The government can do better than that Nedatronics. The government is making us believe that 1500 helps while the Mps are earning approximately a Million shilling a month. why is 1500 not working for them and yet we live in the same country with same inflation rates.
Well, i know it's not much, but it's a start. you can't start running a country on welfare, you can just help the needy and those that can't fend for themselves have a meal.
welfare is good but free school is what the poor want. thanks to Ogeri and his monster appetite to grub from the poor, this slum dwellers will always be poor.
'welfare is good' ? budget Ksh.1,500 ($20) for one Kibera family of seven, ONE meal daily for each member for 30 days... add water, rent, meds, clothes, fare... Xcuse me Gurach, where did you live b4 falling into Canan?
Aaaah! lakini welfare is no good. See the lady thinking of a small bizness? now Gov't can build on that..give her the responsibility to fight poverty in a dignified manner!
Poverty is a result of structural failings at the economic, political and social levels. Throwing 1,500 at the poor is absurd. Esther Murugi you so wrong you made me recoil at your insistence to pursue a daft and stupid idea!
but you should also remeber that ksh600m circulating in the slums will cause a positive economic chain reaction, not to mention creating employment and reducing crime. I think that not enough, is better than nothing, plus if you give people enough money for comfort then the need to work diminishes.
@71:welfare dole outs are addictive. This will create dependence. It disrespects the beneficiaries by taking away their spirit to survive. It is an escapist strategy. Give me the 600M and poverty will be history for 6,000 families annually! wanna bet?
hahaha. Ksh 1500, how does that help? it makes no sense.

That's enough to feed a family for an entire month in the slums. It seems like you walk on streets paved with gold.

@ned: Break it down 1,500/= a month for a family of 7...NOW!!
siasabora 2 years ago
shs1,500=shs50 per day
Ugali flour (250g) = shs.20
Milk (0.75 litres) = shs.20
Sukuma Wiki ( 2 bunches) = shs.10
Maybe not enough for a family of 7, but it goes a long way.

show them how to fish and they will have enough and teach the generations.Giving money brings dependably and is not a rescue to poverty.

but usually such programmes don't solve anything, they only exercabate the problems

the problem is that there isn't any infrastructure to validate true recipients of the programme frm the fake 1z
