Just to let everyone know dorian's delights are changing it's name to Creative Keepsakes! We are sorry if this causes any confusion but we hope you will like the new name and get use to it!
Also our first advertisement video for 2011 will be comming out on the 18th of june so check it out!
I want to thank the narrator - I'm French and while I can very easily read English, it's sometimes hard for me to understand it while spoken. Here taking her time I understood everything.
My wife and I know very little about the culture. She did her best to pronounce the words of the script given to her. We learned so much about this wonderful art.
Thank you, Mr. Bowman, for uploading this video. It is precious! The artist should charge something for at least some of his work; he could end up being taken advantage of, otherwise. This artistry is that beautiful & that clever. The fact that the man taught himself how to do this really impresses me. Wow! Good going!
I was at a store in Toronto recently and noticed a similair sculpture and was drawn to it. I was allowed to hold it and I looked at very closely. I was mesmerized. I asked "where can I purchase one?" I was told that a coworker's mother made it. I will never forget the awe that I felt holding such a beautiful piece of art. It's taken me awhile to find out what it was that I was holding. But, I persisted and found this video. Beautiful. One day I hope to learn how to do this art. Maybe...
@chuckiesinlove I didn't mention that I was told that the pieces in the store were not for sale. The mother never sells these. Thank You to the staff for allowing me to hold them in my hand and feel the weight. I wondered about the artist. I still do...
@Lro321 typical american, country ignorance.. i must assume you're a child for your obvious lack of respect for others or even the openness to cultures far more advanced than you may expect to experience. educate your soul. i apologize for your failed upbringing.. and in the meantime, please refrain from propagating american ignorance. you're embarrassing a lot of people.
@erik1284 Well said Erik - what sort of comment was that, I cannot comprehend the thinking behind it. Some people are so stupid, you cannot even explain to them how stupid they are
my friend and i made a bunch of these in high school some kid wanted a swan for his girlfriend and paid us 20 dollars for it. good times in math class xD
Wow!!! So pretty!!! I love Chinese art + music!!! I'm pure blooded Chinese but I was born in America!!! Your work/hobby is really pretty!!! Paper art is very unique because there's so many things you can do/make with it! I like the tea pot and the boat the best!! ^.^
This is very cool. I like seeing my mother's culture getting some air time in America :)
However, I think it might be advisable if you or your narrator double-checked the pronunciation of the names of the artist and his wife. Since I speak Chinese, it was a bit jarring to hear their names strongly mispronounced. "Quan" sounds a lot like "Ch-yuen", and "Su-zhen" is more like "Su-jen".
But other than that, thank you for this lovely clip!
@phate451 I am well aware of both of those points, thank you, and I commend her for doing a great job. The only issue I had was with the name pronunciations, so I thought I would share. It's called constructive criticism, which I'm sure is appreciated by all creators. It is better to hear from someone with good intentions rather than continue on in ignorance.
@phate451 It's a sad day when one is labeled a fool for trying to be helpful. I'll refrain from judging you, as you did me, based on two comments on YouTube. Have a nice day.
Peace out...my wife narrated the footage given to me. We have never been to China nor pretend to know anything about the culture but were truly amazed at the beauty created from hand bills! We learned a lot from this simple project.
Beautiful art. Thank you

It's quite easy, but takes some time, and not many people do it, therefore it's worth the effort

LOL The narrator sounds like Betty White!
Sick art though. Wish I knew how to do that in high school. Would have kept me busy.
