@JoeWegesa Yeah was aware of that. But it's obvious that Zoe and Basil got their inspiration from Holst to write this piece. Still a mganificent piece though.
My mother lost one of her legs due to arterial blockage. She was a great dancer back in the day. Though they are both gone, i picture Mom and Dad dancing in a ballroom to this.
besides an orgy this reminds me of a great ball. where the commoners are begging outside and picking up what scraps remain of the banquet, While the rich dance, eat, and smoke the day away. I say day cause this feast has been going for days as it should be in this time
What about Lord of the Rings and Thor? they were comebacks of sword and sorcery movies. Thor reminded me alot of 80's fantasy flicks like Conan, Clash of the Titans, Excalibur, Willow, Dark Crystal, Heavy Metal, Fire and Ice etc. and felt like a throwback. Now Lord of the Rings was an epic trilogy of the fantasy genre!
In Conan the Destroyer, this same tune is used, but it is a little different. Does anyone know if there is audio anywhere of "The Orgy" as used in Conan the Destroyer? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
i really dont know what the new conan is going to be like. i've seen the actor and i really dont know. as far as the origionals go "the barbarian" was better than "the destroyer" destroyer just seemed extra campy. and the thief guy made no sense. where was the guy from the first one?
@memberjacket yea ive always pretty much said the same thing about destroyer but im almost 100 percent sure this new ones gonna be way too hollywood and over the top and just kinda lame in general
Heath was a great Joker, but I am partial to Nicholson's. I will give credit where credit is due. I do prefer Tim Burton's Batman movies to Chris Nolan's but I still enjoy Nolan's version. Bale just doesn't do it for me as Batman, however.
Anyone seen Thor yet? a very retro style fantasy epic that has the feel of the 80's sword and sorcery epics like this movie, Willow, Ladyhawke, Excalibur, Dark Crystal, Krull, Highlander, Heavy Metal and more. Should satisfy any fantasy fan.
im very scared about it , if conan the barbarian would meet with this matrix-like cgi-stuff, in animated backgrounds with quadroople-360-flipflop-loopings in his fighting style, doing his kamehamehas and firing shoulderrockets and all that in slowmotion and a hardrocksong smashing
we all know hollywood would dare to do stuff like this
they should just do their new films, or long video spots, or however they wanna call it, but should let the real movies alone
Have you read the books by Robert Howards on Conan's adventures and the comics? this is a re-adaptation of that novel and those comics. What do you think of modern fantasy epics like Lord of the Rings, Thor, Stardust and even 300?
@Johnlindsey289 i read three or four of em, but i think i was twelve, conan seemed a bit faster and cleverer to me, than arnold is playing him
lotr isnt a bad movie too, but i hate those cgi-formed landscapes, the world is beautiful, use it, we even got hobbits for real (ever seen willow?) why do they have to take hollywood-beauties and shrink em with cgi?
and 300.... remember what i wrote to "slowmotion and a hardrocksong smashing"?
i didnt have the chance to check out those other movies
Thor is an excellent retro style sword and sorcery epic that combines Willow, Excalibur Conan and Superman The Movie in one movie and is a throwback to those days of fantasy adventure cinema in the 80's, a must see if you enjoy fantasy movies.
But do you think LOTR is as good as Willow or Conan?
@Johnlindsey289 to me conan the barbarian is the better movie, because of the real landscapes, real animals, real buildings, for the handwork, for the trained swordfights(i dont have the words for it, english isnt my native language)
but lotr carried by a really great story, some really good effects and overall its very "moody", peter jacksons masterwork
its a question of taste, but i like the 80´s movies like ladyhawke, willow, conan etc more than the new stuff
at least LOTR was better than the animated adaptations and were true to Tolkein's vision. Do you also like Krull, The Dark Crystal, Heavy Metal, Fire and Ice, Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Star Warriors originally in your country), Big Trouble in Little China, Excalibur and more? other 80's fantasy masterpieces. i recommend Princess Mononoke which is an awesome adult animated fantasy sword and sorcery epic
@AntiFaithNY Agree, this is one movie they should try remaking, it's a legendary actor, with legendary character, and legendary story. No way in hell the new Conan will have any fucking success, the only thing it will succeed in, is being a big fucking flop!
I have played the entire Conan Basil Poledouris soundtrack hundreds and hundreds of times over the years while working out. There's just something special about a lot of the symphony tracks to a lot of sword and sandal movies, I'd much rather lift weights to this type of music than some Eye Of The Tiger bullshit.
at any rate, message me an email, im done spamming this comment board all just because you're mad over me using a word. and smoke some pot or something, you pratically raged over nothing... pot helps for that dude
using a word like "moron" is overrated, simpleton isn't as harsh, it just implies someone you speak of is "simple" either in mind or thought...
and GOOD job bro, first reply you have is nothing but useless commentary and you result to profanity! makes you seem more intelligent ... OH YEA! now, get back to being useless
Amazing. I had this on vinyl and I miss the days when I wore out my record player listening to this entire soundtrack. This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music. Ever.
Superbly genious score! I'm 24 and every simpleton around me can listen to nothing but rap/pop/techno music and listen to dumb digitalized voice sound effects like Lil Wayne. Music today is so devoid of talent. Rest in Peace Basil Poledouris!
One of my favorite peices of all time here. Sigh... nobody know's what music is anymore these days. By the way Basil Poledouris is one of the few lucky composers to have touched upon the 72 transforming tones of goetia in his work. Nearly perfection.
@LoLwhySoSensitive It's fine to admire this type of music, but if you don't know how complicated electronic music can be it isn't fair to judge it. There are an insane amount of layers of music that takes a talented artist to compile in a musical fashion.
But i do agree with your statement about digitalized voices. That's a cheap shortcut around lots of practice and real talent.
