  • Two sleds? Savage bastards. In every agility test I've taken, anything with a sledgehammer is easily the hardest.

  • I'm thinking about doing this... BUT I DON'T KNOW HEADS OR TAILS!!! Do you need to know anything BEFORE joining the Academy? Or do they let you come a dunce?

  • @CommandUltra2 - you can walk in day one as green as can be. You're there to learn, and learn you shall.

  • i had that instruter for pt one day during cadet camp and the other instruters said that he could break anyone of them doing pt

  • Besides not running up the stairs pretty great man. I want to do this

  • Im Currently training to become a fire fighter and i think its going to be the best thing i ever did.....cant wait to become one.......GREAT VID OF INSPERATION

  • That was pretty epic

  • can someone tell me from personal experience how tiered u are after all of this? are you good for a second trip to the top and carrying another body down?

  • run up those stairs you pussy waap!

  • not as bad as the DOD Firefighters PT.

  • @KrAzYcOoL89 ...tool

  • im a fireman its a good career to b in

  • im 12 years old turning 13 in august and being a firefighter would be my dream. nice video.

  • I live in CT and i want to be a firefighter. i live in Hartford. For me to become a firefighter, i heard you have to do the agility test first. Is it really hard?

  • When hitting the huge metal w/e it is with the sledge hammer, what is the beest way to do it?

and how much does it weigh or how hard is it to make it move?

  • it should be called

    "5 min of hell"

  • get it baby!!!!!

  • Hey guys i have a couple of questions.

How old do you have to be to get into a fire academy?

and do firefighters have to major in anything or just get a certificate? Would you have an advantage over someone who just has their certificate and you have a degree in lets say Fire Protection Technology? PLEASE I MUST KNOW thanx. GO FIREFIGHTERS !!

  • fire science and some medical can always help. i think 18

  • degrees dont mean nothing in this career you learn by doing the work forget about papers you can never study to learn how to get in more shape or save someone so a degree its just to get promoted so yeah that doesnt matter but at the end it depends on were you go

  • Ali - Agreed that once you GET THE JOB, there is no substitute for experience. But seriously, do you really believe that one cannot learn (study) about health & nutrition, and fire science in order to have a long healthy career and recognize conditions & situations that could lead to saving a life - possibly your own?

  • i really like the motivation everyone shows, that would really help a man dig deeper, good job guys

  • WoW they have nice facilities!

  • This event is performed in the early stages of the academy, usually in the first two weeks.

  • Good shit, but I take it that no one has shown you the proper way to hit the keiser to use less energy and have a fast time?

  • Well, I am sure that the recruits and instructors at the academy would be honored if you'd come out and educate them.

  • What is the proper way?

  • Recruits are at this academy to learn the fundamentals of firefighting. They're not getting paid to become an expert at hitting a sled.

  • @seagraver imagine if you and a fire fighter that was rescuing you were in a burning building in a collapsed room. the only way out was that sledge hammer in his hands going through a concrete wall to make an exit. The test and training fire fighters go through have a much deeper meaning than you think. This exercise machine is called The Kieser. Its to build up arm strength. im sure it has more reasons to it as well... so call us experts at sled hitting if you'd like.

  • LOL ha ha ha. mr perfect i jus got out of the acad. even after they show u it takes a long time to be good at it. its harder than u think. stop puttin dwn these Firefighters pal atleast their trying

  • I said good shit meaning good job. I didn't say I was perfect nor putting anyone down. I just said did anyone show them how to properly hit the kieser to maximize there potential. Notice I didn't say I could do it better or they suck. There is a way to hit the sled in a manor that makes it a little easier for instance hitting it low and going from side to side. that is one way that helps make the sled go back further.

  • Great job!Great strong drive to finish and finish well.

  • do you have to complete this with oxygen in the tank still or if he runs out he fails?

  • luckily, it's not a pass/fail event. Just another day of PT at the Connecticut Fire Academy.

  • i applaud you guys. great job

  • @n3wl1fe it isnt oxygen in the bottles its compressed air

  • man the sled moves like a slug! good work bro, an the interspero SCBA is the only way to go haha.

  • two sleds!?!?!?! that's sadistic ...remember those days...good work

  • im out of breath just watching gd job man

  • damn that was good. whats the passing time?

  • hey... although it was a timed event (finish time & air consumption), there was no pass/fail time to be worried about. this event was one station in a "job focused" physical training day.

  • o nice. thanks

  • good job man

  • Very good! Great job. Been through it, its hell but you did it man GREAT!!!

  • DAMN GOOD JOB. Been through it. It hurts. You did it man. Hooyah!!

    Erin

  • this is like the training version of the fireman challenge, great work out and training, who ever is in the video made it look like a piece of cake, well done..

  • Nice work! Sometimes people do not realize the heart and skill it takes to achieve greatness. GL2U

  • booo, pt for my academy was so much harder than that.

  • yeah? What academy did you graduate from?

    Show us something....

    BTW, this wasn't PT.

  • @jacksonBVFC I bet he didn't.

  • That was intense, I want to give it a go, good job.
