This game was really something. In the past ~2 years, personally, I feel like SE destroyed what made this game special. Some incredible memories in the five long years I played this game. I made real life friends, I even moved to another fucking country to live with someone I met in XI, who would have ever guessed?
@sclaperz I feel the same. I'm actually getting married to someone I met on FFXI over three years ago! It's amazing how FFXI connects people, more than any other online game I've played.
i understand they hafto keep people happy with content updates and all(yea some was way overboard) but i only quit due to graphics updates....you gotta understand this game came from 2001...its the only downside for me....but finishing CoP and RoTZ was more challenging... rewarding....and more memorable than any game in history ive played to this day.....as awesome and impressing as Skyrim is....it still doesnt touch FFXI
The story of FFXI is incredible but my god SE and their ridiculously difficulty and time management for this game... I hear it is extremely easy now but wow... what... 8 years too late? ><
@ExcelGenerations the game was never that hard its just mobbed by jp. an ppl who don like a challenge normally complain by how hard not me i enjoyed every challenge from cop to pademonium warden to the dl
@chubs54 Oh no see I loved FFXI too. Excellent! Especially the story, but to just turn a blind eye and say it wasn't extremely difficult is completely wrong. This game was difficult and I actually just reactivated and wow... so much easier... I even feel cheated about the removal of level caps for missions lol.

ffxi was a very special MMO. the only 1 with a storyline you actually wanna read and follow. sadly the gameplay is too slow and it takes too much time to play so I had to quit when i went to college. I loved the storyline. the original story + ROTZ and COP were all fucking amazing. too bad ffxiv is a mere broken shell of what FFXI was.

And now Square Enix will release FFXIV, and ruin FFXI with it.
Most people will quit XI and start XIV.

It's made by the same ppl ffxi and ffxiv would be great. LET ffxi die so FFXIV can rise and show us a great game.
@KiisuShiite SE plans to run FFXI along with FXIV and SE is planing on anounceing something big for XI other wise there would be no vana fest this year
FFXI Online is amazing, I have a DRG75 and still havn't completed it yet, I am kinda sad I have finished leveling DRG but on the other hand I am ready to start things like Dynamis, Sky and Promys, I focussed on levelin first then the missions, and the Maat fight was as easy as pie LMAO he went down like a sack of spuds :D
I havn't experienced that cutscene yet but I am definately looking forward to it and I just hope I can finish it before they release the other MMO game Square are making lol
Hopefully the new MMO that Square-Enix is making will be an improved version of this already fantastic game. The combat in this was so much better than others and the story so much more compelling...
I used to be a 75PLD ; ; i missed it so much... i have alot of great gears and got alot of the best rare/ex.. i missed my PLD.. char.. i could no longer go into my old worl :(
since finishing cop i always think about starting a complete new chara just to play it again. Maybe getting another job to 75 and help a friend all the way. But it wouldnt be the same. I missing to do it since the second i finished :( CoP>All. and this song always makes me sobb ;;
i love this ending to CoP, and the final battle field to this expansion is just amazing, and is one of the better battles in the game, i havent finished ToAU yet tho

I've completed COP and Zilart but the song used in this ending just gives me chills when ever I listen to it. What a wonderful ending, yet you feel that it's not quite over. Thanks for posting this, it gave me some fond memories.

ffxi was a very special MMO. the only 1 with a storyline you actually wanna read and follow. sadly the gameplay is too slow and it takes too much time to play so I had to quit when i went to college. I loved the storyline. the original story + ROTZ and COP were all fucking amazing. too bad ffxiv is a mere broken shell of what FFXI was.
