Back then, BJ's version had been played to death. When this came out, we were all into this sort of sound and liked it for it's "campieness", not as a classic rock & roll song. Besides the "ogachaka" was really catchy!! Great memories there!!!
I'm sure you're not. Me though I think B.J Thomas just did the song wrong, and not very good at that. But that's opinions for you. To me this is decidedly more interesting.
@PsychoticSikHypnotic I'm with you. It's like they took the finest slice of prime rib & somehow warped & twisted it into the most unappetizing dish of manure they could get.
@infernokid1990 I was listening to the radio once and the guy said "Hooked on a Feeling". I was like sweeet, I love this song. And then this crap came on. I wish I could've seen the expression on my face.
THE SWEDISH BLUE, were a sensation in the seventies and is heard throughout Venezuela, AND THERE ARE CURRENTLY IN VENEZUELA radio puts THAT THOSE YEARS. MUSIC DOES CULTURE
Someplace, there's a video of the band all dressed in Elvis jumpsuits & capes. Maybe on Bandstand performance. I think i saw it on one of those Oldeis compilation infomercials. Or maybe Midnight special. That,!!!! was Music By George...
My fiance sings this to me constantly. He does an awesome ooga chaka!

I love B.J. Thomsas' version and this version. Neither is better than the other to me, both bring back great memories.
