  • If the competition rifle "FTR" shown in the second half of the video (laminate stock), shoots so good out of the box, how come it does not utilize the accustock? I am in the market for a Savage, and the model 10 FCP has really caught my eye, especially with it having the accustock, fluted barrel, and MB. What would make the FTR that much more accurate that it does not need an accustock?

  • @lruspi I am not sure. Dan is the expert on Savage. Come over to the website and there are a few discussioons on the Savage.

  • @lruspi The model 12 F-T/R rifle is vastly differant but not nessecarily more accurate than the accustocked rifles, but there are reasons that it shoots so well. first the model 12 is an enclosed reciever that is much stiffer and heavier, the barrel is a 30" very heavy barrel that is around .900" at the crown. The heavy barrel allows you long strings of fire with a change of impact. There is more to the model 12 but to much to add here.

  • What a compelling video! My 12 BTCSS is coming tomorrow, and I can't wait to start the break-in process and test some factory Hornady 32-grain stuff and think about custom loads (.204 Ruger).

  • if i was to buy a new savage rifle that had an accu trigger but not an accu stock would i have any problems with the weak and flimsy stock?

  • @yaamyrider904 The Accu-stock was incorporated as an accuracy enhansment not to address a problem. I've not heard of flimsy stock problems with Savage rifles before the Accu-stock came out. Given the choice and my experience with both types of rifle stocks I'd spend the money on an accu-stocked rifled, they really help improve already great accuracy. Just my two cents. :-)

  • @yaamyrider904 Hey, it's not a weak and flimsy just because it's NON-Accu. it's more like fine-tuning something already capable of great function to more consistent function at the very top of its game. I'd say the non-Accus are 85% of the Accu, performance-wise. Don't fret.

  • Well that settles that! It Will be a SAVAGE for me NEXT.

  • @vince38curious2 Stan Pate is a world class rifleman. He uses an out of the box Savage. They have come a long way to make these rifles top notch.

  • @ammosmith I can get the savage axis with a bushnell 3-9x40 here for $529 AUD Not bad That is about 150 to 200 dollars less than just about every other brand for the same if not better quality. I just love value for my $. Cheers and happy hunting.

  • @vince38curious2 Same here Vince, I cannot wait to get my hands on the FCP

  • @lruspi I have just finished running in my Savage Model 10 predator hunter .223 and to say it shoots like a Savage is an understatement..0.5 MOA with handloads ALL DAY LONG !!!

  • I wish you had used a directional microphone. A lot of the stuff I wanted to hear was washed out with background noise. At a gun show it's always loud with people talking. You should know better.

  • @buckstarchaser Yeah me too. The problem with my camera is it won't take an external mic.

  • @ammosmith Get new camera? They're cheep now you know. I don't mean to sound pissy but some of that shit I wanted to hear.

  • Do they still make a 22/410 under over

  • I think that a Savage is going to be my next purchase. Thanks for this video!

  • I know just what he means by this is the only gun that shoots. I had two Brownings, a BAR 300 win mag and a 30-06 A bolt, both sucked ass. I replaced one with a Remmy woodmaster 30-06 and the other with a Sako M75 7mm Rem Mag, both shoot excellent and my groups are tighter than an oil slick. I am curently looking at a Savage M93 and will most likely buy it now. Always had great success with Remmington 700 but Savage is looking real good these days and my buds love them.

  • Great video, very informative. Cheers

  • cant hear a thing! what he was saying about torque screws?

  • one of the things that i hated about my fcp mcmillan was the dawm magazine you have to put the heel in first then the toe if you screw it up like they did in the video you have to push it out from the top of the reciever not to mention the magazine isnt all that great to begin with but another point moving the magazine release was way way overdue it was ugly and odd as far as the barrel nut yes it looks better but without the keys you cant swap the barrel and that was a main apeal over a rem.

  • I bought a Savage 64 about a 2 months ago and I'm out shooting my buddy whoses been shooting 22's for a decade plus with he's ruger 10/22 and this is the first 22 I've shot. I'm glad I bought the savage!

  • My next rifle will be a Savage...for sure!

  • If you look closely at the 10 fcp-k shown and look at the ones advertised on Savage's web site, you will find that the stock is different. From what I've read most other features are the same: bolt release on trigger guard, trigger width,PAD recoil pad, pistol grip, etc. However, the dimensions have changed being that it is significantly thinner. I was wondering if anyone had noticed and had any experience w/ the new style stock as I am looking at buying a 10 fcp-k

  • That rifle was sexy...

  • I wish Savage would make a true military grade Mauser rifle with tangent sights and everything...That would be sweet, but I know the demand would be low and the cost high.

I always liked the idea of a military grade mauser scaled down to smaller calibers like .223 or 7.92x33 Kurz...

  • Savage is headed in the right direction.

  • I agree. There is much more to a rifle than it's name and Savage proves it.

  • I think all that would be left to do is lap the barrel and the bolt locking lugs and you would pretty much have a custom gunsmith rifle. Very awesome that they are making this standard with stock bedding right out of the factory. I just wonder how much the accustock rifles run price wise.

  • Hardly even that. Savage's free-floating bolt face will always engage both lugs equally, so there's hardly any reason to true them up.

  • I didn't even think of that. I am so used to mauser and remington actions that didn't even cross my mind. It has been years since I have layed hands on a savage. I will need to take a closer look at one next time im at the gun store.... Good point

  • Awesome, Keep up the great work.

  • My first gun was a new savage 20 gage pump I got for christmas when I was 11 y/o. It was a fine gun.

  • yes new gun store vid
