I have one and I can tell you they are the most friendly, lovable and protective dogs. Though it took me quite a while to train her to stop barking, other then that great dog to have.

I have a flat coat, her name is shadow. She's nearly two now and since there has been a small bump on her head since birth she has a mowhawk!! We love her so much!

i think i have a very special flatcoated retriever. he's now at the age of 13 and a half and in very good shape. does anyone know how old the oldest flatcoat was ever lived? i'm dutch, so don't look at the language, even though i watch a lot of english movies without subtitles:P

my flatcoat died few months ago at age of 12. I should be thankfull of that, because flatcoats rarely make it to that age because of the high risk of cancer. still miss him though
