I like the music, I like the majority of the story and gameplay, but I have three gripes about it:
1. Though the music in it is good, the soundtrack is VERY limited.
2. The enemies are either ridiculously easy to kill, or take an overly long time (not talking about how much damage they take) to kill once you've figured out how.
3. The final boss (and the fights for it) just seem to be totally random, as if the writer was in a normal state of mind for the game right up until then and got high.
honestly when i think about it i've played skyrim, gears of war 3, uncharted 3, skyward sword, battlefield 3 and batman arkham city this year. but playing deadly premonition was the most enjoyable experience i've had this year. im very glad i've played it.
I bought this game when it came out and it STILL rocks. good music cool story. Cheap game but fucking worth it. I hope they make a 2n'd game what do you think,
I finished the game yesterday, and wow this mus be one of the greatest stories I have ever experienced. All the hints the game shows you, the urge to find out what's going on, the wtf moments and all the details foreshadowing the great twists towards the end are just amazing. The final two hours of this game were just mindblowingly good.
So I was just flipping through the Cowboy Bebop OST because it has some of the best anime music ever, and I come here because this game also has some of the best game music (In my opinion) and theres a Bebop song on my suggestion list. Talk about awseomeness
I really should have played Alan Wake first. Then I could have played it without thinking "WHY CAN'T THIS BE DEADLY PREMONITION" every second of the game.
Not saying AW is bad, just... nothing is DP, nothing.
(Plus York is completely likeable, even loveable, while Wake is a total douche.)
I'm no guitarist -- I have no love for the instrument and no interest in learning how to play the guitar properly. Having said that, however, I'd really love to learn this hook. I feel as if I could sit up through the night playing this one riff over and over and over again.
One of the best games i've ever played , but the ending was the only thing i disliked in it. It went from qwerky/crazy (which i love) to simply tacky. Almost as if the last boss's were totally different games. However i still love 99% of the game , just the ending was kinda an anti climax.
@samszeman Although I agree that the two bosses felt almost as if they were from another game, the ending of the whole story was excellent. Not exactly happy end, neither too tragic. It gave me a feeling of a wonderful morning after devastating storm. I was quite satisfied with it, yet at the same time I felt the urgent need for more of what I just got.
Anyway, I'm almost afraid to imagine the nostalgia after 10 years or so.
YOu know what man f*ck it... the guy who did this and the guy who did "Elm" fromt he Cowboy Bebop sound track MUST BE THE SAME PERSON!!!! Seriously. If not then there must be a detective search to find the guy who did this song. Also are there any other songs of this and "Elm"s caliber out there? If soI would love to make a C.D. or download them to a play list. It would be like epic relaxation music. Funny this song is on a game about a murder and the other is from an anime about bounty hunters.
This game is freaking phenomenal! It pisses me off that few people actually know about this game. It's amazing, and the soundtrack is amazing as well!
One of the best pieces of music in the whole game, and it's right at the main menu. LOL That and the haunting version of Amazing Grace. Geez. (Yes the whistle theme was good too.)
I agree with you 100%. Not that Alan Wake is bad or anything, but Deadly Premonition is a far more engaging as a story. Alan Wake's oddball collection achievements pull you away from the story to faff about looking for pages and coffee mugs, whereas Deadly Premonition pushes you forward towards story elements. You can even get into the stories of the regular towns people if you'd like. It's very thorough.
Hmm, well I can't seem to really agree with that. Sure, it's aware of it's own weaknesses but that isn't what makes the game interesting in my opinion. It's the story and different approach it took that made it so interesting to me. I loved both games equally though so that could be just me. Also, I'm not really into the whole debate of "Heavy Rain vs Deadly Premonition vs Alan Wake" thing that seems to be going around, no offense to you or anyone else, of course.
Forgot to mention that thing you say about what makes this game interesting. Like the comedy + serious approach on the story. Never seen anything like it. IGN is too blind to see it. Don't you think so Zach?
@xXBloodFalconXx I love Alan Wake & Deadly Premonition. I love that not only do both have stories that examine human weakness & inner conflict, but both represent something that the video game industry's been missing: maturity. Neither game is about blasting aliens or saving scantily clad girlfriends. One's about an alcoholic trying save a marriage in shambles & the other is about one person's decent in to madness & murder. Add in great characters & writing & this is a high water mark for games.
@xXBloodFalconXx I never understood the whole Deadly Premonition VS Heavy Rain thing since they are both entirely different games both in style and execution.
every one says this is a tarible game i think its excelent shore the wait time for some missions is anoying and the car might drft randomley off to the left but its still a good game even for a low bugent
