Not sure if you could speak enough Japanese at the time but if you could, what would happen if you offered to do some chores? Would she not let you because you are a guest? Just wondering.
Im gathering lots of money for my exhange year 2013, and i have been gathering it for 2 years now (not from a job, by saving money), but im still young for better job and money, so i just have to rely on the 100euros/month from the exhausting job i got this year, as a postman. (ugh) I know it's worth it, bechause learning a new language and culture is awesome!

My host family provided me with breakfast and dinner as well as a room to myself. We could speak with each other in Japanese during dinner time and the mother checked my homework when I asked. As for schooling, I just biked to school everyday. If it rained I would take the train.
