  • When_The_Rose_Is_Gone and the garden faded

you will no longer hear the nightingale's song.

The Beloved is all; the lover just a veil.

The Beloved is living; the lover a dead thing.

If love withholds its strengthening care,

the lover is left like a bird without care,

the lover is left like a bird without wings.

How will I be awake and aware

if the light of the Beloved is absent?

Love wills that this Word be brought forth.

  • breathtaking!

  • @StephanieLisaTara Thank you very much Stephanie Lisa Tara. I thoroughly enjoyed your multimodal text, "I'll follow the moon." As a Primary School student teacher I have just shared it with my fellow third year student teacher friends. I will be showing it to my students in the future :) I wish you much success - and the turtle folk.

  • Your recitation is beautiful, and the poem is brilliant aswell... Thanks for uploading it, maybe you will recite some more Rami poems.

  • Alas, that Spring should vanish with the Rose! That Youth's sweet-scented Manuscript should close! The Nightingale that in the Branches sang, Ah, whence, and whither flown again, who knows!

    OMAR KHAYYAM

  • beautiful.

  • What is the background music? I know it's from LOR; however, I can't remember the name.

  • @Ahavati1 the song is called, "Evenstar (Featuring Isabel Bayrakdarian)"

  • Beautiful! So silkenly spoken as to entrance one.

  • Whose translation is it? I taught Rumi this term in my World Literature course, and we found about a dozen translators to compare for many poems. Very different possible effect, depending on whose work it is.

  • @manthasagittarius Yup! Its more beautiful in original text, than all of the translations!

  • beautiful voice..it kinda speaks to the soul. ^__^ recite more Rumi poems.

  • @Rehv86 thank you Rehv. I really enjoy Rumi's poetry. I also love Kahil Gibran. These two mystics really speak to me on a deep level and I feel so connected when I recite them. Have a beautiful day. I will be making some more over the Christmas holidays :)

  • Love it. Nice voice.

  • thank you very much.

  • Its the ending of a poem , Song of the Reed,

I think that in this poem Rumi talks about internal relationship with himself and God, I think what he means is if one doesn't have love in his heart he is not really alive because he doesn't live in spirit. I think to fully understand one should read the whole poem. Just some thoughts.

  • thank you for sharing. this was my favourite part of the original full length poem. I appreciate your opinion and your feedback. Dwayne
