  • dude i love that rain barrel idea

  • Your supposed to use it outside duh

  • 5G should weigh around 40 lb. I guess one should install a high sturdy hook in their shower area before a need. A nice fat hook, skinny one will tear the hanging eye faster. In my mind the water valve should be at the shower head end of the hose, a 1 handed push button valve.

  • i owned one it does work good if you can hang it high enough i suggest the hose should be 3-4 inches to allow it to work comfortable. otherwise it moves everywhere and you have to crouch below the nozzel in order for it to work. i perfer the pump containers way better they spray above or below there water height.

  • can you use it more than once???

  • Well may I say...In Northern Alberta in Canada, in the summer this is a choice item. It takes it's time and it's best to shower near night when the water is warm and the air is cool. But Coghlan brand is better because it is basically a black water bag. it warms much faster but is less expensive than most brands. Cheers for your info though. Happy viewing

  • In the summer we put it on a granite rock and within an hour we have shower water ready to go. Sometimes it's been so hot, we've actually had to ADD hot water to it. Seattle sports has a better model as it has a larger shower head for more coverage. But any of the five gallon models work very well except you do want to buy the ones that are a little on the pricey side as they are better made. Does two adults, or one adult and 2 kids. Or just me and my very long hair. :D

  • I've used these bags a lot. Their weak point is the handle, which rips after a while because it can't take the weight.

  • that is call a alaska shower no running water out side of anchorage pipe frzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz -20 to -50 cold

  • If you have a car you would be better to sit the shower on the hood of the car if you had driven it any the water doesn't care where it gets it;s btu as long as they warm the water. I have taken a 2 liter of water placed it in a fire on the coals and the water was near boiling when I took it off I was able to add the water to cold water and get a bath that way. When towel bathing you wash hair first then use soap on body rense in seperate bucket use bath water to wash clothes.

  • the trick is to get urself wet then turn off the nozzle. then lather ur self, then turn on nozzle and rinse off. then turn off.

  • i use one of these when i'm hunting, or working at my hunt club. the water heats up very fast in summer. in winter i park my truck with the wind sheild facing the sun and lay it on my dash. it works great! use your defrost to knock the chill off of cold creek water, then shut the windows and let the sun work. every one who camps near their vehicle should have one of these. clear side up!

  • had on on my boat they are great, and be careful in the south tx summer they get really HOT>

  • So basically you did not follow directions (wash bag out first) and you do not provide us with any facts? For example how hot was it outside, how long exactly (not estimate) did you leave it out and what was the temperature of the ware?

  • I own the Texsport shower bag and it looks exactly like this one. The valve is exactly the same and I have to say that it doesn't work really well. It's hard to turn left and right to open and close it and the water coming out is almost a trickle. I also own Seattle Sports and Stearns shower bags and they are way better. The water flow is great and the valves are easy to open.

  • You could try popping in some iodine tabs to keep it from rotting.

  • I rinsed mine out with baking soda and it doesn't smell at all really now. Funny, when I tried it out to see how long it took their were tiny baby frogs hoping about the size of the toad you saw.

  • is that a shower manager in your shower?

  • Thanks for the review.

They look good for emergency, and to save money too.

I just bought one off Ebay and cost under £5.

  • thanks so much for this video..was thinking about buying one of these but wasnt sure how it worked..Now I know...I like keeping my hot water heater off and save money on electric bill. the video shows thats it would be a good think to have..thanks again..

  • Hairy legs.

  • Got similiar type but has wide open mouth with water tight clip. Used as dry bag when empty.

  • @actonbath Ah, that sounds like a great system.

  • The frog moment was the best!

  • You guys realize that if you don't have strong enough sunlight to heat it by the solar power then you could just heat up a pot of steaming hot water and pour it into the solar shower along with some cold water. Luke warm to hot shower just like that..

  • @billometer Great point.

  • @billometer if i'm reading this correctly ... you say just to heat up some water like on a stove and then put it in... okay. well to be honest if i had access to a house, with a stove to warm the water, most likely i wouldnt need to use a solar shower...

  • @xGleek89x Ever heard of a camping stove by brunton or msr? Backpacking stoves, not your conventional oven.

  • @billometer gotcha, excuse me dumbass comment then! i was a festival noob and my boyfriend bought this. i didnt even know solar showers were a reality, ha.

  • Is "douche-bag" the proper name for this??

  • @matzecc Me or the bag? Ha!

  • @matzecc On a besoin de faire une douche.

  • @matzecc are we talking about the guy making the video...?

  • On a sunny couple of days I think I will experiment to see if it warms up better black side up or clear.

  • @rodster6 Any updates on this experiment?

  • @envirosponsible I finally got around to testing this. The water warmed up just as quick with the clear side up as it did with the black. It was actually a cooler day when I tried it clear side up yet it still got as warm.

  • i was thinking about a shower in my garden out on the country !

google : KEETSA - they have a lot of solar items & great ideas - get the daily email too -

    nice demo !

  • @downtowncowtown Thanks for the heads up.

  • Thanks for the insight - I'm ordering one of these from eBay right now! :o)

  • The water gets perfectly warm, even hot; you just need powerful sunlight (I tried it in Spain). You can also shower properly (standing) by hanging the bag higher, outside somewhere, e.g. onto a hook hanging from a tree.

  • Isnt the back of that bag clear??? If it is like mine I think the clear side is supposed to be sunny side up. This way the sun travels through the water and hits the black and black absorbs heat. Maybe I'm wrong but if you do have a clear side try it that way. Any way I hope this helps.

  • It did look like the back was clear and like you said it's the side that should be facing up. It really will improve the way the shower works. Mine used to get so hot I'd have to drain some off and add cold water.

  • On the instructions that come with these they always say to leave it black side up to warm.

  • @SurvivalWithBushcraf you are correct about the clear side

  • @SurvivalWithBushcraf yep the clear side is supposed to be up.

  • I have that exact chower. It does not work the way they claim it does. But if you only fill it up with about a gallon it will heat up to about 85-90 degrees on a 72-75 degree day. I just add boiled water and its a great shower for your pack or camp. I have never had a leak either and I have abused mine for over 5 years. Good vid thanks.

  • I have this ' solar shower' and the bag gets hot but does not heat the water inside

  • Comment removed

  • 1 gallon = 3.8 liter

if there is no sun can you warm it up near a campfire?

  • I imagine you could warm it near a campfire.

  • Thanks for the upload, I have already ordered one.

  • Why not just boil a pot of water and mix it in with half full of water.. then it would be nice and warm... instead of waiting for the sun..

  • so if the rain water isn't potable, you can still use it to bathe with? do u need soap to make it usable or can u just rinse off with this?

  • I consider the water collected in my rain barrel safe to bathe in, but no necessarily potable. A lot like lakes or rivers. I would bathe in them, but I wouldn't drink the water in those water bodies without treating it first. Thanks for commenting.

  • Also, be aware of the danger that you can also get really sick of water getting into you ears/eyes if it contains cryptosporidium (f.e.) when bathing in it.

  • Great vid man! 5/5!
