  • hell yes

  • People should speak against English being the language of the world it is very insulting when these Anglo Imperialists impose a language that is hard to learn and that is broken on the rest of the developing world.

  • hahah you fat bitch. I have never heard of a country that only speaks one language. Spanish is here to stay you stoled the land now you have to deal with its people.

  • This is not England!@!!

  • When you go to Canada you speak English and French. When you go to US it's multicultural there's people from all over the world. Too many languages.

  • @supergerry95 Who cares if there are too many languages. There are too many ignorant people int the US

  • Our country and its laws were founded upon English.

And it stupid economically for an English-speaking country to recognize any other language officially.

English is also a far more EFFICIENT language than Spanish. It will take 100 pages in Spanish to say the same thing as 60 or 70 pages in English.

That means wasted expense for paper, ink, postage, writing, etc. And that's also why Spanish-speaking countries aren't as efficient in business as the USA.

  • the english language it's dull and stupid!

    spanish is beautiful and romantic!

spanish-speaking countries aren't as efficient in business as the USA for many reasons and language is not one of them

  • Spanish is dull and stupid, mimicking ancient Latin, with a bunch of same-sounding syllables. It is also INEFFICIENT. For it takes over 100 pages to say the same thing as English does in 70 pages. Thereby costing businesses over 30 percent more for extra paper, ink, postage, etc. What's "romantic" about talking like you have marbles in your mouth? This isn't about "xenophobia" or "racism," but LAW & ORDER. So what if 500 million speak Spanish. Twice that many speak English world-wide.

  • @knightoneday my friend you are stupid you know how many languages are based on Latin? French, Spanish, Portugues, Italian, most of the western languages including english are based on Latin! Who are you to say that Spanish is inefficient? Whoever gave you that information is totally wrong! When I write a letter from english to spanish it's always spanish that's shorter!

  • @knightoneday you are an idiot. English and Spanish both have their advantages and disadvantages. Learn to appreciate both languages and cultures.

  • maybe your mind are also unefficient. Racist or xenophobic thoughts against 500 million people that speaks spanish doenst work in XXI century .

  • In Germany I speak German.

    In France I speak French.

In America... there's no American language, so I chose the one I know.

  • Your ancestors didn't learn any of the native american languages, get it? spanish was the first European language in the entire AMERICAN CONTINENT, including USA, get it? stop talking S***** and be a good person at THE END OF YOUR DAYS.....GO TO CHURCH insted been wasting your little time you have left in youtube with this stupid comments, ADIOS..........

  • to codystratton,MaxHicks99LA ,argaial . you guys are retards and FUCK YOU, you guys should respect people for what they have to say. Look at mexicans, them and their 5000 calories taco and they are the fat ones. If I go to the shitty country, MEXICO, then I would tell the border jumping ones to go fuck themselves.

  • Comment removed

  • If I go to USA I speak English, Spanish or Portuguese, it depends of the people I meet.

  • If you go to France you'll be surprised by the number of languages spoken overthere. In the USA there are 39 million Spanish speaking people and growing...English will never be overun by any language in the USA, but multilinguism makes the United States the best country in the world. DO NOT PANIC!!!!!!!

  • You're OLD! Fuck you!

  • It's truly a historical curiosity that English is so diffused throughout what today makes the United States. We had English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Russian, etc. settlements throughout the U.S. landmass, and of those, the influence of the French and Spanish was especially strong. A little different history, and there's 3 strong languages with their own different regions here. Cultural change is inevitable; when people want to communicate, they will use the language that best facilitates it.

  • your fat LMAO

  • And ugly.

  • I think that since there's Spanish names that there should be a little room for another language. There's even some French names. For example, Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana. The United States has European background because our ancestors were immigrants. Even though most people in the United States speak English. This land shows how much an immigrant fought for it's right to live in it's own cultures and traditions.

  • Los Angeles, California, Nevada, Colorado, Florida, San Francisco, ... all spanish names.

  • english cant be our official language since almost 45 million people speak spanish as a first language and no i aint one of them

  • i dont understand where people have been for 2 years english has been our lawfully official language since 2006. i happened to be participating in a debate in school about this very topic the day after it happened and used the info to win the debate

  • i dont understand where people have been for 2 years english has been our lawfully official language since 2006. i happened to be participating in a debate in school about this very topic the day after it happened and used the info to win the debate

  • nothing would really happen if the president actually made English our official language. If i couldn't take a language in high school than i would just learn one off of the internet. and most people that don't speak English are usually foreigners that are visiting or Mexicans(no offense). + what kind of example would we be setting for other countries. If i want to go to mexico a lot of people there probably speak English. Think it over.

  • Do you know how much tax dollars are spent to print everything in several other languages? We would show the same example as other countries, France , speak & teach only french, or english so does Germany. who care about what other countries think, I care about America, Unlike our Politicians

  • I do care about other countries because what they do affects us in some way. I admit that the taxes are a little extreme for signs. But you should look at a lot of other ridiculous things we spend taxes on. And a lot of the time people need to use those languages. Business men need to use other languages on business trips, church groups need to know other languages when they go to other countries. And if you ever speak to a foreigner you will never understand what he is saying. it pays off.

  • In Europe there are a lot of countries that have other official languajes. For example France have French, but have Catalonian, Corsican, Breton, Vasque.... Spain have Spanish obviusly, but Galician, Valencian, Vasque... and in that way you can find a lot of countries in Europe. Why can not USA have two official languages?

  • @megs501 yes maybe they do spend alot of money but you only made $12,000 dollars a year, so dont tell me you were paying alot of taxes because your broke old ass cant even afford to put your daughters in college what a shame of american you are. unlike some illegal alliens they do get paid way more than you do i dont know why people have things against mexico if illegals come from all over and they speak spanish and yall already saying they are mexicans wtf get educated loser.

  • Yes it is our official language so voting should be only in English, all documents produced by cities and states should only be in English, I have comcast Basic cable and on 2 of 20 channels are in English

  • The US HAS no official language. It is the De Facto standard, but there has been no legislation on the matter.

  • before the english invasion we didn't speak english, and now I speak three lenguages I come from El Salvador.

  • Oh, and by the way, Mexicans are going to keep coming, even if stupid Bush decides to finish building this wall. Someone's bound to come visit their family or even come live with them. Try to get your facts straight before you say anything, better yet, learn how to spell.

  • "illegals are just Yellow bellied Cowards, cut and run from there own countries to cowardly to fix them, so they hide" Um, no. Mexico has been going through a depression for the past 20 years. There are no jobs. The government is corrupt.

  • I live in America I refuse to learn a FOREIGN LANGUAGE UNLESS I AM TRAVELING TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY. IF YOU ARE TO STUPID OR TO LAZY TO LEARN OUR LANGUAGE , GET THE *UCK OUT OF OUR COUNTRY, WE DON'T WANT YOU HERE , THE Cowards are those who are to Lazy or to Cowardly to fix there own countries so they have to come and RUIN OURS

  • I've been reading your comments and watching your videos, I don't agree with you, but after all you have the right to say what you believe and think, but not to insult other people. You are an example of why church doesn't have anything to do with government. Because throughout history, people have done terrible things hiding behind the bible. Keep that up and you will only get insulting comments, and loosing the little pity respect that people have for you (if there's still any left).

  • @megs501 Then if I learn English, you would let me to live in your country.

  • Besides, if it was made the official language, what would that change? I say Americans should stop being so self-asorbed, and learn a thing or two about different languages.

  • That's not fair to say. Americans don't go to other countries and speak the native tongue, they speak English! How many bilingual Americans do you actually know? All other countries learn to speak English to accomadate us, who are, for the most part, too lazy to learn another language.

Why do we need an official language anyway?

  • Besides, if it was made the official language, what would that change? I say Americans should stop being so self-asorbed, and learn a thing or two about different languages.

  • @JECSProductions People who speak more than one lenguage earn more money than those who only speak one lenguage. i say these old lady should live the rest of her days in peace and stfu. thats why racist people get they live like her that cant even put her own american citizen daughters in college, unlike several lenguage speakers they have a way better future believe it or not im i right or not.

  • You have NEVER shown the Native Americans the respect they deserve, You people want to anglonize everything everywhere you go, Like South Africa Remember. And wether you like it or not Spanish is Our Unofficial second language , is a reality now. Remember the first European that got here was a Spaniard not some stupid English from Manchester. ta ta

  • You, megs501, you are the coward, you are the one who doesn't want to accept the fact that America is made up of different languages and cultures. I think you are too old to understand that, times have changed, soon, you will be dead and new generations of peolple will be speaking Spanish and English as the official languages of America.

  • English is Our first and the only language , if your to Stupid or to Lazy to learn it, get out of our country. Period , illegals are just Yellow bellied Cowards, cut and run from there own countries to cowardly to fix them, so they hide .

  • Well, Spanish was among the first languages to be spoken in America before English. Just ask the Native Americans, they saw the Spanish come to this continent way before the English did.

  • Years ago immigrants came in here Legally, they had enough RESPECT FOR THIS COUNTRY , TO LEARN ENGLISH, AND STILL DO , even though they speak there home language as well. Now illegals don't even Respect Life, We have always had a Diverse Culture, They still Repected this country and it's language. That was made Official in the 1800's I say speak and read and write English or Get OUT.

  • No Sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • I'm sorry. Are you saying random stuff again, let me refresh your memory. "English was made our offical language in the 1700's look it up". You said that a few months ago. Now, I advice you to look this up because I found the following in the us constitution website. "Many people are surprised to learn that the United States has no official language. Many assume that English is the country's official language. But despite efforts over the years, the United States has no official language"

  • Why don't we speak American since we are in Americabecause English is from England. Wait a moment. There isn't a language called American! The reason we don't have an official language is to RESPECT the diversity of cultures that make up our nation. To make it official would insult our diversity. Are people constantly speaking some foreign dialect to you in public,so much to the point that you aren't able to get around? Is it bothering you that badly that you wish have that question on national TV?

  • Watch Press 1 for English on you tube , it says it all

  • Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • National language, is not official, and it needs to effect every document etc. It is costing taxpayers money as well to print every document in more than one language. I have researched this, watched all debates and a bill is still in the works to make it official, so why would they feel a Second bill is necessary ?

  • Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • On May 18, 2006, the Senate voted on an amendment to an immigration reform bill that would declare English the national language of the United States.[2] The immigration reform bill itself, S. 2611, was passed in the Senate on May 25, 2006, and now has to go back to the House of Representatives in conference to make sure amendments are agreed upon. (wikipedia)

Do a little more research next time, the "when is" part of the question is irrelevant because it is already in the process of happening.

  • They can speak what ever they want, but they must speak english and not expect americans to speak german, spanish, french here period. I would not go to France and demand they speak English, it's DISRESPECTFUL

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • I also would liek to point out that perhaps Algonquian was a language in America before a certain horde of gun-toting 'illegals' made there way over and announced themselves to be the first people to enforce 'English' on another culture

  • I went to Germany and spoke English. I just did what most English speaking nations do in foreign situations and revved up the amps! "WHERE. IS. THE. BUS. STOP. BITTE."

Also, is this video a stab at the many non-english speaking Americans out there or is it a stab at the way in which the "American" form of "English" is so very very extraordinarily different from the one which they speak in England. The true home of English, for those who might be mistaken by people like this one...

  • You compare the us to other countries, yet many other countries have multiple official languages. English is an official language (but not the only official language) of over 70 countries including India, the Philippines, and Singapore. If you go to France or Germany chances are you will find many people speak 2 or 3 languages, including English. Americans are some of the worst when it comes to speaking other countries languages.

  • My children haven been denied assistance because they are American Citizens. I'm afraid that will get worse and they will be denied all of their lives while illegals take over. As it is, you mus know a certain level of spanish to get many different jobs. Being Billingual in spanish is being made a requirement these days. It is just not right.

  • You need to be more accepting of diversity. This is america, the melting pot. What are you afraid of?

  • English was made our offical language in the 1700's look it up, it's just that our government sides with special interests, like La Raza instead of American's and they have No Respect for this country or it's citizens

  • You Speak French eh? I highly doubt it.

2nd off, what do you Speak when you go to Canada, or Spain? Just curious... :D

and I understand "Germany" and "France" speak "German" and "French" but where in "America" do you see "English"? ;)

  • I don't get it. So, if it's already our official language, what is the point of your question?

  • Well, basically, the constitution prohibits any language from being made "official". The First Amendment makes no provisions about language and it should not. There are other amendments preventing an official language of any sort. You have a right to Freedom of Speech, you should allow others that same right. I thought Texans were more freedom minded than the rest of the country. Thank you for showing me that there are exceptions.
