Hey! I got a question too. Those apples, you dried them yourself right? How did you get them crispy? I can hear them crunch when you put them in the bag. Only way I can get them crispy is to buy them from the LDS Cannery. With 2 trees in my yard I would love to get them crispy.
These were made with a cheap dehydrator (not sure the name brand) but we offer several optoions (from good to excalibur) on our website. millersgrainhouse (dot)com(slash)store
It's funny that I haven't thought of this before! You're right about saving money, but more importantly, making sure there are real, good for you ingredients inside! My husband is going to love this! Thank you!
Thank you so much..... we are eating a lot of oatmeal on the Bill Phillips challenge. I could just add my protein powder to the packs..... perfect. You are the Best.. Thanks HOw do I store oats for long time storage... hmmm I'm thinking you posted that already.. I'll check out your site : )

Great question!
I use a hand held slicer and slice them paper thin. That way they get dried fast AND crisp up.
You know the kind of slicer that you slide it over the blade? A cheapo one from like dollar tree or walmart or better yet, a yard sale...(o:

Heehee I used to make these with my son. He was so excited to eat the packets that he made. Makes for a great project for the kids to work with you.

Good point!
Make a team effort of making up the packets and the time goes quicker + the enjoyment factor goes up for kids. They love to help!
Thanks for the reminder!

Approximately how much water do you add to each pack?
wonderwendy1968 2 years ago
Sorry!
Just added that info to the 'more info' link:
Usually approx. 1/2 C boiling water.
Some like is more thick than others so the water amount is approximate. We eye-ball it until it covers the grains and stir.
