Thor reminded me alot of 80's fantasy flicks like Conan, Clash of the Titans, Excalibur, Willow, Dark Crystal, Heavy Metal, Fire and Ice etc. and felt like a throwback. Now Lord of the Rings was an epic trilogy of the fantasy genre!

lotr isnt a bad movie too, but i hate those cgi-formed landscapes, the world is beautiful, use it, we even got hobbits for real (ever seen willow?) why do they have to take hollywood-beauties and shrink em with cgi?

Thor is an excellent retro style sword and sorcery epic that combines Willow, Excalibur Conan and Superman The Movie in one movie and is a throwback to those days of fantasy adventure cinema in the 80's, a must see if you enjoy fantasy movies.

but lotr carried by a really great story, some really good effects and overall its very "moody", peter jacksons masterwork

its a question of taste, but i like the 80´s movies like ladyhawke, willow, conan etc more than the new stuff

I have played the entire Conan Basil Poledouris soundtrack hundreds and hundreds of times over the years while working out.
