This year is the 200th anniversary of the start to the War of 1812. Many Americans too this day still attempt to try and re-write history to say they won the war. With couragous efforts like Ms.Laura Secord we enjoy the Country that we live in today. The war of 1812 gave Canada its first sence of identity and a mutual respect grew accross the land for one another. As Canadians this year I employ all of us to commemorate this victory and stand proud as the true north strong and FREE!
I've read that Fitzgibbon already knew of the plan. That does not take away, though, from Laura Secord's amazing effort. But if what I've read is correct, how could he have already known about it if the plan had just been hatched at Laura's?
Great great patriot and her story should be told. She walked about 30km and climbed the Niagara Escarpement. The British officers were reluctant to believe her story, luckily they did. Thanks to the chocolate company naming their business after her so her name is seen everywhere across this country. The Maple Leaf forever!
Laura secord is my Ann sister well on my dads side Wich I'm proud of that I went to her house for my sisters project it's sooo cool I tought it was haunted tho O_O
@SwozyGustafsson Stephen McHattie(as listed in the cast at the Heritage Minute website), where I remember him from is Beverly Hills Cop 3. He played a FBI agent.
@SwozyGustafsson Stephen McHattie born in Nova Scotia played in deep space nine , a history of violence , 300 and a lot more go to wikipedia for more.
@onbeyondzebrabydrs: I don't know if she actually passed out, but otherwise, yes, she heard about the American plans, came across a native village on her way to warn the British, and they led her the rest of the way. As a result, the British forces handily won the Battle of Beaver Dams.
@MissHazara08: Not an actual movie, no. The Heritage Minute films (also known as Historica Minutes) were designed to be brief stories of key people/events from Canada's past, and they aired during commercial breaks. But I agree, it sure looks like this footage could have been part of a much longer movie.
@SwozyGustafsson If it had have been the other way around, and she was an American heroin, than there would be a lot of movies about her. What is really funny, if you go on the online encyclopaedias by Americans, it is watered down so much.

so the real story is basicly (I'm doing a project on it) she heard the plans and ran to tell him but she passed out and natives took her there?

@AllstarCanadian: You raise a good point -- I don't think I've even heard of a movie about Laura Secord's life, or her role in the War of 1812.
