  • @Dersol21 ...Easy ...I got all the dislikes that baffle you figured out! ....Ready?......JEALOUSY!

  • Seriously now, how the hell can you dislike that masterpiece?

  • He's not the "greatest guitarist ever" - but certainly "one of the greatest"....and also "one of the most unique". Steve didn't come from a blues-oriented background like most of his rock contemporaries. He's unique because he blended elements of classical, jazz, folk, ragtime, and pop/rock guitar to create something very original. He's also a brilliant songwriter and the cornerstone of many classic Yes songs.

  • If Steve Howe and Andy Mckee had a jam session, it would be the single best thing ever! :D

  • This is for the 3 morons who gave this a thumbs down. GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!!!

  • Ranks right up there. That ain't Steve. Fingers are too young and not bony enough! Good take though

  • @jimmybfan

These are videos from Steve Howe's CD-ROM. It is him. Cheers.

  • @jimmybfan This is about 10 years old, so..

  • @jimmybfan your high this is steve no one can play this

  • wow!!!!! I know now that i am a horrible guitar player compared to steve howe...... i thought he used studio tricks to be able to play this...But im happy to say i was wrong!!!! The union is my Favorite album..yes has a pieceful wonderfull sound that everyone in music wishes they would of figured out lol...no joke

  • @dorkylookinloser07

UNION IS YOUR FAVORITE YES ALBUM?! Geeeeez. Maybe there is no hope for humanity.

  • @BobTheGreat157 No hope for humanity because he/she doesn't share your opinion? Really?

  • @BobTheGreat157 union is a kick ass album not the best but it is good I also enjoy the open your eyes album but by far my fav is tales from topographic oceans brilliant!

  • SUPER. AWESOME.

  • When we will see Steve in Barcelona again?

I saw Yes w. The Ladder

  • wow! could listen to that allllll niiiight

  • How do we know if this is Steve Howe?

  • @Pobby1000 You can recognise the ring he always has on his right hand pinky, and the long thin hands.

  • One of the greatest guitarists on the planet, definitely the MOST VERSATILE! He can play anything, any style, any way! And such a nice guy, too! ;O)

  • amazing :)

  • Very impressive. Just looking at some of the things he wrote, you can tell he was a very talented and well-versed musician, his pieces are finely calculated, they flow very nicely, and note that he's all over the neck too.

  • jeez, does he even use any picks? wow, simply genius.

  • 1:32 / 1:40 EPIC

  • @xzcharles

    You mean 0:00 - 2:12 EPIC.

  • steve howe will always play circles around trevor rabin!i'm not knockin trevor, just stating a fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he really made yes who they are

  • simplesmente o solo mais bonito dele

  • Greatest guitarist ever?? :)

  • @store1992 Greatest not sure about that Top 5 yeah he is in there somewhere

  • YAY Thanks for posting these videos! DEFINITELY subscribing, love your acoustic playing =D Big help learning this song specifically =D Got the first 30 seconds down tonight! xD

  • Steve has put down some of the most beautiful moments in guitar playing. I can't think of anyone who even comes close. Lot's of flashes of brilliance from a lot of players--but Steve seems to be a fountain head of unforgettable guitar nirvana. I sure hope he's on the cloud next to mine in heaven!!

  • Such a diverse musician, SO exquisite! My favorite guitarist.

  • Always melodic and sentimental!!

  • steve howe is just exceptional.

  • Its like not as smooth as classical music usually is, but in a very good way.

  • man... this guy never ceases to amaze...

  • andristic: correct.

Give the sheet music to a classically trained guitar player, and it's no big deal. But to your average rock guitar player ...

    It's a wonderful composition though.

  • @Topographer

you know that even simple things can be genius.

i know many classically trained guitar players who adores Steve for his music

  • la tiene re clara con la armonía

  • pure brilliance. amazing guitarist

  • Union is my favorite Yes album, this song being one of the motives.

  • its him he always wears that ring since yes first started

  • Yes... That Is Steve Howe actually playing... Check the the fingers.... You can recognize his hands , the way you can recognize the signature sound of all your favorite players...

  • not to ention the ring!

  • Of course it is Steve Howe. No one else has such long fingers as he does !

  • He does have distinctive hands. The other distinctive features are the calm and gentleness of his fingers at work

  • thats steve howe? are you sure

  • es steve howe

  • grandiose!

thanks for video, I thought it would be difficult but now I see that this is a simple song to play

  • why are you being thumbsed-down? this song truly is easy. it's the composition that is amazing. holy crap people are stupid if they're thumbing you down for saying it's easy. it IS.

  • people become oversensitive. When they hear something that sounds even vaguely like an offense, they spring into action. Such a pity.

  • I heard this on Union as well and loved it. This song is so closely tied to my childhood. I remember I used to skip this track occasionally to get to the "rock" songs. How young and naive I was! This is my favorite Howe acoustic number. Seems to me that the studio track had a lead part dubbed in. You can still hear the melody in this one, but I think he doubles it an octave higher on the album cut.

  • >> but I think he doubles it an octave higher on the album cut.

He uses a 12 string on the album, . . and I believe he uses a pick too, instead of fingers, like here.

I play it with a pick and it sounds better picked.

  • I heard this on the Yes CD "Union" and i think it's the best Steve Howe acoustic song he has ever performed. Well done

  • i always wanted to learn to play.. Maybe someday before I die. This is some of the best music I have ever heard

  • That is a righteous guitar tone

  • man, was Yes ever lucky to have this guy in their roster.

  • @onlymodestmouse ya, they had steve and traded him for trevor and thats fine, they just better not come crying to him when trevor starts lacking creativity

  • Steve Howe is awesome. I saw YES in concert several times and he typically does an acoustic number. I only saw him do this tune one time, but I thought it was the best of them all.

  • man, i feel pathetic that i can only play chords, there is so much im missing out on!

  • don't say that my friend! you miss nothing as long as your mind is active; after all, purity is devoid of inspiration. the less knowledge you claim, the purer your creations are. go out and create, brother!

  • I'm getting that tattooed backward on my head so when in the morning i look in the mirror I'll see it.

  • rock on, man

  • Comment removed

  • it' s the good time to try "the sage" by emerson, lake and palmer.

  • That was frakin awesome

  • Even more amazing is that he seems to pick this song with only his thumb and index finger. Master of the guitar... Steve Howe.

  • this iz bozo good...

    holy mackerl...

  • maybe he was out of pick

  • I love it

  • thats some real sh*t.

  • where in the world did these come from? i would like a dvd copy of these but can't figuire out how to get it?

  • i think these are vids he made for youtube look at the person who posted it its him

  • I think Steve would be happy to know that I performed this piece on stage at a University concert recital. It fit nicely between Giuliani and Milano Fantasia #5.

  • I thought he used a pick on this song?

Does he? He say yes, especially because he is using a 12 string.

  • The one he's playing in this video ain't a 12 string, maybe that's why? ;)

  • There is another version on here with him playing with a pick and six string.

I think he just wanted to play it with a

    different style.

  • I don't know if Steve Howe invented the flatpick/fingerpick "hybrid" style, but he was the first person I ever saw do it. Kind of a trademark and everyone I know started trying to learn it. He's as at home with or without a pick. The man's a master, and I got to see him at the very first YES concert in the US. They played warm up for Grand Funk. The place emptied out after YES left the stage.LOL.

  • Ah, there you are.

  • very good

  • god

  • yes?

  • It is Steve Howe playing it.

  • God Bless you Howes175! I love this stuff. I imagine this is all from the steve howe instructional dvd. When can you post the rest of these magnificent gems of beauteousness? Thank you! And I look forward to more!
