  • Ur fish tank is like paradise 4 fish

  • @MrPawel134

Thanks, I upgraded to a 37 gal last year (-:

  • oh my how do you get attached to a minnow?? I use these guys to feed my 20+ in. P-Bass.

  • @zephspacer

I had my Zip for years. If you give them a chance you'll learn their personalities like any other tank dweller.

  • wait so in the pet stores theres two sections for feeder fish goldfish and i never asked what the smaller fish were. so the smaller fish are minnows/guppies?

  • @barrettsquad85

Yep. In my local PS there are three tanks: tiny and medium comets then the minnows

  • @sweetvegan74 cool thx

  • @sweetvegan74 same here!

  • Hi i am thinking of getting some Minnows are they easy to look after

  • @Aquariamfanatic

Yes, they are cold water fish so no heater is needed (-:

  • I liked seeing the love u have for your fishies:)

  • @FamousBirthdays

    Yes I Wuv them (-:

  • @sweetvegan74 More so your kitties!:)

  • @FamousBirthdays

All my critters are loved whether have fins or whiskers! XD

  • i have young fatheads and not sure what to feed them.

  • @Rock919Slayer

They can eat goldfish and tropical flakes and pellets, just like any other fish

  • i have 3 that i saved from feeding it to my oscar i decided not to feed to him they were to cute have had them for al most a year

  • awesome decor & pet names :))

  • Just so you know, Rosy red minnows are the golden variety of fatheads.

  • @ratrule00

    Yep I know this (-:

  • Nice tank. I really like fathead minnows and rosey reds (the orange colored mutation). I had an aquarium with them at one time but now their progeny has graduated to live in a 5,500 gallon pond with my goldfish. They are more lively, interesting, and competitive (with food) than the goldfish sometimes. It is too bad they are considered throwaway fish suitable for nothing more than live fish food and bait. Check out my videos to see some of my minnows.

  • i got a minnow from a river like 4 months ago and now hes in a tank with a pleco, red tail shark, and i might add a neon tetra

  • wow u saved 5 out of infinity minnowsting from gettting eaten well done those r the luckiest minnows ever :)

  • @TheResistanceNation

I'm upgrading to a 37 gallon. I now have a minnow and 3 comet goldfish. Zip loves the goldfish and hangs out with her cousins all the time. Funny this is, she hated other minnows and kept to herself. Identity crisis maybe XD

  • Cute! :)

  • lucky feeders..lol

  • This is great i have fish vids too.

  • you would like never have to clean it with only them in there

  • @101spades

No if you have any fish in the tank it has to be cleaned. Plus to get the nitrate levels down too. I have 5 minnows now and clean twice a month.

  • are those minnows still living though after 3 years

  • No, Charmer just past away not too long ago. They live anywhere from 1.5 to 5 years.

  • what a nice vid with nice music i like the video :)

  • @lithrax1337

Thanks. Makes you want to set up an aquarium and save some minnows!

  • @sweetvegan74 What did you save them from?

  • @VerdeBurna

From getting eaten. Plus they get to live longer then a week..

  • I was linked to this page from another website, and I agree with the other comments; really nice tank. I just got 2 rosy minnows (rosie and goldie; very original names.. one is pinker) to join my danios. They really have a lot of character for such teeny fish, I love them!

  • Should hv named UNO Lucky lol

  • nice aquarium, nice ornaments, nice fish and great owner

  • @charltonsparking

    Thank you (-:

  • Great fish tank! Most fish tanks I see would have 20 minnows in that tank with a big aggressive fish. Glad to see someone cares about their fishes happiness! Where'd you get the hut tower thing I want one there so cool lol!

  • @MarkA12397

Thanks, their quite happy little guys. I now have 5 minnows. I got the hut at Petsmart!

  • I like the music with this video!

Can you tell some more about it?

  • @WVmedia

Dream Dance from Lifescapes CD. (-:

  • Cute! I have 7 minnows myself, they have names, though they look so alike I cant remember whose who. LOL. Your video gives a good example that minnows are pets, not food for animals. Your minnows are very lucky fish :-)

  • @pinapplepony

Thank you. They make awesome aquarium fish. (-:

  • dude very nice tank your fish look very happy :) i dont think they would ever get bored in there lots of places to explore

  • @ripstickcamp

Thanks! No my minnows are NEVER bored! When I am in the room I light up the laser pointer and two of the minnows chase it. X-D

  • what do you feed them?

  • Tropical and golfish food and blood worms and daphina as treats

  • I just got my3 year old daughter 4 Rosy Reds at walmart and she is in love with them. we only have a littel 1gallone tank for her right now( we dont have the room for a bigger one till we move) she is feeding them tropicial fish food. is their anything else they will be able to eat as a treat?

    Your tank is realy nice.

  • Thanks, the fish are happy with it. Glad you choose minnows for your daughter. Unlike some other fish they have great active personas and will entertain your child. I feed my guys goldfish flakes, tropical fish mini pellets, daphina and bloos worms (freeze dried) I gallon is quite small or 4 minnows so till you can put them in a bigger tank be sure to clean the tank and gravel weekly and do at least 50% water change since the tank is small.

  • Sorry I accidentally deleted your other messages. Sorry bout the loss of your fish, but their probably losing air cause you have to many in one tiny space.one Goldfish need at least 10 gallons to be happy. Do you have a heavy duty air pump to keep oxygen filtration going?

  • @sweetvegan74 we have a 10 gallon tank now and we have a heavy duty Filter and a pretty good air pump going now and we have 4 comet gold fish 2 lg and 2 sm ones. they seem realy happy with the tank. we did end up getting her 3 new rosy reds but they got to close to the filter and ended up killing them selves.

  • Golfish produce lots of ammonia that's why they need lots of cleaning and space but are really cool fish so their worth the upkeep. Sorry about the rosies. What kind of filtration do you use. It should have a strainer to prevent the fish getting sucked in

  • @sweetvegan74 yup it does have a strainer, their tales got stuck and they couldnt get out of it. and then when they could 3 seconds later they would go right back to it and get stuck again. they dont have that great of a attetion spand I guess. lol

oh well she understands that they died and she is the one that found the second one and told me it died again in the fliter. she actually called it a stupid fishy. lol

  • You might need one that is gentler or a better strainer. I use to work in a pet supply store and a woman brought back a filter and it wasn't working right... a fish was jammed in it! Poor thing!

  • @jsrcamp, Try an aquarium store for a filter sponge that you can stick over the strainer, they should sell them for air lift filters, and they work excelent as strainers. Stops the fish getting sucked in aswell.

  • What a great tank! How old are your minnows now?

  • Thanks! Uno and Weenie past away to old age. Charmer is doing good and is about 4 inches long now.

  • i caught some minnows in a ditch

  • nice

  • Are those live plants? Great tank!

    Matt

  • Hi Matt (-:

Thanks! No their silk plants. I love em no hassle!

  • lol i have a dozen of them in my 20g. how often do they pass away?

  • if taken care of they can live for a few years.

  • hi can you put 2 gold fish in a 12 gallon tank???????

  • I don't recommend it. The aquarium rule is one gold fish for at least each 10 gallon of water. But their social fish and grow big so if you want them happy and to live longer you should have at least a 20 gallon with a pair. In the right aquarium they can live like 10+ years

  • sweet video!!! haha ive got the same teeky hut!! petsmart haha

  • Thanks. Yes Pstemart has the bestest fishy stuff (-:

  • Nice tank, love the hutthingy,

  • It's nice to see these fish cared for instead of as food.

  • Beautiful tank. Thanks for sharing them.

  • Ah I HATE ICK. Luckily I never went through the illness but I know people that did. Sorry for your loss. Good luck with the rest of the fishies

  • Yes all mine were itty bitty too when I got them. Gotta love the feeding frenzy--- Food? Were!? There!! Go! Go! Go! Yum! Yum! Yum! X-D

  • He will probably get bigger especially if the minnow is a male. It's so nice to hear from people that have minnows in their tanks! Their great fish that can bring out the shyness of other community fish

  • i use these as food for my fish, nice to see people care for them though! =)

  • Most use them as food. Hence why I made the video. (-;

  • how big do they get?

  • 1-3 inches sometimes 4. Charmer is about almost 3.5 now.

  • cool, i only thought they grew to 2 inches at most. what do they eat?

  • LOL anything edible. One time I put a piece of cereal bar in and they went nutz but that was only once X-D I feed them goldfish flakes, tropical pellets, dapina and blood worms twice a week

  • cool! i wish my fish would eat cereal, but they are all mostly carnivours lolz. the only one that eats veggies in my tank is my piranha. i gave it a cherry tomato and it went crazy for it. =) even my algea eater is carnivorous.!! i have wierd fish

  • Minnows eat anything really. I LOL'ed at the cherry tomatoe. You should video taped that and play Jaws theme!

  • i would have, but my camera broke and he doesnt eat tomatoes any more, he likes pure meat now. what i dont understand is that my piranha gets fucked up by my other fish to the point where it doesnt look like a piranha anymore. im going to try and tape it =)

  • Maybe he caught on that wasn't blood spitting out of his tomatoe or victim X-D

  • imagine that!!! well yuh inspired me homie, im gonna feed my fish feeder goldfish instead of minnows from now on lolz! =)

  • Thanks. I guess they got to eat something! I had a feeder goldfish for years.LOL! He turned out to be a fantail comet and was gorgeous. He often teased the cat when the cat tried drinking the water.. he would nibble on the cat's nose and scared the daylights of him!

  • wow that cat is funny!lolz

well yea they get really hungry. anywayz thanks for youre wisdom! Lmao0o! keep in touch and

take care of you're feeder fish!

    1

(1 means by where i live incase you might not have known) =)

  • Nice to see fathead minnows being raised as pets. I think they're real cute.

  • nice tank

glad u took a interest in them

they are very cool fish indeed

  • i like minnoes but my fish eat them. i was a good person at petland i saw some minnows stuck in like a couple drops of water where they put the nets so i saved them and put them back in their tank

  • At least you stopped their suffering for the time being. I found a tropical fish in the middle of the lane of Petsmart poor thing was taking his last breath but I manged to locate the right tank and got him in just in time.

  • only the therd one was a minnow

  • Nope. Their all minnows. Roseys are just light colored minnows

  • Minnows are fun!

I'm starting a small pond and it's too small for goldfish (only 50 gal or so) but I'm hoping to get a dozen rosy reds for it.

  • very nice decoration!

  • Thankies. They loved it more then me!

  • I keep minnows in my aquarium and they bully the other fish

  • LOL Minnows with attitude. :-D

  • Awsome what your doing.

  • Thanks. Just wanted to show how cute these fish are.

  • sometimes being nice to feeders makes me feel good, i did the same thing with feeder barbs, turned out, they were beautiful rosy barbs

  • Beautiful tank. Good things they aren't in my tank. They'd be food to my fish. XD

  • they wouldn't last a second in my tank

  • Yes unlike most minnows these guys live for years not hours..

  • so beautiful i like your tank and watching the minnows swimming around like that with the song gives it a nice feeling haha

  • Thanks. Their such active and curious little fish.

  • its about time minnows got a break from being just a feeder fish btw get more fatheads charmer has noone of his own to charm!

  • They are the same species. Just different colors (like albino animals with natural animals)

Agreed, minnows are just so much fun to have. They are more interesting then some fancy tropical fish that just swim back and forth..

  • its great to see somebody who keeps them instead of using them as feeders.

I have 5 white clouds along with 2 corry 5 ghost shrimp and a betta. i will post a video soon

  • I love minnows! The seem to interact with their environment more!

I also love your tank! Did you breed them?

  • Thanks. They are very smart and curious little fish. I love them too. My three were bought from a Petstore.

  • Oh whoa. You only have three? XD It looked like you had 10.

  • LOL. they go everywhere so it does look like I have 12 in there!

  • acctually rosy red minnows are a color mutation of the fathead minnow, they are the same species(i research animals ALLOT!)

  • Yep indeedy! Just like Albino rabbits and mice. That's why Charmer (olive minnow) gets the black head and strips band around his body and Weenie doesn't

  • I have wild caught minnows from a creek they are great pets, there so easy I havnt kill any, I fish alot in the summer I may add so bait minnows to mine.

  • I bet those minnows are thrilled to be spoiled with aquarium life. Beats living out where bigger fish and starvation can happen any time.

  • Nice!

  • how long do minnows live?

  • Opinions vary. About 1.5 to 4 years. Sometimes 5.

  • THANKS

  • Great vid, very enjoyable. Never looked at them this way.

  • Thank you.

  • This video makes me gulty everytime i use them for bait :/

  • Sorry if the video gave you a guilt trip. But they really are great little fish. Since the video, Charmer has grown and then some. And will do a loop de loop going after a laser pointer. Their quite comical.

  • no, when i was fishing today with minnows i took them all home in my tank cuz they are awesome

  • Really, or you just pulling my chain?

  • no seriously, yesterday we went fishing and we took the rest of the minnows and we kept them, i put 2 in my tank, and my friend tokk like 6, the rest we had to put them in the garage over night and they were still their all alive, but most of my friends died so. ya but minnows rule

  • Thanks!

  • Welcome!

  • I have the Eclipse 12 as well. Can you let me know what exactly you're using to produce the bubbles in the back/middle and how it works?

  • A bubble wand with an airpump. You don't see the stick as I have the plants in front of it.

  • dud if you like fish so much and you dont like to spend monye 12 cents for one of those get kio or commets gold fish or chiclid if you have a heater you could feed them to some oscar go buy an oscar there 5 doller shepo;]

  • Ah.. No thanks. The tank is only 12 gallons and comets require at least 10-20 gallons each to be happy. And one goldfish would not be happy. I have minnows because i like them. Not because their cheap. If I were cheap why in the world would I spend all that amount on aquarium and supplies? Sorry dude. But I'll take my little Minnows over big old oscars anyday :-P

  • i heard from a petstore minnows can be kept in coldwater with coldwater fish

  • Yes, their in the same family as goldfish. Minnows do not need a heater and also make great pond fish. I prefer an aquarium as you get to see their antics better.

  • i love that little house on the right side! Did you get it at Pecto?

  • Got it at Petsmart. If you have little fish it's a must have! My minnows adore it.

  • Nice minnows. I have three rosy reds that live peacefully with my 4 Goldfish in my 29 gallon tank. They are nice fish and school together with the Goldfish.

  • i call rosy reds "Twelve centers" seince thats all they cost!!!!!!

  • Maybe you should call them 13 centers that's what they cost with tax!

  • What do you feed them? Have you ever seen any babies? I bought mine as feeders, but they are just so darn cool, I might have to get another tank! Cool Video.

  • They eat normal tropical pellets and goldfish flakes along with blood worms as a treat. I have not seen any fry although 2 do the spawn dance from time to time. Their such happy little fish aren't they?!

  • great tank setup, and great heart raising minnows

  • Thanks. Their happy and I'm happy I have them. Their quite entertaining little guys.

  • Thanks. Their great little fish. Everyone that has an aquarium should give them a chance. Charmer has grown up since this video and is getting his adult colors (dark mid-section band and head) he is no longer the shrimp of the aquarium (-;

  • I think its so cute that you're raising feeder fish as pets. It's nice.

  • I love your minnows. I am putting in a minnow pond in my backyard in the spring. Im stocking it with gambusia.

  • Sweet! You should take a quick video and post it. (-:

  • wow thats a really nice aquarium for minows. Did you catch them or buy them?

  • Thanks. Their quite happy (-: I got the minnows at Petsmart.

  • Cool. Today, my dad and I bought 3 koi (pretty big) and about 10 feeder fish to release in our pond. They seem to like it

  • Whoa. I hope it's a big pond as comets can long but that is so sweet! You gave those feeders paradise!

  • I pretty much did. The feeder fish are all happy (and quicly started to eat the algea at the bottom), as for the koi, they seem happy as well.

  • But I can't just let them die now, it seems like they love being in the tank. All of them.

  • Their okay for now, but I would suggest that the 29 be a temporary home until you get a larger tank.

  • I just added 10 rosey red minnows to my 29 gal tank with 10 goldfish and they first tried to eat em but now they gave up cuz minnows are so fast. Anyways, so far the minnows seem to be healthy and love their new home.

  • Careful. It sounds like your tank is overstocked. Goldfish require at least 10 gallons per Goldfish. If kept in close quarters they cannot grow proper and have health issues down the road.

  • I bought around 10 to keep in my 10gal. 4 were caught and ate by my crayfish, 2 died probualy because of bad conditions in the pet store. The remaining four get along with my Crayfish. They are really interesting to watch and spice up any aquariam.

  • They do brighten up the aquarium with their antics. (-:

  • omfg, ur sucha kind person, do you think mayb u can teach me to raise feeder fish?

  • Feeder fish are easy to take care of. My three rosy-red minnows are fine in a tank which has some live plants, a tunnel and a few other fish in a 10 gallon and my goldfish (feeder kind) are fine in a 29 gallon. Two of them are around 6 inches long!

  • Aww your such a kind person! keeping a feeder fish as pets when they are jsut feeders xD!! such a kind hearted person. plus they are just so cute!

  • Thanks. Their not colorful like other fish but they make up for it with personailty. Their very amusing. Charmer chases laser dots!

  • I love the little house thing youve got for them

  • I got it at Petsmart. The fish love it. Sadly Uno passed away a few weeks after this video. )-: I found her curled up in the house as it was her favorite spot. She did not suffer and was happy and carefree even right before she past away. But she was about 2 years old which is getting up there for a Minnow. Weenie is over 2 now and still going strong (touch wood) I got another rosey and Weenie took a liking to her right away. Charmer has grown twice in size.

  • ta ill have a look on that at petsmarts website, sooo sorry to hear about Uno :(

  • Your fish will love it trust me. Thanks I miss her but she had a good life then most minnows will ever have.

  • Can u actually tell the sex of the fish? Do you actually know if Uno was a girl?

  • Males are larger with the bigger heads. Plus Uno and Weenie did the courtship and spawn dance when they were in the mood.

  • I have 2 Eclipse aquariums myself, a 6 Gallon and a 5 Gallon Hex. Great fishtanks! Though neither has been used in a very long time due to moving:(, but after seeing ur video I am considering minnows. What kind of temperatures do they require? And how many could I fit in a 5 or 6 gallon?

  • Yes they are great tanks! I use to have my three minnows in a 6 I then upgraded to a 12 in May. Just follow the one inch of fish per gallon. I would think 3 would do well in a 5 or 6. Mine did not mind the size at all! I only upgraded so I could get more stuff. No heater needed. Just room temp is fine. I am happy my video helped you choose minnows! Their so overlooked and make great wet pets.

  • And only 12 cents each right? Also, I have not seen minnows at my local PetSmart, just those feeder Goldfish (last time I got Comet Goldfish they lasted 2 weeks before dying). And should it be spring water?

  • Yes well actually 13 if you count the tax. I LOVE goldfish. I saw a few pretty fan tail comets ashame they were in the feeder
