FUCK YES! i just read the book Masters of Doom and i thought that was WAY more compelling than that nerdy little backstabbing twat, Mark. facebook isnt innovative. ID is! these guys dont follow trends, they fucking set them!
Man, it must have been fun to work at id back then... Aren't there any gaming enthusiastic metalheads out there that would like to found a company and revolutionise the world of videogames with me? My programming skills include... a bit of everything, I guess... uhm... okay... I guess the nineties are over... Rats!
I dont think that's true anymore, Id has hundreds of employees now and was bought out by ZeniMax Media a while ago. But even big game company's can be fun to work at, Until your inevitable redundancy of course.
Quake 3 was mediocre, Doom 3 sucked balls (ever hear of a HUD?), and if Rage doesn't come out for 8 more months, how the fuck do you know that it's good? Oh, because you're a fanboy...
Watching this while reading Masters of Doom (around pages 148~152) must be one of those things every gamer and/or game developer/designer should FEEL at least one time in life :_)
Lol, so that's what they do. Yeah, and sit, and think, and create the world's most kick-ass games. But what I'd really like to see is "A Visit inside John Carmack's Brain"
the amount of storytelling that Bobby Prince puts into this Bluesy Tune, and other melodies is probably more than any game composer nowadays does for the whole soundtrack... (no offense)
@MjoelH Quake players, Doom, Wolfenstein, Left 4 Dead , Counter Strike, Half Life (Source Engine based off of iD Tech), the earlier Medal of Honor games.

01:07 On the left, that wooden corner-shelf thing looks like those black tall techno towers you see in DOOM. You know, those black tall things in E1M1 at the sides, when you look to the left?
I don't think id Software could be this casual anymore, what with how advanced their engines are now, but back then, I would have LOVED to work for them. Especially if I could help Romero with Doom. ;)
I just want to say thank for uploading this, I'm a huge gamer, but for nostalgic purposes I like seeing how video games progress. People don't appreciate what DOOM and ID software contributed to the modern FPS. Fuck Call Of Duty, all about DOOM.
I like the Bobby Prince part. The music playback brings back memories.. Also thought they are a little more serious company than some rooms with furniture like a hobby room, but on the other hands it made them creating not just games, THE games of the mid-90s.
it's like the 'back in the day' equivalent of today's Valve Corporation, id are still going i know, but Valve are doing all the better zombie shooters nowadays
i like the old levels of doom, when they are testing, wondering if there are WADS of the very first testing of doom, but anyways thanks for sharing this video. :)
Does anyone notice that the Sound Blaster FM OPL2/3 music heard in the DOOM beta is different from the final version? I assume they changed the GENMIDI lump file in the IWAD over time.
