well i just wanted to say that u made it clear to me. i liked the song before, but love it even more so since i have read ur reponses to Evolved. your answers are truly spirit-spoken. Just because Jesus "Could" do something didnt mean he did it. Same as Satan tempting him in the desert. We could move mountains with our faith. but why whould we? Our faith could be used for so many greater things than just a show of power.

@EvolvedParadigm Mountain moving is a paradigm shift. If we have only ourselves to depend on, mountains of difficulty can and will overwhelm us. If we, by faith, believe God when He says, all things work together for good to those who love God and are the called according to His purpose, mountains of difficulty will be removed, though nothing, by all outward appearances, may seem to have changed.

@guitmartiman I understand the metaphor, but what about that Matthew 17:20 suggests a paradigm shift? Jesus says "nothing will be impossible for you", after saying "if you have faith, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move". You don't think Jesus was being literal when he said that?

@EvolvedParadigm The paradigm shift in Matthew 17:20 is easy enough to understand. On the one hand, here is a mountain (Gerizim perhaps?) which creates an apparent insurmountable difficulty because of prejudice or whatever may be the situation. On the other hand, you have faith which transcends all difficulties, because it not only acknowledges, but appeals to the highest of authorities who is able to remove all difficulties. Faith is trust in something/ someone I can't see, but I know is there.

@EvolvedParadigm Moving a literal mountain into a literal sea is obviously not the burden of Jesus' message here. Aside from the destruction that would be caused by displacing that much water by a mountain, there is no need to understand this so literally. The message is simple. if you have and will exercise even the tiniest amount of faith, anything is possible. Faith, at least in this context, is not magic to be exercised on a whim. It's confidence in the promises of our Creator.

@EvolvedParadigm One could interpret it literally, and that would not be a manifestation of a lack of faith, but it isn't necessary to interpret it literally in order understand the message Jesus was trying to convey, which is that if you will exercise faith, anything is possible. I'm not sure why you're trying to pin me down on this, but that's as far as I'm willing to go. I am not an infallible interpreter of scripture.

If you exercises faith in the smallest amount, can you verbally command the Sun to shrink, and have the sun do such? Yes, Jesus literally meant nothing is impossible. No, he didn't.

This song was a collaboration with a friend. I composed the music, and added the refrain, but most of the lyrics were actually a re-write of someone else's poem. I actually composed another melody for it originally that has more of a country flavor. I may record that version someday. I found the original micro-cassette recording of it I made in 2001 the other day. I agree, the message is quite powerful. That's why it was so easy for me to put it to music!

It a '70s vintage Giannini CraViola classical. You can find them from time to time on ebay. Don't buy a copy. They're not as good. Neither are the newer Gianninis.

I see what you meant with uncooperative voice, sound bubbles are clearly heard from time to time. That's what makes the way lyrics repeat to be song's weakest link (at least in my opinion).

I don't know why, but the melody somehow reminds me of "Dandelion Blues" from The Incredible String Band - and that's a good thing! :>
