  • great audition, i love the contrast of a slow and sweet section against a more aggresive and thicker textured section. it really shows a flexability in music, and much skill. beautiful.

  • Damn, yours blows mine away. :-)

  • ahhh you're amazing!

    great job!

  • Donovan,

I saw you play at the CPO! you were fantastic. My school had the chance to go on a field trip to the CPO, You preformed a Improvisation with your violin!

  • not THAT good. its ok.

  • are you serious?? its really good. maybe not perfect. but it takes a lot of practice to get that good.

  • wow... no doubt why you made it to YTSO. well done. :)

  • You are my favourite!! love it!

  • definitely one of my favorite classical musicians!! : )

  • o_0 You preformed at my school today...

  • WOW!!! Congradulations Donovan.... you represent Canada at Carnegie Hall. Good Job!

  • cool!!

is this wat you worked on after playing with our CYO orchestra in Banff??

  • Haha, kind of... I realized I only had a day to send in this thing.... so I practiced in the morning and recorded in the afternoon.... YIKES.

    NOT perfect. i know. ;)

  • Beautiful!! I love the violin!

  • awesome!

  • I like the variety/style. Excellent! Playing with ease.

  • really amazing

  • man that looks sooooo difficult...Amazing...My respect

  • awesome !

  • Navonod, congratulations on making it into the YouTube Symphony Orchestra! I look forward to watching the video of you playing together with the orchestra next month!

  • Thank you! :) :) :)

  • Dude congrats on getting in! See you in NYC!

  • w00t! Looking forward to playing with you!!

  • All I can say is you are amazing! If you do not make it, someone needs to be sued. Just wow you are amazing.

  • I enjoyed the piece that you did, but I feel as though you being very mechanical; that is how the sound comes across. I listened to Shlomo Mintz's piece afterward and then to yours again. I would recommend pulling the note up as he does (slower initiation with the bow in the first part of the movement ). Keep up the practice!!

  • I think I fell in love with you... haha, kidding, but seriously man, I was literally enchanted when I was listening to that melody. You`ll probably go a long way with your talents!

  • fantastic

  • absolutely amazing!

  • OMYY~ This is awesome~

    Excellent skills and tones!!

    Wish you good luck

  • 15,000 views almost!!! march 2nd youll find out what flight you gotta buy to go to Carnegie !!!!

  • excellent technique and tone great job !

  • first, Nice video! I really enjoyed it.. you're very skilled.. xD

second, I saw that shirt once! I was gonna buy it.. but htere was one left and it was too small haha.. but it is a nice shirt

  • I keep thinking i hear some Norwegian influence in the first section of this piece. does anyone else get this? like a hardanger fiddle.

  • Thanks! I like this shirt too!

Man, I admire anyone who regularly puts stuff up here on YouTube. It's seriously revealing, isn't it? Balls of steel, folks. Balls of steel.

  • Great job, you'll be a great violonist...( I think you should work on your fingering, don't underestimate the power of fingering. )

  • absolutely amazing! :)

  • that...was....wow

  • im not really into this kinda music, nor do i have any education regarding any of this but from a dumb person's point of view it was really good :)

  • Very good i must say to you sir. I do have to be honest so I shall say that beggining was very smooth and soft but turning it up on the second half got a little scratchy.

  • Very amazing :O!!!

  • That was great. A lot of heart into it. Would like to see you play a different genre too. Great job

  • Hey! I own the same shirt as you. Bluenotes? :p Very beautiful!

  • yes, what a beautiful shirt, considering this video is based on a sick tune, yet, we stare at the shirt...

lmao when u eat a chicken leg...i assume you eat the bone instead of the flesh.

  • Comment removed

  • Ah! You've found my secret weakness! I do eat chicken bones (nasty flesh).

No, I love the music but I somehow got caught up in the fact that we have the same shirt (which I'm wearing now ;P).

Sorry for my tremendous mistake of overlooking true greatness :P But honestly, Navonod deserves to be in the YouTube Symphony (in my opinion) ,for I am not a classical musician, but I admire anyone who is...

    Iggy-

  • Amazing! I loved the sound of it!

  • good job

  • that was very good i love classical music very beautiful!!!

  • very nice^^

I play the violin too and that makes me want to practice =]

  • Great sound. I loved it.!

  • You sir sold your soul to the devil to play like that. Would you please give me his phone number so I can do the same :P.

Well done man. Keep it up

  • skills

  • Those double-stops are tough, especially to get on a recording. You did well. I've played for 16 years, and have recorded, and I'm impressed. Keep it up - use that talent!

  • Yeh! What would Almut say...

  • VERY BEAUTIFUL! i enjoyed it! good job!

  • Bravisimo!

  • Very well played, you've got lots of talent!

  • awesome playing

but haha at some parts of the piece it looks like his left arm is not attached to his body

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, you're fantastic! I love they way you play! :D

  • Music too sensative for you? Have to be macho? Not very secure are you?

  • ya, pro wrestling is much cooler, and for real men.....

    end sarcasm

  • wow. i hope sumday i can play as well as u =)

  • woah.

    Your really really good =]

  • 1:00 to 1:30 is my favorite part! :) thanks for posting rawr

  • its not the 5th caprice, but it was pretty damn good

  • AMAZING!

  • great bow control

  • You are quite an amazing violinist I really enjoyed watching this video. Fantastic Job :)

  • ***** hope you make it!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice, I'm studying violin in university right now, but I suck pretty bad so I don't think I'll audition for the youtube symphony unless they're really low on fourth violins or something.

  • I'm loving these comments! Keep them coming!

  • Amazing... Congratulations!!!! I loved the beginning!!!

  • it pro good job i like it

  • Saweet man! Im gonna vote for you.

  • this the real shit right here ma nigg@.

the sound is off becuz of acoustics, but you play way better then them trick@ss bustahz on here.

    peace

  • Five stars

  • I just wanted to let you know that I gave you my thumbs up vote this morning on the YouTube Symphony Orchestra page.

    Keep up the great work!

  • Bravo! I have watched many of the audition videos of this piece and I think you did one of the best and most impressive performances of this challenging piece!

I hope you will make it into YouTube Symphony.

You will definitely get my vote.

  • second part should be much faster..

    but still not bad :)

  • Yeah, interpretation is a funny thing... but the decision to keep it pretty much the same tempo WAS a conscious choice - I mean, the second section is marked Minore, but doesn't have any sort of tempo indication. I figured since the pace was already changing from eighths to sixteenths, a tempo change wasn't needed (nor did he seem to call for one). So what makes YOU think it should be faster? Thanks for the comment - I appreciate the feedback!

  • .... I LOVE them.

    ... HAR HAR HAR!

  • Can't you hear the raw, uncensored LOVE that I'm giving to those octaves?

  • Hahaha :) I feel you... I mean, what was Paganini thinking?

  • Seriously. :)

  • Probably something along the lines of "hey, I can do THIS". What a great virtuoso, had to write his own to challenge his skills.

As for you, you did good, but the second part is a little too scatchy for my taste.

  • you look really stiff.

    but you play well.

  • i totally agree. you do play incredibly well, but i feel that it needs something more. like expression. the notes were all there but it was just bland. but other that i really enjoyed this piece.

  • Incredibly strong performance. Greatly enjoyed this!

  • Beautiful playing. Best of luck!
