It depends, If you want a high power computer thats fast and has a nice big screen go iMac, but if you want to do things like take it to work/school or surf the net while sitting on the couch go MacBook.

well...if your a traveller guy or go to college, i recommend a macbook, but if you just want a fast computer so that you can do research or play games or edit videos or music, i recommend the INCREDIBLE iMac desktop.....trust me, i've had the computer experience, i hope you find my advice helpfull... =D

I have used a PC since I was 4 ( I am now 13 ) and I have had one Macbook. The macbook in my personal opinion is x10 better than any PC's I have ever used. For Many Reasons including: With a mac you don't have to worry about viruses like PC's. I have had to Format my pc over 13 times (no joke). And Mac comes with apps like iMovie which is a video editing program. iPhoto which is a photo managing software. And stuff like iTunes and GarageBand.  For me Mac has been infinitely better in every way!

I have used alot of PC's and Mac's now and in the past and I can tell you..That the new line of Imacs are good infact pretty darn good. Now with 10.6.2 which was JUST released, helps airport flash problems and performace...When you move from IMB G series to intell...that smooth relationship does not happen overnight...I can tell you they are pretty much there as of now..VERY snappy and smooth.

It's an innovative company with great products. Nevertheless, almost all products I use come from Microsoft and their OEMs, because all Apple products have some sort of (artificial) limitations that makes them useless for me.

Also, Apple's 'ecosystem' is very very cosed, and I don't like using niche products that don't work well with other products on the market because they've been limited in order to bind customers and gain full control over the products - this may make them 'work well', but

it also makes them useless for everyone who relies on interoperability and certain features that are not available because of Apple limiting their products.

I, for example, use an HTC phone because the iPhone's syncing multitasking and hardware capabilities are so limited and I need my phone to be able to exchange files, download files, take good pictures etc..

I also have no use for Mac OS because I need a Tablet PC and Apple doesn't have one - thus I use Windows (and because I hate Finder).

In conclusion, the reason why I think Mac OS will never play an important role in the desktop space and why I think the iPhone will go down just like the Mac did (history kind of repeats itself there), is because Apple seeks to control everything by limiting their products and closing down their 'ecosystem', which - as I've said before - earns them lots of money and makes their products work well, but ONLY for the SMALL MINORITY of people that can live with all the limitations.

The only way to reach a large number of customers is through working with partners, like Microsoft and Google do.

IMO, the world needs standards and interoperability, not closed ecosystems and proprietary technology (like the iPod dock connector, iTunes not working with other devices than the iPod/iPhone, AAC file format etc.).

(of course, lots of MS technology is proprietary, too, but other than Apple, they're at least licencing it to partners, thus making interoperability possible)

That's right. Their hardware is beautiful and high quality. As I said, their products are really good.

They just can't reach the same mass of consumers that Microsoft can, because Apple want to control their whole 'ecosystem', instead of working with OEMs in order to offer more choice (features, price, design...).

But if you can live with some limitations, or if one of their few hardware offerings haply suits your needs, then you can get a really good, high quality product.

It's fantastic,especially that one with quad core,but there is a problem,the screen is not professional,look to all those lights, glossy screen isn't for professional works,if you realize a project with photoshop,the colors will not be real with that screen,sorry apple,I think it's not good.

you have stated a very important, and yet underrated problem with such a bright and glossy display. So not true to print and hard to calibrate for print. If you go to any apple store the only matte finish display there is buy the mac pro tower.Now what does that tell you ?? it forces the graphic designer away from the Imac. And they know it !! now that imacs are powerful enough to render decent works with photoshop and illustrator quite quickly

you know, it does base on use. for example by just watching youtube at 100% brightness on a full charge, it would last like 2 hrs 45 mins. other laptops would do worse. the best part about these high numbers, is that even though they are not average user accurate, they do attract us to them and they actually do have better batterie life, although its mainly cauz the OS uses less pwr
