@ vincentlievens - yeah same here. although I appreciate aikido, especially Yoshinkan aikido, their understanding of knife attacks is flawed. No one will use a knife like that, even those without any knife training.

@counterterror101 Any good aikido trainer will tell you, that you should run for you life and/or do anything he wants when encountering someone with a knife.

Tanto is not used as self defense training against a knife. It is used (like the other weapons) to give the taijutsu a knew perspective.

Our teacher made us wear white overalls once. the uke hat a marker instead of a knife and should really try to land a strike. The results were very disillusioning.
