I was age 12 through 16 during Bob's career ..I went to many Blues games with my Dad..Bob Gassoff was also a great defenseman besides being the toughest man in NHL at that time..Garry Unger quoted he was the toughest man he ever played hockey with..
@quesnelcountrylover8 No, no. No need to get defensive - troll away. I mean Gassoff's your uncle here and, on another page. you say he's your cousin. It's all good. I hope for your sake that you do have people in your life that give a shit about you because getting defensive over your own silly trolling habits (well...lying, essentially) is a bit alarming. I, for one, couldn't care less, so don't worry about me, dude. I was just playing around with you
I never remember seeing Gary Doak getting so pissed off! Lloyd Gilmour was the best referee ever. He was known for "letting them play" LOL. Check out the Flyers-Red Army game.
@6969ok69 I was 12 yrs old and attended this game, I was sitting about 10 rows up behind Ross Brooks for 2 periods, Gassoff didnt have to play 10 more yrs he had a solid reputation as a tough and clean very tough fighter and believe me guys like O'reilly new he was right up there with them and as a Bruins fan, I wish we had him too...RIP Gas!!
Gassof wasn't a real big guy but was fearless, could really throw 'em. I remember that fight with Tiger Williams,it was a Saturday night,HNIC game.Gassof took him apart
Ms. Gassoff- No one was a bigger fan of Bob than I was. Although I was just a youngster, I'll remember him for the rest of my life. He helped put the St. Louis Blues on the map, and he is my hero. In fact, I just introduced my own son to some of the footage on this site of Bob, and although he is just 14 and had never heard of Bob Gassoff, he is a huge fan now. It's great to see this old footage!
nice comment on the head first into a mack truck, try a little respect for his family like my grandmother and grandfather who lost their son, you think when they look at things like this, this is what they want to read
Gassoff was one tough son of a bitch.... to bad that he died young in a motorcycle accident. I remember Gassoff left Tiger Williams a bloody mess one saturday night at Maple Leaf Gardens.
that fight was a disgrace for the bruins, gassoff was a leading enforcer, where was oreilly or cashman ?odonell wasnt a fighter, he took a beating for the team
It was a pickup truck driven by a laborer on or near Garry Unger's farm in Gray Summit Mo. Sunday, Memorial Day weekend, 1977. Bobby could really throw 'em - felt no pain and gave no quarter. RIP, indeed.
Gassoff never ran out of gas. He was in great condition and created a lot of space for
his wingers with his rough play.Good defenceman too . Cleared the net and was almost impossible to get around

Gassoff would toast Probert and the like, even Laraque would have his hands full with Gasser.

Had Gas played 10 or more years. They would talk about him in the same breath as Probert,O'Reilly,Schultz,Ferguson.
