At 4:34. That's where you know that 2 of the world's best guitar players are sharing the same stage. It's hard to put a finger on it, but that's what separates the men from the boys. Amazing video, I would have loved to be there.
Glad to hear these guys and talk about pleasant things instead of leaving heated political dung !! ............great acoustical guitar work, in fact great guitar work period !
im so glad noone is arguing over who is a better guitar player, and we're just enjoying the amazing combo of these two guitarists.
I agree that if tommy's voice was a bit more powerful, it would compliment the song much better. but, how on earth can anyone pick flaws in these two?!
Different genre, granted, but why does everyone forget Christopher Parkening, The Romeros, etc., when the subject of best guitarist comes up? Wonder how many TE and MM fans have even heard CP or Angel?
You worry about the best guitarist. Why is that? Parkening said Segovia is the best and many disagree on that. There is no best guitarist but many brilliant musicians. Personally I must say Parkening and many other classical guys are just as cold as frozen stones with their educated attitudes which don't let them jam and have fun like real entertainers do. How about Joe Pass and Martin Taylor by the way?
in my opinion these are the 2 best acoustic players out there each has a very distinct style Monte uses absolutly every inch of his whole hand to mute/squeal/and wiggle, and Tommy uses his whole body to keep the rhythm...sometimes he uses the whole body of the guitar to beat out a rhythm both are extreamly uniqe players and if you havent heard them before I highly recomend it.
@Jrg320 beyond their league, keaggy was an innovator, these guys are just technically skilled, very amazing in their music sure but none of them hold a candle to bireli lagrene, stochelo rosenberg, django ect ect. Still great though, keaggy and joe walsh were and still are the kings of old school rock. Nobody but guthrie govan is on their level ( guthrie is far beyond them heh, nobody else is though )
@hellookelly Kinda hard to compare across styles like that. I mean, I'm not gonna sit here and try to pick the better of Django and Freddie Green. They're just both at the absolute top of what they did.
@burtonkd1 what about al dimeola, paco delucia and john mclaughlin's (?) trio in san fran? thought that was a pinnacle of acoustic guitar performance as well
I dont need to decide who is best, I just love finding truly fine, exquisite STUFF..
thanks for sharing this great stuff. We need it, 4-sho, hard times bring us to great music
In the spirit of sharing, lets not forget the fine sprits of Sonny Landreth's axe

Томми всю песню держит ритм, Монтгомери импровизирует в заданных рамках и немного вне)) великолепно.

Maybe I am ignorant but this has nothing to do with acoustic guitar. The guy sucks on it. Good electric guy though...

Tommy's vocals don't match much of their guitar wizardry. I wish it could be more powerful and real bluesy.

Both are great, reallllly great, just different flavors as is Joe Pass. I've been playing in bands for 45 years, love em all!

tommy and monte ... this is a perfect event, two guitar gods together, wow.
check out the account "rpoland" (aka candyrat records) for some other very good guitarists (let's say guitar angels instead of guitar gods :-)
