  • stringer is in the middle.smarter then the average drug dealer, not enough brain power to mess with guys in suits.

  • Slim was smarter than Stringer.

  • Yet another great fucking scene. Avon is that nigga.

  • I love this scene. In all his pursuits, ambition & desire to go legit, Stringer realized he was a victim of the Ameraican caste system, as well as a common street thug & mope..LOL. Stringer died being exacty what he tried so hard to away from...a drug dealer. The "away games" comment was epic...Stringer was way out of his league...

  • "what I tell you bout playin them fuckin away games?"

    Great line.

  • although he's lawyer scum, levy is a great character. they just had great characters on this show. prop joe, omar. slim. marlo. bunk. fucking brilliant. this show is fucking amazing.

  • Clay Davis is Baltimore's ultimate gangster, he's untouchable

  • Stringer would've made a great lobbyist in washington

  • Stringer would've made a great lobbyist in washington

  • Clay is Don king.

  • I was hoping Stringer would go through with the hit on Davis.

  • Slim knew his limit. Chris Parlow wouldn't have cared.

  • its funny how levys description of 'rainmaking' at 2:29 is pretty much a description of religion and going to church.

  • @atc5656 lol true

  • 4:03 Slim says "He'll be along shortly."

    He sounded like a secretary...lolol

  • sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit

  • I like the subtlety of how they showed stringer slowly losing control in series 3

  • @ICantstopthetrain And the subtlety of Avon and Stringer's relationship crumbling

  • Its alot Stringer didn't know abt the game: asking Brother Mouzone who shot him, tryna take the cash Orlando got from the Feds, giving the green light for gunplay on the Sunday truce..and each time he had to recieve a stern lecture from Avon and then he got screwed outta 250k by the suits,Hence Avon's line "i see a man w/o a country"..funny how Stringer asked Bodie was he built for this game n season 1 when they killed Wallace

  • I don't think it was a big deal that Stringer got tricked. When you are getting into a whole new game for the 1st timethere's bound to be a few mistakes along the way. You just gotta surround yourself with the type of people who will at least get you schooled on the game, is all.

If String was able to stay alive he would've conquered Baltimore's Contruction scene and get out of the drug business permanently. Pity that the drug business caught up with him...

  • @willia3r Stringer wouldn't see it that way since he's from a place where something like Clay Davis did is handled the way he was going to until Avon stopped him. It's another example of how Stringer doesn't see the game the same way Avon does. Avon understands it to the point that he knows this wouldn't work the same way anywhere else. Game recognizes game, Avon is a street gangster, Levy's a legal gangster and they both understood Davis, a political gangster, and his actions.

  • @Gootothesecond but levy was in on the scam too

  • @Gootothesecond Pretty sharp

  • "What I tell you bout playing away games" lolololol.. classic.

  • @lafemmenakia2 I applaud Stringer for trying to think out the box and switch it up from the shoot em up lifestyle. That dont last forever.

  • I like Slim's voice

  • what's fucked up is that shit like this happens in every major city. everyone has their hand in someone's pocket.

  • LMAO...how Stringer gone be bigger than the bodyguards...i always get a kick at how he looks down at dude...like really...

  • @rnsoles34 stringer dont have a pistol on him...lil dude does!

  • Day of the Jackal type motherfucker to do some shit like that

  • this should be a lesson to us all...no matter how good a business deal sounds...ALWAYS have a lawyer....thats why people got ponzi schemed and thats why musicians get robbed of their propper royalties

  • "you need a day of the jack type mufucka to do some shit like that."

    hahahaha

  • ayo stringer tha one the 1 person that disliked this video

  • murder aint no thing... but this here is some assassination shit

  • 1:36

  • stringer is crazy killing a state senator

  • Michael Kostroff should play the penguin if he is in the batman movie

  • @GoatseObama He could nail Cobblepot easily!

  • "Nigga, I gotta remind you who the fuck you work for?!"

Avon pops up and must've been thinking, "Naw, nigga... let me remind YOU who the fuck you working for."

  • @danielhiryu they were partners..brothers...co-owners

  • @ozzyunoe I saw it more like Bell was a second in command who, at first, was seen as Avon's brother. As the situation devolved, he was more like an advisor (who was listened to less and less).

  • I love this scene because we see the difference between a hustler man from the street and a hustler businessman, Levy is great in this video, he laughs openly about the stupidity of String, String wanted to go it alone, he was not so good as he thought

  • @ermite92 that was a good take

  • @ermite92

"Levy is great in this video, he laughs openly about the stupidity of String"

forreal... the hustler business man is real gangsta with it.. I dont think anybody except for Avon can laugh in stringers face like that... the acting is real good cuz you could see the embarrassment all over stringers face when levy belted out laughing like that....

  • Comment removed

  • Clay Davis lol. People vote for Clay Davis in this country. The Wire is NOT a tv show.

  • murder ain't no thang

  • Stringer Bell disliked this video before he died

  • Political hustlers do games like this all the time.

The silver tongue is way more powerful that the sharpest mental acumen.

Clay could talk a rape victim out of her panties and a blind man out of his cane.

That community college degree (did he finish?) didn't hold a candle to years of maneuvering around the bureaucracy and getting reelected numerous times.

    It's the gift of gab.

"There are no bribes!" I think there are... but good luck proving it.

    Clay Davis... SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!

  • I like that this scene makes it obvious that Levy is on a higher game than everyone, to be able to laugh in Stringer's face that way.

  • @aleksandur Very good point.

He's not some low level street dealer or some detective struggling to make a case.

    He's a lawyer... THE lawyer.

  • What I tell you about playing those away games?!

  • lol...this scene pretty much goes to all those...."hey if i was a drug dealer i would've invested my money in...this that and the other"...smh...they know what's up and you ain't fooling nobody...they'll rip you off faster cause they know the rules and you can't do nothin cause your money is illegal...the wire is the best cause there is no way out..once you play the game it's either death or jail..avon understood that

  • Yee, they saw your ghetto ass comin from MILES away, nigga

  • Like Avon said that shit on you Stringer got in over his head and well he got played like a volin.

  • @jhbmc1 fiddler style

  • So Stringer goes to some community college and takes a class in economics and all of a sudden he thinks he knows all the intricacies of business outside of buying and selling dope at corners. If he wanted to have any success with legit business he should have had Levy with him on every occasion to guide him. Levy was a dirty motherfucker but he always was his moneys worth when it came to any advice.

  • WTF? Levy was there when Clay proposed the real estate deal to String and Avon. Then he's SURPRISED when String has been punk'd? Did Levy know Clay was scamming him from the beginning?

  • @AnotherMasterMind

thats a good question and its all speculation but I would like to believe levy is surprised stringer would go do far with out consulting his lawyer first..

  • @AnotherMasterMind

i think levy worked something lke the same deal with marlo at the end

  • Avon is that dude. He spit the truth with that "away game" line. Stick to what you're good at.

  • i wonder y he didnt run it through levy in the first place

  • It's funny 2 see how many times Avon has to check Stringer for something he done the wrong way..this scene and the scene where he went to visit Avon while he was locked up and told Avon how he asked Brother Mouzone who shot him and Avon got pissed and he tried to throw that business bullshit in

  • They saw yo ghetto ass coming from miles away nigga!!!

  • "murder ain't no thing, but this is some assassination shit, man." i love slim.

  • Comment removed

  • The really jacked up subliminal in this scene is that people who front tough and bad, but are really not for the street game, will run to the cops as soon as shit gets too thick for them. This is what Stringer did when leaves the room at the end. Ask the white girl and boy in your city who is talking all street and stuff, why were they recently in court talking proper and telling everybody's business. THE GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. GET OUT ALIVE IF YOU CAN.

  • stringer bell was smart at first but later in the series he made some bad decisions.

  • Stringer Bell was also in college...this scene also shows that a lot of traditionally educated people lack common sense...Any responsible cat would know that a hood gangster won't be able to kill a state senator and not be caught relatively quick. You think Steve Jobs at one point probably wanted Bill Gates murked, but knew Gates had too much money and power and the world would take notice

  • 5:03 Day of the Jackal reference best line in the whole series imo

  • @kaviraj I agree classic line

  • ''Come on Mr. Bodyguard''

  • "I just wished you ran it by me sooner." TRUTH.

  • Anyone who wants an example of the type of Lawyer OJ had for his trial, look to Levy. Crocked, coniving but very smart and intelligent, willing to expose all the loopholes that exist in Law.

  • they saw your ghetto ass comin miles away nigga

  • ''what i tell you about playing those away games?"

    LOL!!!!!

  • The Greek, Clay Davis, and Levy were the real gangsters in "The Wire"

  • @Greeneyez2475 come on man ,stringer was gangsta as dracula......

  • @Greeneyez2475

    for real

  • @Greeneyez2475 fuck the greek

  • @Greeneyez2475 The three were the truth

  • @Greeneyez2475 lol so true.

  • @ 2:21, fukkin priceless !!!!!!!!!!!! Stringer realizes that Clay Davis done stuck 12 inches in him...wit no lube !!!! lmao

  • Clay Davis wuz the biggest gangsta on The Wire

  • Levy's the man! He's one of my favorite characters in the show.

  • GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME

  • god damn. i wouldnt mind havin two big ass thug motherfuckas follow me around n knock whose ever head i said. fuckin stringer man.

  • @finarrykahn13 but he doesn't know them. Tall man hired new muscle.

  • Levy has the most disgusting laugh.

  • You dont realise how big string really is compared to other people.

  • Poor String, not gangster enough for the game and not businessman enough for legit. Man should have left the game when Avon got out.

  • Funny how Stringer is wearing a suit! "NAH U A FUCKING BUSINESSMAN U WANNA HANDLE IT LIKE THAT!"

  • The scene where Stringer sits down after having it all explained to him... you could cut through that anger with a knife.

  • Even if that Attorney's a stone's throw away from permenant dis-barrment?

A dinged up record of sustained complaints with the State Bar Assoc.?

Lost lawsuits in court and he's rep'in him-self?

    Pick your attorney's prudently grass-hopper...

If someone wants your mind, be mindfull of your wants.

  • That's why is pays to have a jew lawyer

  • THE CLAY DAVIS....... DOWNTOWN CLAY DAVIS.......

  • @skywalker0l

That's suppose to mean something to me man?

That nigger need to be got.

  • What I tell you about playin them fuckin away games?

You gotta fuckin beef wit dem....dat-shit-is-on-..YOU!

    priceless..

  • The creators of the wire should make a prequel to the series. It should should Avon and Stringer Bell comming taking over the west side.

  • @Rayman77792 Avon had it passed down to him in the Barksdale crime family its mentioned several times the problem with prequels is the actors have aged soo much its hard for them to play young version of themselves and if you bring in new actors it wont feel the same

  • @Rayman77792 No just like the Illiad, theres a lot of benefits having it begin in media res.

  • Stringer was pretty dumb to want to hit Senator Davis. Worse he stole his money, but he should have been smart enough to see that you just cant give a politician money thinking it'll work for him. Not easy.

  • You know, in all seriousness Slim Charles assassinating Clay Davis probably would have done a world of good for Bmore, because Clay Davis is corrupt and only cares about himself. Clay Davis is only interested in stuffing his pockets with greenbacks. He doesn't give two shits about the people of Baltimore, and I personally would have loved to seen him get his comeuppance.

  • @lildwayne21

yeah but stringer would be sending slim to his death... even if he could do it which i highly doubt... he wouldnt make it 2 blocks...

  • "f*&$king away games"?

  • @kandinskyforfootball

Away games: Avon was telling Stringer that he is a drug dealer, not a real estate developer...which is why he got played.

  • @yuseffhilton I think really what Avon was saying is you can't be an effective drug dealer if you're dabbling in this other stuff on the side. Pick one or the other, you can't do both.

  • the best part about the whole clay davis thing is that if you watch a few scenes, clay clearly gives stringer chances to not give him money, but string does it anyway,

  • Damn, I really need to start watching this series.

  • The Akon song in the background foreshadows Avon's sentencing at the season 3 finale.

  • Stringer, not smart enough for dealing with suits and when it came down to the street he showed little understanding of the game. Dangelo, Omar and Brother Mouzone. The three decisions he made, snatching a life that didn't needed to be. Attempting to play Omar as a fool and ignoring the Sunday morning ceasefire. Wanting Brother Mouzone killed and destroying Avon's name in New York.

  • 2:30, classic face lol

  • Can you imagine what Tony Soprano would have said if Chrissy wanted to whack a senator? He would have said the same thing as Avon, only he would have said it with his hands around Chrissie's throat.

  • @WiseGuy5674 You know, back in the day when Thomas E. Dewey was taking down the mob, Dutch Schultz wanted to kill him. Dewey was a federal special prosecutor. Considered untouchable, for obvious reasons.

So Dutch goes to the Commission and asks Luciano and the rest, and they said no, obviously. But Dutch had a temper, you see. And he didn't listen. And he went ahead with his plan to kill this guy.

Which is why Dutch got whacked in the Palace Chop House in Newark.

    That's a true story.

  • @WiseGuy5674 They're different relationships. Tony and Chris is more father son so Tony was always dominant in that one. Avon/String was best friends/partnership so even though Avon was top dog they were on more even footing and Avon wouldn't do something like that.

  • "Clay Davis? That ganef was BORN with his hand in someone's pocket."

  • Stringer was the MF's man. For real.

  • Clay Davis stuck 12 inches in Stringer's azz.

  • If you watch in season 5 in the 2nd to last episode Clay Davis explains that he was deliberately keeping Levy out of the loop so that he could steal as much of Stringer's money as possible. Levy wasn't in on it and he was actually a little angry that it happened.

  • One of my favrrit scenes in the series.

  • always have a lwayer before signing stuff....ALWAYS

  • "SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!"

  • "They saw your ghetto ass coming from miles away nigga!!!"

    That sounded so black.

  • I love the word "finna."

  • It must have taken everything Levy had inside him not to bust out laughing at Stringer. As long as stringer was staying knee deep in the drug game, no politician was gonna actually do him a favor cause they don't want that shit coming back on them during election time. If you're a crook want a favor from a more powerful crook( politician), you better be doing something positive. That's why the old school gangsters used to hand out turkeys during Thanksgiving and toys during Christmas.

  • "You need a day of the jackal type of motherfucka basically to do some shit like that...not a rumble tumble nigga like slim." In my opinion the dialogue alone was 90% of what made this show great.

  • "Come on Mr. Bodyguard". LMAO!!!

  • Why didn't Clay davis just say no?

  • @kandinskyforfootball Because Clay Davis is a sadistic character who derives pleasure from playing people and off other people's misfortunes.

  • man, levy is a slimy bastard, but he is a great character

  • @atom786 He makes Breaking Bad's Saul Goodman look like a Disney character.

  • What would've happened if Avon was in prison at that moment?

  • Serves him right, ghetto fool! Why didn't he run by levy like he always does?

  • i found it interesting that of the $250,000 that clay davis got from stringer, he paid back around $35k, and then later has to pay his lawyer billy murphy $200,000 to get out from the charges against him

so he really ended up making nothing off of stringer bell-who if he had still been alive-having already been arrested, might be testifying against clay

  • why would you do bussiness without your lawyer? he ended up loosing a lot more..

  • "they saw ya ghetto ass from miles away nigga!"....avon keep it real

  • Why didn't Bell use Bother Mouzone to get Davis?

  • @misterrightuk Bell burned his bridge with Mouzone when he turned Omar on him.

  • stringer a snakey motherfucker, im glad he got punk'd

  • It would have been interesting to see how the plot would have gone if they did assasinate clay davis

  • haha i like the end avon lays it down on string he fucked up, his problem

  • Comment removed

  • " and clay davis? that guy was just born with his hand in somebody's pocket.".....levy looked like he admired the way stringer got played by davis.

  • 2:25

    can't stop watching it.

The street game realize he has been played by a bigger game. This scene is brilliant, Levy is even more twisted then the rest of the gangbangers

  • the oddest part about stringer getting played is that at avon's coming home party levy was there when clay davis and the developer guy were feeding avon shit about investing his money. you'd think that levy would have said something to avon about it and maybe avon would mention it to stringer afterwards

  • especially odd at 5:08 when avon says 'I seen it comin'

  • "Levy was in on it too. That's how he knew it was Clay who Stringer was giving money to"

    ---> Yeah

  • Levy knew Stringer was paying specifically for Clay before Stringer could even open his mouth.

  • The best part is that Levy is the one making the real money. The worse the streets get the more money Levy makes

  • Comment removed

  • @jpom29: Slim Charles sounded as if he was a lil irritated with String when he asked him "what you need". I'm guessing that Slim Charles didn't like the fact that he had all that new hired muslce protecting String.

  • LOL at Levy laughing right at Stringer's face

  • Stinger got owned by Davis..lol

  • Stringer wanna use violence to kill a law maker, but he didn't want Avon to fight over the corner. He didn't have no one in the Barksdale Crew with him in any of the property meeting but he wanna use his best killer to fuck up his life by killing a law maker. But the funny part was the dude who didn't know Stringer and was trying to keep him from coming in. Glad it was just Stringer cause he wasn't much of a bodygaurd him still got pass him. And he didn't leave until Slim told him.

  • Far as Avon goes, that's what a boss need to do. Check his ass and let him know it on him and let him deal with it without the crew. He kept the crew out of it, so Avon was right to treat Stringer ass the way he did.

    Best qoutes by Avon

1st. " u need a day of the jackle type nigga"

2nd. "wat I tell u playin dem away game"

3rd. "dey saw yo geto ass comin"

    Everything was true Avon said.

  • Levy was in on it too. That's how he knew it was Clay who Stringer was giving money to. Because at Avon homecoming party they were all sitting and talking to Avon about what Stringer had did with the property. But Avon wasn't going for it. And in season 5, Clay Davis tell Freeman the lawyers would let you get a taste but they won't let you run wild. Pretty much letting you know Levy would have let Clay hit Stringer's pocket for a cut of the take.

  • Man, Stringer handled this whole situation terribly. Planning to assassiate a state senator. He was going to have a state senator got because Clay Davis swindled him. Where was his judiciousness? Where was his code of ethics? Where were all those business skills he picked up? What happened to I'm through with this gangsta bullshit? Thank God Avon talked Stringer out of that shit. What was the fuck was in Stringer's head?

  • im surprised clay davis didnt get murdered

  • Clay Davis played him like a fiddled and Stringer should have talk to his lawyer about Clay. Lawyer should have been Avon's number two LMAO

  • What I tell you about playing those away games??? LOLOLOLOL

  • With the exception of Slim Charles, Shamrock was probably either the third or forth most important player in the Barksdale organization.

  • Lol @ the new guy making Stringer Wait.

  • Stringer got schooled.

  • and avon got played by marlo in this season and got blasted. yall give him too much credit

  • Marlo didn't shoot Avon or blast him. What the hell are you talking about?

  • chris blasted avon. thats what the hell im talkin about. like string said. he's over there playin soldier.

  • Oh, OK. You first said that Marlo did it, so I misunderstood you.

  • Chris shot Avon, not Marlo.

  • why does everyone act like stringer is the only one who made mistakes. if you've watched the first season you would know that avon is the one that made the mistake that got him and d'angelo jailed

  • clay davies shiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttt

  • <
