They created transistor radio batteries and dry cells and never gave them a alphabet letter. the transistor could be labeled the "B" and the dry cell the "E". But I gotta love the "A" battery bit. Wouldn't be nice if you could walk into a supermarket and go Soparno on the cleck by asking for a fucking "A" battery?

Yes there are currently or used to be A,B,F,N,J batteries.
Those B batteries were for supplying power to vacuum tubes.
They ranged from 45-90volts.Car battery is just 12. Wow!!
