I agree that this is not the best cover of the song, personally I think the original is the best. But Jason can cover whatever he wants to cover, I think he has most definately deserved the "right" to cover it.
It's because when he plays live, it's just his own interests. Producers make him change his songs on the album to make them sound more poppy. When he plays live, it's just him, his band, and his guitar. No synthesized beats, no overexcessive drums. It all blends together to form a great sound.
