  • This commercial is scientifically incorrect. A firearm is not a living being, thus it cannot be killed. It can be deactivated, destroyed, disposed of; but not killed.

  • This is some pretty stupid shit. Taking guns away from law abiding citizens merely makes it easier for criminals and tyrants to overpower them. Because criminals and tyrants aren't going to care about laws.

According to The International Crime Victims Survey, conducted by Leiden University in Holland, the US doesn't even make the top ten list "of industrialized nations whose citizens were victimized by crime." Our gun murder rate is high yes but overall violent crime is lower here than in Australia, England, Wales, Sweden, Holland and Canada. What say you now faced with the facts? Taking the tools away doesn't change the heart of man.

If the murder rate in country A is 50 and is 200 in country B and country A's murder rate jumps to 150 after their gun ban and an anti gun biggot uses country A as an example against country B to support his idiotic opinion that guns should be banned then said antigun biggot is a douchbag.

  • The pro-gun people just can't argue against this fact: countries with stricter gun control laws (most of western Europe) have lower crime rates than countries with liberal gun laws (United States). Why is that I wonder?

  • Why not also ban something like martial arts? It's also something that is specifically designed to do harm, yet everyone only seems to think of it as a self-defense solution.

    what would people kill with if there were no guns? anything else they could find.

    the root of the problem isn't gun control, it's people's state of minds developed by their environment fabricated by those in power who feel it's appropriate for them to live lavishly while the majority is in poverty.

  • @100eyes a gun is cowardly. No education is needed to operate a firearm. At least with martial arts you have to be educated in it for you to use it. A lot of the time you need years to learn to use it properly or with any effectiveness.

    Guns aren't necessary in this world, especially for civilians.

    as the internet gave every person in the world a voice, the gun gave every person in the world a chance to defend themselves. if we had no gadgets or tools to speak of, the world would just be run by the strongest group of barbarians.

    Contrary to what your pal Charlton Heston thinks, there is no real reason for a civilian to have a gun. The only reason is to protect yourself from OTHER guns. A lot of people have lived they're entire life without touching a firearm and a lot of people have had there life taken because of a firearm.

    This argument is futile as it has being going on forever.

  • @towned simple, guns make it easier to take a life. however, what people like you fail to realize in your 'number of deaths by firearms' is just how many of those are for the sake of your freedom, or rather your false sense of security.

    the only reason for a gun is to protect from other guns? that's a ridiculous thing to say. a criminal can use anything from a knife to a baseball bat to a car, and sometimes people are attacked by wild animals and need to defend themselves and their family.

  • @towned You just stated a lot of people have never touched a gun and a lot of died by a gun. Would those people who never had a gun to fight back with have all died if they were armed? Would all those people who accidentally hurt themselves or those around them still have done so if they were taught proper gun handling techniques beforehand instead of handling one out of curiosity?

    the safest method to keeping a gun isn't locking it away, it's teaching those around the proper way to handle it.

  • @towned if you don't have the confidence to trust yourself with a firearm, that's fine. just don't expect everyone else to share your opinion, because not everyone is comfortable with calling another stranger over with a gun when in danger, rather than having your own.

    this argument is futile because people like you refuse to accept the rights given to you. when people fight for gun laws, they aren't fighting for their own, they're fighting for YOURS.

Just give me one, legitimate, real reason for a civilian to own a gun, just one...

    It's sad you don't have the confidence to trust the authorities who are in place to protect and even sadder that you need a gun to feel safe.

    the safety of myself and those around me is the only reason I ever need. some ask why I always have some sort of a first aid kit. same reason.

    ignorant people like you who aren't prepared for anything and just walk through life as if there will always be someone who'll always take care of you. if you're lucky, someone like me will be around when you're in need of help. if you're smart, you'd become a person whom others can depend on.

    Again you have failed to give me 1 legitimate reason to own a gun. It's one thing to have a first aid kit and another to have a gun. The two aren't even close.

    Don't feed me this BS about owning a gun so people can depend on you in the off chance a situation ever occurs where you might need one, chances are you'd cave in that situation because you don't have guts in the first place to deal with it, so you go out and get a gun to compensate.

    That's an entirely separate issue.

    The sole purpose of a gun is to kill or wound — that's why a "kill the gun" campaign makes sense, but a "kill the car" campaign would not (your original point, to which I was responding).

    I've been around guns for well over 30 years of my life. . and except when I go hunting. . they have never been used to kill. . In fact, their 'sole express purpose' is now for Biathlon and Match events.

    So your. . .theory. . .holds no water. And as you see. . can be turned around on you using the fact that while many items who's 'sole express purpose' may not be to kill. . .are in fact used to kill.
