  • So this is how it all started

  • How many knives do u have...

  • @ Boseconsultants. Yeah i totally know what you mean. For example I put a permanenet fix on the safety lock so it doesen't engage by accident. However I never had a problem with the noisy lock release. As for the durability, I still cut kables and crack open my beer bottles. Hehe. Consealment was my primary choice.

  • I normally agree completely with Nutnfancy, but not in this case. The Sog Flash 1 feels fragile and unsubstantial in the hand - I can best describe it as feeling like a toy in one's hand. It is difficult to open confidently and I feel like it will come out of my hand at any moment. Very little traction via the zytel. The spyderco dragonfly is a much better (albeit more expensive) choice.

  • On your recommendation, I ordered a SOG Flash 1.

I'm very impressed with the knife and appreciate your 'no nonsense' review(s).

  • That's a killer little knife! My primary EDC. The pocket clip works miracles when you're wearing a suit and tie. Just pop it into your shirt pocket and it looks like a ballpoint pen.

  • @SmartEmployee This use is unique and your perspective is well taken. Indeed, the knife completely settles into the pocket. However, I simply can't get over how flimsy this knife feels in the hand. And the damn rattling from the lock release in closed position just drives me mad.

  • Just got one for Xmas from my dad...love it! It now sits amongst my growing collection (Kershaw skyline, Spyderco Delica 4 FFG and my prized posession Benchmade Triage 915 orange variety). Next purchase Ontario Rat 7. Nutn, you are killing me with all these backpacking, gun and knife reviews! BTW, it's interesting to see how much you have grown in your reviews over the years.

  • I just bought one of these for a EDC at work. Thank you NFP keep up the good work!

  • Sooo this was your first video?

  • This has been my EDC blade for a year.

  • this knife has to be one of the greatest EDC knives of all time!

  • I just saw your latest give away 2011 vid and thought i should drop in and say how amazing it is that this is the video that started it all ;)

  • Nutnfancy..love your channel and respect your expertise! Is there any way that you could do a knife review on the SOG SAN MAI STEEL "VULCAN" KNIFE. I have the sog flash II based on your review but want to upgrade to the sog VULCAN but want to know is this a viable edc knife. Thanks!!...respectfully..

  • Ok, so i just got the sog flash 1. My beef so far is the locking bar (to the left of the safety) is loose and moves up and down a lot.

    Is this normal?

  • I have one and it had some serious up/down blade play. Anyone else have a similar experience with that?

  • ha ha i drop super glue in that safety on my SOG as well

  • Hi Nutn. Finally after nearly two years. Two months ago I bought a used Sog Flash 1 . From this time it is in my front pocket every day. The perfect clip, good steel, nice blade shape and the minimum weight making him to a perfect "invisible" helper .Thanks to this review i bought a excelent knife. Good spent money.

  • everytime i see the sog flash 1, i think of Nutn.

  • Would you recommend the Zytel Handle or the Aluminum Handle? I can't really decide which to get...

I will just be using this as my day to day edc knife for around the office use, until I go to basic training.

Any input would be greatly Appreciated.

(Great review btw, really sold me on this knife!)

    Thanks!!

  • Take the clip off of these little knives..They are more trouble than they there worth ..Who cares of the knife is at the bottom of your pocket..Plus side too...Thinner .And easier to grasp...Just my pinion...

  • I love deep pocket clips as well, i was wondering what other knives have deep pocket clips, like the SOG I ? great reviews, btw.

  • Glad to see the first vid.

  • The video that started TNP

  • Comment removed

  • Hey nutn i was just wondering what would you rate this for an edc /camp knife for the price and quaility? please coment back im a realy big fan.

  • Big difference in the way he acts and sounds in his reviews here and his newer ones.

  • I'm a total novice when it comes to knives, so my question might understandably be considered stupid by more experienced viewers. Is the SOG Flash 1 considered a switchblade? Thank you in advance to anyone who responds.

  • @shysterlicious no its assisted opening which means you have to push it open for the force of the spring like tension to be activated switchblades you just push a button to activate it hope that helps!

  • @delbert505 Thank you very much for the clarification:0)

  • your shaken man

  • your shaken man but great review

  • The one that started it all...

  • @veri hey why havnt i got a reply to my youtube message, and when are you guys going to get a facebook page?

  • @MrCraigBurton I looked, and I don't see your message, Craig. Can you send me a copy over to my Verilioness channel here on YouTube? Thanks. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy cool i didnt know you have a page, any ways i sent it a while ago

  • Should i get the aegis or the flash 1?

  • @CommandoFuture Turn the sound down and just stare at the pretty knife. -- Veri

  • What is the price?

  • This or the Spyderco tenacious.

  • @tytig94 two totally diff knives. If you're looking for a dedicated EDC blade, get the flash 1. If you think you might need it for both EDC and defense, get the tenacious.

  • @TedOfNod Hmm... what knife would be good for defenses, edc, reliability, and sharpness that will stay, and something in the price range of this knife. Thanks

  • @tytig94 gerber 06 automatic drop point

  • @TedOfNod Oh also assisted open.

  • @tytig94 Personally id recommend this or a spyderco persistence instead of a tenacious for an edc blade. Just got my flash 1, so far im very impressed with it. Its razer sharp out of the package, small, light weight, assisted opening, and has a solid lockup whats not to love? I do think its a bit pricey for what you are getting though.

  • @SkankinLozer Yeah, I see where your going with that, I'm stuck between the Spyderco tenacious, or the flash II.

  • Respond to this video... I mean flash I, lol sorry

  • I want one!!!

  • could you remake a SOG flash 1 video using your new HD cam???

  • I'm looking at a sog zilla id like your feeling if you have seen it.

  • how is the longevity of this blade? seems all the locking and technical mechanisms leave ample room for things to fail.

  • Today I thought Nutn has 3 of them, so I need one....pulled the trigger today!

  • Hi Nut i bought a SOG Aegis on the back of your review and love it. Keep up the great work from a fellow sheepdog downunder in Australia

  • Thanks Nut, i bought a SOG Aegis on the back of your review and love it. Keep up the great work from a fellow sheepdog downunder in Australia

  • I had it a few days and the clip bent i'm sending it back for a refund, I'll stick with my kershaw leek

  • using a light blue knife? tryna draw peoples attention?..lol

  • I got the flash 2 and it just seems slow to deploy.

  • SOG has an "Unconditional Pocket Clip Replacement". Meaning if you lose it or break it, tell them the model and color and they send you a replacement clip, no questions. I have an Aegis tanto. I'm considering getting the Flash 1. Flash 2 is just a bit bigger. I like the fact that this is tiny lol. I used to like the Flash 2 more.

  • I love this knife but I can't afford one yet because I'm here in the philippines

  • @rdescosar26 Buy it off of amazon, its like 30 bucks

  • @FbTips I could but I don't have a visa

  • @rdescosar26 Get a Visa giftcard from a corner store :)

  • i just got mine today, it's bigger than it looks on camera

  • received my flash 1 yesterday.it had lots of side to side movement that i corrected.however it also has lots of up and down movement that i cant fix.very disapointing.gonna send it back and let them fix it the way it should have been to begin with.

  • Just wanted to say you do an outstanding job with your reviews and videos and general i find myself watching your videos than to watch regular TV, Keep up the good work, and thank you.

  • what torx size do you need to tighten the knife?

  • what size torx screw do you need to tighten it.

  • SOG for the win, great vid!

  • I got a Flash II partially serrated for EDC. Hasn't had an issue at all. It's beat up, and a little dull now (my mistake), and the only thing that happened was the clip was a little wiggly until I tightened the screw above it, and it's as good as it's ever been. Excellent knife, over all. Good review!

  • Can you show us ur collection

  • Great video! This is the knife I rely on for everyday use, I love it. I wish you could legally carry larger knives though, with the size of my hands it's hard to get an authoritative grip on it when the need arises.

  • Just got mine today, and I LOVE it!!! Thanks for the great review!

  • @nutnfancy the release switch is loose when closed. Is that right? Or should I send it back?

  • @drummer12 that is correct, it is loose when closed.

  • @icantgetthenameiwant do you know the reason to doing that? im confused.. how come its not stationary?

  • @drummer12 I don't know, but it's where it needs to be when you need to use it, and that's what counts. If you were really curious, you could take your knife apart and find out! Hell, I'm bored.... might just do that.

  • can u do some microtech knife reviews

  • the clip sucks on this thing. Too weak aftter it bends its game over

  • @sleepylacepaws knives are the worst tool for self defense in my opinion. If I were you I would carry pepper spray. ;)

  • Is this good to carry for self defense?

  • @sleepylacepaws yes, if you have small hands

  • This is a pretty charming vid to watch -- it's like "NUTNFANCY: THE EARLY YEARS."

Lot of water under the bridge since then! Rock on TNP.

  • could you clean small game with this knife?

  • does it have any blade play?

  • @ChAnDoN864430 very little, but you can easily tighten it

  • Hey nutnfancy, so i was at my local knife store and i saw some jackass at the counter holding a sog flash 1 and saying to the clerk " you can tell this knife is cheap due to the lightweight" and i told him firmly grasp your ears firmly and pull your head out of your ass. just that and nothing more, no explination. then i left.

  • @MikeReiner u are a loser u just told us u lost ur job to a third world country buisness that means u suck and probebly were not that important to begin with so fuck u loser

  • rating on this knife out of 10?

  • SHIT BOY MINE IS WAY BETTER MY KNIFE WILL EAT YOUR KNIFE UP ALIVE :) CHECK IT OUT

  • Still my favorite knife, Thanks again Nutn! All the best- SheepdogLA, aka TheNudeape

  • lol "here are some competitors *pulls out five more similar high-end EDC knives*" It's just amazing to see your collection, even in a small slice like this one. I can't believe how much you must have spent on it. ;-P I'm planning a knife purchase--my first one really just for pleasure, even though it'll fill a gap in my collection (large knife, tactical knife, knife that's JUST a knife). I'm thinking of a Flash II. If the last condition surprises you, my last two knives: SAK, leatherman knife.

  • is this American made? or overseas trash

  • @SoldierCyfix You strike me as a fool.

  • @MikeReiner and i feel likewise about you.

I just respect all american companies that dont send production jobs overseas to decrease cost and quality because 3rd world nations fuck workers over the hardest

so dont go about opening your mouth releasing all that insulting stupidity before you know of the other side's view point

  • @SoldierCyfix So basically, regardless of the quality of the product in question, if it's not made where you live, you will automatically assume it's a third world country sweat shop product?

As somebody who lost my job because it was outsourced to a third world country, I just want to make something clear: If you think everything made overseas is low quality, you are a fool that is in denial. Yes some stuff sucks, but that applies to any country of origin now, doesn't it?

  • @SoldierCyfix its true that not all overseas junk is junk of low quality [quality checked brand products are a good example] but i have grave disrespect for companies that send production jobs outside the US.

as you must have already realized, we pretty much lost all production capabilities.

so i try to buy as many USA made products as need be, and i try to minimize the amount of overseas products i must buy, do you find something wrong with that?

  • I just ordered a SOG Blink over this, because this one isn't ambidextrous.

  • I just received mine today.

    Thanks Nutn.

  • I just got this knife based on Nutn's review! My own personal opinion - my very first impression was that this knife was quite small, and I was wishing I had gotten a Flash 2. I carry a Cold Steel American Lawman on patrol, and the Flash 1 is a LOT smaller! But, after carrying it for a couple weeks, I love the size! I carry it off duty, and am able to put my hand in the pocket without the knife interfering.

    Thanks Nutn!

  • Just got my Flash 1 in the mail today...based on this review! Thanks for the direction bro!

  • lol this video is really old

  • yes this is one of his first knife reviews guys!

  • Just bought one!

  • Wow TNP sure has come a long way. Keep up the good work Nutn'.

  • i cant get over how ugly this is when closed

  • Yeah knife collecting is addicting LOL. I Bought 8 knifes this week........ i was supposed to buy 1 ><

  • The flash is one of the knives that I regret not buying but every time i go to get it, I end up not buying it for some crazy reason. I think I'm just not in love with the look.

  • i just got this knife in the mail and i was wondering if the closing lock is supposed to be loose or was i shipped a broken knife

  • @toastob Does it rattle when you shake the knife? yeah that's normal

  • 3:52 lol bitch made

    classic review LOVE IT!

  • can you do review on the bi polar

  • i saw several of your reviews and they were so helpful. I really liked the others that compared in this category but I went with the flash 1. I like the small size , light weight, blade shape , which you detailed so well with all the knives. I appreciated that you take pride in your "fair and unbiased" descriptions to help us make better decisions with our money.

  • Just thought I'd bring attention to an "illegal" knife campaign being started by District Attorney Cy Vance in NY with the support of Bloomberg. I think it's important that the nutnfancy fans know about it and if nutnfancy has any ideas how we can all help to support our rights. Vance is also funding this by taking all the capital gained by distributors of these knives.

  • Hey Nutn, building up my SOG collection, trying to get a Falsh 1 non serrated but very difficult to find in Australia. Had to settle on a serrated model. Looking forward to its arrival.

    Keep 'em coming

  • nutn's review of this blade motivated me to buy it. Absolutely no regrets. Lovely blade.

  • i think this knife is too small and kinda junky and weak. it could never go beyond tasks like opening letters and cutting string. All the sogs I have, have terrible lockup and wiggle even when the pivot is too tight. Maybe i just got some bad pennies. Overall pretty weak knives - the 'flash' series.

  • Man i love this knife i wish Australia let them in

  • do people like give you knives for free?

  • @chakra177 Nope

  • What's the list of steel for typical edc blades, starting from low end to high? Thanks

  • Ancient tribies tell of "the motherload" a collection of knives so vast it can chop the moutains themselves. nutnfancy is in possession of "the motherload"

  • Hi, This size knife is about the biggest knife they allow at my college (University of California). I know this is not even close to a defensive knife. But with the restrictions in place, how would this knife fare in a life or death confrontation when all other options are exhausted?

  • @fake1009 get some pepper spray.

  • @fake1009 welll uhhhh im sure if someone was stabbed by this they would defiantly back off and could be lethal force if they are stabbed in the stomach or chest but since it is so small and it is a folding design it might be hard to deploy also it could slip out of your hand cuz its so small and it doesn't have much reach. but trust me if you got stabbed by any blade you would back off... HOPE THIS HELPED :D

  • Mine arrived several days ago. I've been using it for pretty much all of the tasks mentioned in the video, It's working great!

  • Nothing against you Nutn, great review, always love your videos and I'm a huge supporter of the projecy but LOL at 8:09

  • Laughed at the tiny lanyard hole next to the clip, if that is what that is. Surprisingly light, lighter than I expected.

  • look into sog twitch 2 has steel liners but they did a good job at keeping it lightweight backlock but the clip is not at the top mine had no bladeplay and a bit larger than this knife and will look great dutacoated look into it

  • This is a great EDC. I have a small collection of folding knives, and carry daily, but I don't have a lot of use for a knife. Or so I thought. This knife is small enough to not appear threatening, and one can do all kinds of work with it! In just a matter of hours I had cut strings off of my work shirt, and several others work shirts, cut up a pizza, peeled an orange, removed a hang nail and dug out a splinter; all with the Flash I. Thanks Nutn, your review made me a believer in the TNP.

  • Just bought it earlier on amazon, can't wait for it to get here!

You can buy them for $33.23 on amazon.com, great deal. (free shipping)

    Great review!

  • i always wondered what happens to those people that get good at carrying super heavy loads do they feel the same way i do after a cast is removed from a broken bone

  • you should check out the sog fusion perfect knife

  • why are you embarrassed by your knife collection, you do an amazing job at knife reviews, and after all, who doesn't like knives? Keep making videos man, love em.

  • @emb876 He won't even tell me how many he has..lol I'm sure it is some grotesque number.. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Lol I really want to know how many he has. I can't even imagine lol.

  • @nutnfancy or Veri...

Will be a very nice video to see...not a review video, just a overview of his blades...I would love very much...

    See ya ! =)

  • @nutnfancy He probably won't tell you because even he doesn't know and is too scared to count them... lol ;)

  • @nutnfancy

    THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! HAHA!

  • @nutnfancy

Man needs no justification for his knives. A man owns what a man wants. If you work hard, support your family, and pay your bills, as nutn obviously does, you should have a decorative rock collection if you want one, needs no explanation. Keep the great vids coming

  • SOG may not make the best knives however their customer service is outstanding.

  • he doesn't seem nervous to me.

this is a nice knife. i have bought and distributed 5.

myself i don't use it; too small.

  • Just ordered this knife! and since I am cheap I know get to wait a week and a half for "super saver" shipping to get it to me! Thanks nutnfancy I appreciate the reviews they are awesome.

  • Has anyone had a problem with assisted knives opening in the pocket?

  • @1911Geezer No problem as long as you stick with the quality brands. Like those quoted in the video.

But no name brands or old models can be dangerous, opening into your backpack or else, reaching into your backpack to get cut.

  • @1911Geezer They NEVER open without having ALOT of pressure put on the blade because the spring that gives it the assist opening puts back tension on the blade till its about 20% open when the spring switches and kicks in. You should be fine if thats your worry.

  • Whoa, he sounds a lot different. Younger.

  • Flash 1 is nice but i prefer my Benchmade Osbourne 943. We have a couple Flash 1s in the hardware store i work in and i like em a lot tho:D. I have a SOG PowerAssist multitool that i looooooove:D

  • I just got my SOG Flash 1 from Amazon and it is very nice. For my large hands it seems a little small, however it is light and is very fast.

  • exept for the blade it looks like the gerber mini fastdraw

  • Sog Flash 1 is my favorite knife! Had one that was a special edition rainbow blade and lost it. Have a new one though and love it just as much.

  • Good video. Thanks!

  • Got this knife based off this review. Love it. Fantastic knife, good value, sharp as fuck.

  • @joeyservo

Just got mine too! So far I love it.

  • What do you do to maintain it?\

  • Ha!! Bitchmade.... Great company though.....

  • i wonder about Visonary and Salute compare to the Flash model?

  • This is a classic

  • I got the flash 2. pretty freaking sweet knife dudes. Thank you Mr. nutnfancy sir

  • This video began an era of excellence in knife camp gear and gun reviews

  • Thanks for all the great vids nutnfancy! What about the Benchmade Aphid? I don't see any vids on it...same POU as Flash I w/metal lining at only 1.65 oz. I just picked mine up for $35 on sale at local store, its awsome!

  • I live in spaiin and i can't get one :(

  • @silvermario00

I bought it from brigadequartermasters about a year ago, no problems through customs. I've also seen other SOG knives in shops in Spain like the Trident. I think they ARE legal.

  • does anyone know for a fact if spring assisted knives are legal in VA

  • google it ilegal in new mexico blah

  • wait i am a dumb shit not illegal i went to a blade shop in las cruces they had many spring assited knives

  • I love the Flash I. Its so small and light I always forget I have it on me. Mine came razor sharp and is perfect for little tasks here and there.

My only criticism is the sliding lock is small and a bit uncomfortable to use. Everything else is perfect imo.

  • I've had one of these for about a year now. Great knife... definitely my favourite EDC.

  • Ratings disabled ? WTF ?

  • Maybe he doesn't want to appear snobbish?

  • does on all vids

  • Lol is this his 1st vedio? He seems alot more nervouse and uptight than his present vedios.

  • yep,this was his first video ;-)

  • or is rather

  • @yoyoma102 I assume thats because he working for amazon in this one so he needs to turn on the filter a bit
