  • Zepp, I just acquired one of those last month. Do I love it, oh my, do I! I've never played a sweeter banjo and I think I've finally conquered my BAS. Except I'm hoping to win the A scale TuBaPhone from Banjo Hangout...

    Charles

  • @CharlesKratz: Yeah, they're great banjos--really good with Nylguts, too, BTW!

  • Mr. Excitement!

    Good playing and great sound

  • do you sell those poker face masks at your shop? oh wait,,not a mask, i saw a smile at 43 seconds. great playing as usual. i love the tempos u play, people could learn a lots from that lesson. thx

  • @wesgreen2 Yeah--I often smile when I screw up--otherwise, I'm just sorta listening... Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated.

  • love the banjo!

  • Plays just great! But looks like he'd rather be doing someone's taxes. LOL.

Well, he did sorta grin once for a fifth of a second. Cheer up buddy, you're playin' the damn Banjo! Wheeeee!!!!

  • Yeah, well, I do get teased about the whole deadpan thing. I really do enjoy it, but I sorta zone out when I play...

  • good demo ... shows the bottom and middle playing .

  • Very nice. Thanks.

What would nylon of Nylgut strings do the sound of this banjo? Does nylon or Nylgut work well on a Tradesman? Appreciate your thoughts. I'm thinking of getting one and trying to figure out steel vs nylon/Nylgut.

  • My, those Tradesmen are nice. Is there a difference in sound between walnut and cherry?

What do you think about a Tradesmen vs a GoldTone whyte laydie? Tough choice.

  • If my eyes were closed, there is no way I could consistently tell the difference between cherry and walnut necks--my advice is to pick the wood you think is most attractive.

As to the choice between the Tradesman or the Gold Tone, I'd ask you to contact me privately via email or call the store toll free at 866-365-5189 and discuss this matter with the Manager there, Marc. There are large differences, and many things to consider!

    Cheers,

    Z

  • Cheer up Zepp! That was good, as usual

  • Thanks--sorta got lost there... But, as I tell my students to "just keep playing something..." I try to practice what I preach! :-)
