Is this an electric or acoustic recording? If its acoustic it is amazing. Also, are you using a vertical cartridge?

It is acoustic. I use a stereo cartridge (they move both vertical and horizontal) and rewire it to play the up and down motion in phase so it cancels some of the noise from scratches. Usually a stereo cartridge is wired to play horizontal motion in phase to be compatible with modern monophonic records.

I love Ernest Stoneman's music! It's a shame that Edison didn't; he thought that anything which wasn't bland and and boring was bad music. I wonder how that DD would sound on an Edisonic.
