9th GF Lorrie Tennant - a talented poet, raped at 15. Murdered at the age of 25 by her exhusband.
This is just a small sampling of Black women who I knew and loved who have suffered from rape or molestation. All of them were good people, but they all had their problems with men because of their experiences.
..their experiences of rape and molestation created massive amounts of fear in them. That fear created relational problems that few Black men could handle.

It's so sad to hear your story. I can't speak from a female perspective because I am not a female but I can speak from a black perspective.
This image of black women is worldwide for the whole to see. People who have very little contact with black people base their opinions on what they see on music videos and judge the entire race by this. I only wish that there was something to counter the negativity because children are growing up thinking that this is the norm.

I think it's a question of being female. I think it is about being black and being a woman, like I used to say there is nothing worse than being a black, strong and even worse a woman! I myself, a dude tried to rape me and told he to leave when I didn't agree. right now I pretty much don't like men, hopefully one good man will turn this belief around. Being a woman is still way worse than being a man, our status has somewhat improved but combined with our "race", we are for sure considered part of the bottow half.

Great job of dealing with a volatile subject, I'm with you with all that you said about the image being portrayed out there of black women. I've never been a fan of any music that calls women those names. It also chills me to the bone to hear women refer to each other as those names. Women are Queens and Princesses in my eyes, and I also know that if you refuse to be treated in any way other than what you really are (Queens and Princesses) then you shall be.

While I feel your pain I have to disagree with some of what you've said. Now, it seems the consensus of some that if you have a vagina that you are to be automatically repsected. And what of eprsonal responsibility? I am sorry, I do not feel sorry for women who willingly degrade themselves. Too often these rappers are blamed for degrading these women while the women somehow gets off. I don't think it's right. I think they're both a disgrace. The women shaking their asses and the men.

I mean if we're going to be talking about equality between the sexes, then be fair about it. Last, I don't listen to rap anymore, but I can't just sit here and act like these video girls don't share in the blame of what we see taking place in our community. Black men "and" black women have got some explaining to do.
