  • I remember when they ran 2472 on the CalTrain line between San Francisco and San Jose.

  • @SouthDakota58

Yah, I miss those days. I still remember when they were able to run on SP trackage before UP bought it.

  • Now that is what I call true railroading! Unlike today's railroading ranks to the bottom of the piss pail.

  • @Nathanrailfan

Yah, its all the same now days. I miss watching GP9's switch around in the yard in Santa Clara

  • @adfgfds Speaking of which, I really love that SP 5623. It is my most favorite locomotive and I could watch it all day.

  • @Nathanrailfan

I used to watch that kind of stuff all day back in the early 90's to late 90's. Used to see tons of GP9's and SD9's all the time. Never thought back then that they would all go away so quickly. Back then, it was just another GP9.....Something you'd see every time you go to a train yard. I really miss those days.

Take a good look at Caltrain's F40PH's. They won't be around much longer. Caltrain is serious now about electrifying it.

  • I do have to say that todays railfanning ara is sure not what it used to be, with railroads going to the "green" affect it brings the thrill of railroading down. I live in St. Louis area and there used to be over 30 different railroads and schemes run into the terminal yard...now...there are only 10!!!!!!!! It will major down to two major railroads eventually and that will be interesting to see.

  • The thrill of railroading is what you make it

  • Great close up look at the drivers on the 2472.
