  • @rugersix Wow. These days, where I live, you can get a new Blackhawk convertible .357 or .45 Colt, for $449 plus tax.

  • Hello RugerSix!

Say, do you know WHY it is hard to get brand new .357/9mm Blackhawks now?

Also any idea why they did not make a S-Steel version?

I really would like to get the longer barrel version of this gun....NEW!

(Just so I can say that only *I* put all the rounds through it...haha!)

It looks to be a fun gun to shoot...AND you can shoot less expensive 9mm.

Thanks and don't forget a Christmas Special Video....haha!

    Take Care!

  • @OldDood WEll didn't know they were a problem to get??? No idea why no SS version either but that would be cool! They are lots of fun!

Christmas Special! LOL I'll see what I can do it's been real busy for me as of late! =)

  • @rugersix

Thanks for the speedy reply. BTW: Bill's site is no more. It says it was closed.

Maybe you know this but, I thought I would pass that on.

Too bad you could not take your Alaskan to Israel to that range....hehe!

That would of woke a few people up there eh?

  • Are there any problems with using the 9mm through the .357 barrel? 9mm is very slightly smaller in diameter...

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb Not at all! The 9mm cylinder has a ridge in it which allows the 9mm round to fit snug. Lots of fun! Thanks for watching!

  • @rugersix I actually meant the barrel, not the chambers. Sometimes if a barrel is too big for your bullet your round may tumble in the air, from my understanding. Maybe in this case the difference isn't big enough to matter.

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb Haven't noticed anything to serious other than accuracy is probably not the best...but for plinking its great fun!

  • Nice blackhawk. I was strictly a semi auto guy until I tried a Vaquero. Now I want one of these things. Offhand, other hand in pocket, shooting steel.. Something really fun about that.

  • @absolutsoju Thank You...I nmeed to get it out and shoot it some more! I also have the Ruger New Vaquero in a 45 Colt loads of fun! =) Thanks for watching!

  • Thank you Barak insane Obama for ammo being so hard to come by.

  • hey i just got a 357 mag ruger blackhawk and some one told me its fucked up from blowback? the gun seems to work good nothings wrong with it ..what is blowback and is it bad

  • @twistedjproductionz I have no idea what they are talking about???

    Blow-Back???

    On a single-action???

If it works then they don't know what they're talking about is what it sounds like to me?

  • @rugersix yea i got a video up of the gun from what i kno it all works

  • How do you like the Ruger .44 Alaskan? I was thinking of getting one, but I wasn't sure because I have herd mostly bad things about them. I have a Merlin .44 mag carbine that uses the same rounds.

  • @teh0theif I love it! Not sure where you heard that! It's AWESOME!

  • I might get a Blackhawk .44 soon,they look awesome

  • @FabioCrow07770 DUDE............They Are!!! =)

  • @rugersix Ya,I love the old west style of them

  • If all you have to worry about at your range is unruly kiddies, then I say you have it good. At least you don't have to deal with Range Trolls every time you shoot. Thanks for the video, RugerSix!

  • Unfortunately that's not the case we have lots of those too!! As a matter of fact they are the reason I failed to renew my membership this year! =()

  • @rugersix Sorry to hear...er...read that! I hope you still have a place to shoot.

  • Thanks! Oh you are close...I'm LEFT handed and shoot RIGHT handed! lol =]

    And YES,,,Left Eye dominant!!!

    Thanks for watching!

  • "I don't care, it's fun!"

Dude -- that says it all!! Home defense, yes. Its our right, yes. Defense of loved ones, and even strangers, yes. But in the end, THAT is what this is all about. It just feels good, and makes you feel alive and free !!!

  • Thanks!!!!

    Loved your comment!!!!

    Appreciate you watching!

  • Wow, guess I should have watched the whole video first...I guess you have your own vaquero!

  • LOL...yeah got both and like them both so it would be hard to choose between the two! =O Thanks for watching!

  • If you have ever had a chance to play with a Vaquero, what would you say is your preference vs the Blackhawk?

  • very nice gun there. I was always a big fan of the blackhawks. I got to shoot a super blackhawk in .44 magnum the other month and man was that a riot. You can really split hairs with that thing.

  • Coo! My first experience shooting a Blackhawk was a 44 mag! =]

  • Pretty awesome! I have the Blackhawk convertible in .45.

  • Nice!!!!!!!

  • I had no idea that you could get a 9mm cylinder for the Blackhawk. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Love your vids.

  • Yes! They still sell the Blackhawk Convertible in 357mag/9mm!!!

    I think it's great!

  • The Blackhawk is my favorite single-action revolver! I especially love the original "Flat-top" .44 magnum versions from the mid-1950s, it would be a real treat to own one of those!

Anyway, excellent review, as always! Keep up the good work! Hehe, by the way, at the end of this video, I never thought of playing Russian roulette the "safe" way! XD

  • Yeah...it's a beauty!

    Hmm...."Flat-Top" now your talk'n!

    Thanks friend!!! =]

  • That's a cool gun. I've got a Ruger Blackhawk .45 convertible and it is sweet! I'd love to have a 357 / 38 like yours. BTW I love the fact that there is no warning on the barrel of your gun. That really bugs me on my blackhawk.

  • Nice....the 45 convert. cool!!!! =]

Yeah got lucky on that being it's a 1975!

Not sure when they started that warning on the barrel "BS"

    Thanks for watching~

  • That reminds me I've got a Blackhawk somewhere in the dark recesses of my safe!

I'd almost forgotten about it and I haven't had it out shooting in years.

    It's a .41 magnum.

    Great video!

  • Time to get that flashlight out and shed some light on it!!!!!!! LOL =]

I shot one of these in .41 magnum before pretty sweet!!! =D

    Thanks!!!!!

  • MY RUGER REVOLVER SAYS " Go ahead try to break me I bet you can't"

    Havent been able too yet.

  • LOL...

    You now ya need TNT to break into a bank vault!!!! =}

  • I would prefer the Colt SAA, but at four figures, the Ruger Blackhawk/Vaquero series is not a bad way to go at all. Really nice acquisition there!

  • Nice revolver right there!

  • It sure is!

    Thanks for watching!

  • Amen!!!! "...but I don't care, it's fun!"

  • LOL!!! =]

    It sure was!

  • It must be strange to fire a 9mm round out of a revolver.....

  • Yeah it was!

    But...it was FUN!!!! =]

  • Nice video- takes me back to the late 70's when I had a .41 mag Blackhawk that I bought to shoot metallic silhouette.. I only shot 1 box of shells before I sold it to go back to college.

  • Thanks! I have shot a Blackhawk in the past that was chambered in .41 magnum...nice cartridge! Hard to find these days!!! =]

  • As I recall I bought that pistol from a guy who had buyer's remorse for $150- and sold it six months later whenI was offered $200.

  • Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!! =O

  • Yeah, but those were 1978 dollars...

  • nice i have been thinking about getting a blackhawk in .357mag

  • Yes NICE...they are indeed!

Glad I finally got one! =]

  • Is it me, or does it seem like shooting with the 9mm cylinder has more recoil than when you were using the cylinder for the 38 special?

BTW, I absolutely HATE when they have that warning sign (about reading owners manual) on the side of the gun. Just ruins it.

Another BTW, . . . . DANG, on the recoil of the of the Alaskan!

  • Not sure could have been the shooter! LOL =]

I dislike that warning as well it's just plain common sense!

The Alaskan!!!! Ha...actually to be honest the recoil was not as bad as I thought it would be...the tamer grips really help!

  • I've considererd an Alaskan. Quite tempting, but would probably go with a bit longer barrel to help soak up some of the recoil. But the Alaskan is rather formitable looking. :-)

As for my observation on the "9mm cylinder vs. the cylinder you shot the 38 special from", as the shooter, which seems to have more recoil?

I've been enjoying your series. Soon I will have my own youtube channel and may do some gun segments as well. Fun for the shooter AND the watcher!

  • I originally wanted a 4" barrel like the S&W 629, but was impressed with how the Alaskan fit in my hand. I would say it seemed the .38 was a bit more recoil.

Be ssure to let me know when you post your 1st vid! =]

  • great review :)

  • Thanks my friend!

  • Thanks so much for the shout out.You are too generous and a great guy. That Blackhawk looks great. I think you got a good buy..Your vids are the best on you tube. Thanks again.5*s.

  • Your Welcome Bill I greatly appreciate your channel support and consider you one of the nicest people on YouTube!

  • pretty sweet vid I like how you can change the cylinders out to shoot something less cheaper

  • Thats the beauty of it! =]

  • your having too much fun...my dog "ruger" sat on my lap and watched this vid with me....thats the truth.....but i still like small revolvers. easy shooting with one hand while the other hand is in the pocket lining up bullets for reloading. 5*****

  • Well I one handed this bad-boy! LOL

Hmm...yeah I like small revolver too...so you must like the Alaskan with the 2 1/2" barrel that's small isn't it??? LOL =]

    Thanks for watching!

  • that is super nice....

  • You said it all right there. "I don't care. It's fun!" My thoughts exactly!

  • I 've read a lot of forums on these convertible Blackhaws and they talk a lot about the in accuracy of the 9mm cylinder. It may or may not be true...I didn't adjust the sights either. Like I said...ITS FUN! =] Thanks!

  • pretty sweet

  • Agreed! =]

  • Awesome video has always.

  • Thank you as always...JP!

  • Monster revolver, beautiful bluing and the rosewood really set it off. Nice sing too!Another BlueRibbon video Harry, thanks. Larry

  • Thanks Larry the bluing is overall in pretty good shape minus the leading edges of course. Thanks for watching! =]

  • That is just a super 6, BUT A WHOLE LOT COOLER!

  • Thanks HI-CAP me too...I love the look of this revolver!

  • I agree 100%!! What a gorgeous piece!

  • nice....I have the blackhawk .357. Is yours with the safety transfer bar?

  • Yes this one does as they started adding those in 1973. I wish it was a srcews model without it though!

  • I love revolvers especially single action revolvers, but they feel uncomfortable in my hand for some reason. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy em though haha.

    Great Vid RugerSix 5*s.

  • Your right the grip frame is shorter in front and it tends to dig a pit into the palm. I agree with you, but Love them all the same! =]

  • btw 5 stars =)

  • I think $500 is a good deal 4 that gun!

    Five Stars!!

  • Thanks Voodooo!

    I feel better already! =]

  • Sweet....That is really cool that you can shoot 9mm in that gun. I'm wondering how the cylinder holds the rimless 9MM case? -Rod-

  • Me too!!! LOL =]

I found it just drops right in! On the inside of the cylinder half way down it has a ridge that keeps it in place.

    Thanks Rod!

  • Aha.... That had me stumped. Thanks -Rod-

  • man is it just me or does that gun look massive?

  • Yeah it's beefy looking! =]

  • Ruger Six got another Ruger Six! Congrats man, my buddy had one of these too, great single action option. That 9mm cylinder is a nice accessory too. I probably don't have to tell you, but be careful not to drop it loaded, or it might go bang!

  • Thanks!

    That makes 3-Six-Shooters

    For RugerSix by

    Ruger! LOL =]

This one has the transfer bar! Ruger added those after 1972.

  • VERY COOL, nice vid. Love the gun.

  • Yes! It's great to finally add a Ruger Blackhawk to my collection!

    Thanks for watching!

  • how much did it set u back cuz i wanted to get either this or a DA smith

  • 9mm conversion cylinder... NICE

  • Yeah...pretty cool!!!!

  • Awesome!

Think the good thing about that gun is that you can shoot all 9x19s... (FMJ, Hydrashock, JHP, JSP, SJHP, etc).

Ahw... I thought it was a GP100 on your holster... lol...

    Peace.

    Dave.

  • Along with that you can shoot .38 specials as well! LOL-It's a bit more than a GP-100...but there's another nice Ruger Product!

  • Great vid R6 you do good work! Congrats on your acquisitions! One of these days we're gonna have to have a shoot out!

  • Thanks MZ!

    We need to do that!

  • Nice vid. A Ruger Blackhawk (1976 though) was the first center fire pistol I ever fired. It still belongs to my Dad. Thank you for stirring my remembrance of that model. It will now be coming out of the safe for the next trip to the range.

  • Right on! Sounds like it will be a fun and relaxing shoot!

    Thanks lambdog!

  • Looks like a beauty!

  • IT IS! =D

  • Sweet pistol you have there. and the one in the holster is sweet also.

  • Thanks...I'm rather fond of both of them! =]
