  • my favourite setup is either a fisher black matte bullet with fisher fine point blue or parker jotter with fisher fine point blue insert

  • love the pen as far as the writing goes, but yea the anodizing wears off, the cap becomes loose, it loses that nice tight snap after a while. you can shake the pen and hear the cap rattling even while its clicked down. not quite worth the money but still writes nice.

  • good review. excellent job.

as far as the pen goes... I think the old saying applies here: "a fool and his money are soon parted"

  • lol... this shit cracks me up... "tactical" pen... JFC.

Here's the truth and what the truth is about...

Its about who can prove who's the dumbest douchebag by wasting the largest amount of money on something that will never be used for anything more than what you'd use a standard ten cent Bic...

And they say we're in a recession... Yet the world convinces people they need $100 ink pens. American society is really hurting. 10 minute detailed review on total worthlessness...

  • Interesting review. I would love a good tactical pen. However, I can't justify paying that price when kubotans are so much cheaper.

  • how would you compare this pen to the smith&wesson pens?

  • Thanks for the video, I found a discounted one on Amazon and should have it in a few days.

  • the cap tears off your pocket very soon, and the refill might be a problem. with the retail price, i won't go for this one. but found a nice shcrade tactical pen to be more practical and useful, and for only $23 shipped. good straight vid. tks.

  • Liked your review i have one of these pens and the anodizing has started to were of in places, over time the nice snap as it closes has dissapered and it has gotten harder to close properly. It will accept a standered Fisher refil you just need to take the white extention piece of the original refill and put it on the new refill. You really need to keep an eye on the screws holding the clip on as they come loose and are lost very easely. Must say its not worth the money.

  • I agree, not at all. I need to make an update to this video. My anodizing has turned purple and I've called benchmade no less than three times to get support to comment on it. Update video coming soon.

  • About to buy this pen to add to my tactical EDC. Thanks for the informative review on the pen. 5 Stars.

  • If that's how you feel, then why are you coming in here and commenting?

I like his reviews, 'cause I like quality products.

  • because this is youtube man, it's an open place for opinions.

  • have you heard anything about the cap being harder to close after a while?

Is there a replacement for the O ring that the pen uses for a lock?

  • dont let a mexican get ahold of that thing, someone will end up being stabbed in the gut

  • how do you compare the benchmade pen,and the surefire pen

  • I would say I definitely like the surefire more. If I can get a hold of one for review I'll add that to the mix. I like that the surefire is a twist pen. I can't stand the cap pens, personal preference. Recently my benchmade started turning purpose and the finish is blotchy in areas. I've seen it happen to low quality anodizing before. I sent them a message about it but haven't heard back. I don't recommend the benchmade at all at this point.

  • ALUMINIUM!!!

  • russia just used a pencil in space lol

  • actually, people who say that are completely uneducated about the subject.

Russia purchased 100 Fisher Space pen units for their use in Soyuz, etc

wood pencils burn easily in the high oxygen concentration environment of a space capsule

even if they used mechanical pencils, graphite is just as flamable in that environment...

and broken tips can float around into switches and jam equipment. (so can the dust from just writing with a pencil...)

  • Dude, just loosen up the clip.....

  • its ball piont :D

  • Form should follow function. None of these are cap less. I would never buy any pen that I would have to remove a cap everytime I wanted to use it. And you can bet everyone will write with it more than fight with it. Wake up tactical pen makers and quit making junk. My kids could do a better job!

  • I couldn't agree more! Check out the new surefire pen, you might like it! It's actually a good pen, crazy concept I know.

  • its a pen...

    if its black its black

    if its blue

    ITS BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

  • they have black case with blue ink...

  • Ive seen tactical pens that say the point on the end of it to sign pressure sensitive computer screens. Basically a stylus. Pretty cleaver. I just bought one of these in the same color. It writes nice.

  • The replacement ink cartridges for the Fisher "Bullet" style pen fit the Benchmade 1100 just fine. When you're done with the first, keep the white cap on the rear of the Benchmade cartridge and put it on the new one. No need to pay Benchmade any more for a $180 pen. I have the stainless steel model and it's great, but not worth the money.

  • great, thanks for the info! I hadn't actually tried, but it seemed to be it couldn't be that special. They're just trying to make more off of the refills I guess by saying you have to buy theirs. I also agree, it's not worth the cost.

  • The refills you get from Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, etc all come with the Parker style extention peice...

  • if you sell the pen, pm me! i'm looking for a steal :)

  • Oh, and if you ever need to break out the window on a car, see how many boxes of bics you will go through before you even scratch it.

  • He's obviously never stabbed someone repeatedly with a pen or he'd know the strong points to this one. The "designs" on the foregrip of the pen are called "flutes" & reinforce the portion of the pen that takes the most lateral torque when stabbing. That keeps the pen from breaking & eliminates having to "choke up" on the pen to add strength. Knurled grip rings prevent slippage incase your hands are sweaty when you have to stab someone, or incase you hit an artery & your hand gets soaked.

  • You are correct! I've never stabbed anyone with a pen. I can see your point, but since the clip is fixed there could of been a difference surface placed just under the clip. Lots of other possibilities of design there that imo still would of been better. Lots of good points though!

  • clip can be removed with a tiny allen wrench

  • xDirtyInfidelx

Actually, the "flutes" are techically called "fullers", and while they do strengthen flat peices of steel (think "blood grooves, aka fullers..." on some knives), a cylinder is always the strongest shape, so modifying a cylinder would only make it weaker... And I don't think a pen like this would simply snap if you tried to stab anyone. Flesh and bone can only be so hard...even a flexed muscle would not likely do much damage to this type of pen in strait stab.

  • oh, btw, its deposition, not desposition ;)

sorry to nag, as I know its pretty darn hard to say xD

    very nice review

  • hah thanks, that wasn't the first, and won't be the last time I butcher the English language. Thanks for putting up with it and watching anyway. =)

  • bummer, I guess you have to attatch the adapter on the back of the cartridge.

On the Tuff-Writers, you just use the bare Fisher cartridge.

  • Amazing! you have gift man! You are able to talk for ten min. about a pen! Wow i'm impressed =D

  • Hah, you know, when I originally decided to review it I thought, man this is going to be short, what am I going to say about a pen? Then I had problems keeping it under 10 minutes. Sometimes I have too much to say. =)

  • good review. thanks

  • Your clip observation missed something, the clip was designed to hold very tight and when you draw it, you use your finger to gently pull up on the foremost part. it comes out very easy then. This wasnt designed for a shirt pocket but a jeans pocket like their knives.

  • Fair enough your experience is different than mine for sure. I've tried to manipulate it both ways without much luck. I have lots of BM knives and all of them slide smoothly from any clipped location without issues (and without special manipulation of the clip). It's not the clip design that's the problem, it's the surface design under the clip. Just my opinion, I think it's a bad design.

  • Pen as a weapon ! YES Remember Joe Pesci in

Casino. Nice Pen / WOW - 120 bucks Not Cheap

    Great Review 5/5

  • hah, that's right. Any pen can be a weapon. It doesn't have to be "tactical". Think pencil in the new batman movie. =)
